SENIOR SNIPPETS

TERM 4, WEEK 5 • 6TH NOVEMBER 2025

Farewell Senior Snippets

Welcome to the final Senior School Snippets of the 2025 school year Not only our last newsletter for the year, but possibly the last Senior School Snippets Newsletter as we change to the new Secondary structure in 2026. Thank you for being patient with my scribblings over the past few years as I have endeavoured to communicate all of the happenings within the busy life of the students in Years 10-12

We are in the midst of Year 12 Exams and will soon be saying a sad good-bye to our amazing Year 12 class. But, not before the Valedictory Dinner and final Graduation during the Celebration Evening on 2nd December 2025 This newsletter will highlight what is coming up in the last weeks of school as well as emphasise items of importance for finalising this school year and commencing the 2026 school year successfully.

Often the journey ahead seems daunting There is too much to finalise and organise before we start the next part - overdue tasks, exams, finalising new subjects, purchasing texts The holidays are only five weeks away, but there is so much to do before they arrive

Ahead are transition times, new courses and adventures beyond Year 12, uptake of new VCE subjects for Year 10 students with the commencement of VCE or VCE VM, perhaps a new job during the summer or holiday plans in exciting places

I am reminded of the words of the Apostle Paul in Philippians as he contemplated the ministry that God had given him

“I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me ” Philippians 4:13 (ESV)

“I am ready for anything through the strength of the one who lives within me “ (Phillips amplification)

Set a goal to fix your eyes on Jesus and draw strength from Him who gives you strength

FINISHING ALL OVERDUE WORK BEFORE EXAMS

Students in Years 10-11 must finalise and submit all overdue tasks prior to the commencement of VCE Ideally all work should be finalised and submitted prior to Exams However, there are two periods on Tuesday 25th November 2025 at the end of the day when there are no exams for Year 10 students. This time may be required to complete overdue tasks.

During Week 6, students will be required to get their classes individually signed off as ‘No Further Work Required ’ This form will be returned to the Senior School Office with teacher signatures indicating that all work is finished and students are ready to commence the 2026 Early Start program on Thursday 27th November 2025.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

As you will be aware, Northside is a Resource and Drop off Point for Operation Christmas Child each year This year the drop off point collected around 1500 shoeboxes Last week, the truck came to collect the final group of shoeboxes crammed into our container On the day a group of student and staff volunteers helped to pack 916 shoeboxes into cartons These cartons went directly to Ballarat to be popped into a container on their way to Sydney to the main warehouse. From there they will be checked and on their way to one of the following destinations: Ukraine, Philippines, PNG, Solomon Islands or an undisclosed destination

Thanks to help received, we were able to pack 916 cartons shoeboxes in 45 minutes.

Many thanks to our Maintenance Team staff who helped to set up our packing area; students were expert packers for 45 minutes; Mrs Simic who enthusiastically partnered with Neriah (Year 9) to do expert packing and to also pray for the boxes before they went onwards, and to many others who helped with the packing or cheered us on from the sidelines

Please continue to pray for the boxes as they go to their final destinations in the hands of each boy and girl who need not just the items in the box but the Love of Jesus!

Thanks to everyone who has participated in some way this year to the shoebox outreach in 2025 You have all been contributors whether it has been raising money, collecting items for the school pack, packing boxes at school or home or praying You have all been a part of this effort for the Kingdom.
