BrainSTEM Competition

A selection of Year 7 and 8 students participated in the BrainSTEM competition at Melbourne Grammar School on Thursday 8th June. The event provided an incredible opportunity for our students to engage with the world of sustainability, creative and critical thinking skills. They had the privilege of hearing from industry experts, including Liz Perrone, Head of Energy Hubs Commercial Development at AGL. Liz’s inspiring work involves transitioning fossil fuel power station sites into Low Carbon Energy Hubs, aiming to support sustainability and decarbonization while fostering employment and economic prosperity for local communities. Our students were then grouped with students from other schools to collaboratively tackle a sustainability goal. They had to identify potential problems, brainstorm solutions, create their solution using LEGO and pitch their ideas to a panel of judges. We are proud to announce that Lawton’s team emerged as the winners, each receiving a well-deserved Lego set and Lana’s team won the people’s choice award. Congratulations to all our participating students for their hard work and dedication!
