TERM 4 | WEEK 4 | 31ST OCTOBER 2025

A MESSAGE FROM MR CHRIS DROWLEY PRIMARY NEWS PRIMARY NEWS

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week our students have continued to work hard, and our teachers are reflecting on each student’s progress as they begin preparing reports for the end of the semester. It is so encouraging to see how much growth our students have made in their learning throughout the year.

Our Home Reading Program will finish on Friday 14th November 2025, when we ask that all books be returned. This will allow us to take stock, replenish, and repair items in preparation for next year. However this does not mean that reading should stop! I encourage you to ensure your child continues to have access to books at home especially over the longer school holiday break in December and January Local libraries are wonderful community resources that families can access to borrow books Continuing daily reading habits will help your child further develop their reading skills and nurture a lifelong love of reading.

This week I have also spoken with several students about the importance of taking responsibility for their actions It can be easy to shift blame or justify poor choices, but we want our students to recognise the role they play in conflict and to take ownership of their part This idea is a key focus in our PeaceWise curriculum, which provides a Biblical framework for resolving conflict. We remind students that while they cannot always control the actions of others, they can control their own responses. My prayer is that our students continue to grow in self-control, one of the Fruit of the Spirit, and learn to interact with others in safe, positive and respectful ways.

As we celebrate World Teachers’ Day on Friday 31st October 2025, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible dedication and care of our teaching staff. Our teachers consistently go above and beyond to create engaging learning experiences, nurture each child’s potential and model Christ-like character in all they do. We are deeply grateful for their commitment and the difference they make in the lives of our students every day.

Please remember we have our upcoming Mid Term Break this weekend and school will resume on Wednesday 5th November 2025 I pray it is a restful and peaceful long weekend for you and your family.

God bless you,

Social media age restrictions

What you need to know

From 10 December 2025 Australian young people under 16 will not be allowed to create or hold accounts on certain social media platforms.

Delaying account access allows more time for young people to build digital literacy and greater resilience.

How will it work?

Under the law, the responsibility lies with the age-restricted platforms to find and deactivate existing accounts held by under-16s and to prevent under-16s from creating new accounts.

There are no penalties for under-16s who access an age-restricted social media platform, or for their parents or carers

Social media platforms

The age restrictionsarelikely to apply to Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, X and YouTube, as well as other platforms See the latest list.

Most standalone gaming and messaging apps, as well as many services that support health and education, will not be affected by the new law.
