Morrisby Careers Aptitude Test and Career Pathway

Over the past two terms I have been privileged to meet with most of the Year 9 families in regard to the results of the Morrisby Careers Aptitude Test You may remember this test that you took as a part of your Year 9 Careers and Work Studies class and some of the career suggestions that were made for you at the end of the test Today, as a Year 10, 11 or 12 student, you may have a laugh about some of the things that were suggested as possible occupations, but for many of you the careers suggested by the algorithm in the computer were pretty accurate If you look back and reflect, are you still following the same pathway suggested by your Year 9 Morrisby Test?

We do not have to take a test to figure out God’s overall plan for our lives. While me may wonder, ponder, and seek advice (and may I say worry and fret) about our future Career Pathway based on our aptitudes, God’s Word is quite specific about many aspects of our life and pathway.

Whatever you do in word or deed, do all to the Glory of God Colossians 3:17

Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path Psalm 119:105

I know the plans that I have for you, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope Jeremiah 29:11

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8

Important Information:

This week the Year 12 students have been busy creating their profiles and 2026 tertiary course applications through VTAC These applications have been preceded by many hours of research on VTAC to select Tertiary Institutions and Courses at these providers that will meet their career goals This important process was initiated back in Year 10 when students first began looking at prerequisites for future pathways.

We are praying that as students submit their preferences and consider the goals that they have for their lives that they will also consider how they can use their future careers to serve the Lord and others around them and to make the world a better place

Please ensure that the VTAC account is paid for by Monday 29th September or the price jumps by $100 for this required service

If you have Equity applications to be submitted, it is essential to have the account paid before you have access to the Equity applications You will then wish to have your documents checked by VTAC by Friday 5th September for accuracy and completion. As a result, it is really important to pay your fee ASAP to facilitate this function of VTAC

NOTE: There is NO reopening for Equity Schemes. Documents received after Friday 10th October will NOT be processed. This means Statements of Support as well Please see Mrs Waters if you have any further questions.

Please see the VTAC website for a complete list of dates: VTAC Complete List of Dates for 2026 Applications

Here are the most important dates Save money by paying by 5:00pm on Monday 29th September

Parents, did you know that there is a VTAC publication just for you? You can find it at this link: Parents Guide to VTAC

This is a rich resource of articles about all aspects of using VTAC for researching future careers/courses, as well as explanations of how scaling and the ATAR is created I encourage you to explore this resource online to build your understanding of future pathways.

FINAL WEEKS OF VCE

There are currently around 8 weeks left of structured Unit 3 & 4 VCE classes! Where have the days and years gone! Year 12 students are digging in and studying hard Parents, you may find study posters hanging from walls all around your home, in the bathroom, and other places that you may not have expected that study could take place.

As students finalise these last weeks of Unit 4 leading up to exams, we are encouraging them to maintain good study habits, sleep well, eat brain nourishing food, and maintain healthy social and family relationships

The NSW Government has prepared an informative handout for parents on how to help their children manage exam stress I encourage you to access it here for strategies to use to help your children during this time: Getting Exam Ready - Tips for Parents

YEAR 10 CAMP

The Year 10 students were blessed with good weather over most of the camp Days were mainly clear, mornings and nights were very cold, but we enjoyed a great variety They were privileged to hear from two speakers over the three days who challenged them to do their best and achieve regardless of their background. It was lovely to see the students spontaneously singing worship songs and working together in their initiatives

Jon Munro, son of our Principal Ms Jacqui Munro, was with us from Thursday afternoon into Friday. He challenged the students to have GRITcourage and resolve in their academic and personal journeys. Standing up for what is right and becoming the people that God has planned for their futures

Jon also spoke about Mission Aviation Fellowship with whom he is partnered in their student leadership program. Our students at Northside have already benefitted from his leadership and training if they are on the Student Representative Council (SRC)

YEAR 10 CAMP CONTINUED...

Thank you Jon for sharing these two days with us, building into the lives of our students, and challenging them to be the best that they can be for the Lord.

The Year 10 students had the honour of hearing from Jon and Garret from MAF Australia who spoke about the importance and power of Empathy. They explained that demonstrating true empathy can also reduce symptoms of depression and increase self confidence Jon and Garret then split the cohort into small groups and provided them with relevant scenarios, asking them to think about what their initial responses would be in each case. After discussing their initial reactions, they were encouraged to dive deeper into the possible background information required for them to develop and demonstrate genuine empathy for the people involved. Some brave students presented their discussions as a role play to the rest of the cohort All students were extremely touched by the presentation and it was a great way to start the last day of camp.

YEAR 10 CAMP CONTINUED...

Our Year 10 students had the privilege of hearing from Mamuch Chuol, who at 18 years of age founded NextGen Unite, a youth led, not-for-profit organisation.

Mamuch arrived in Australia in 2007, as a refugee and shared that it was by the grace of God that he is where he is today Mamuch is currently completing a double degree in law and arts

Mamuch has overcome significant adversity and spoke to our students about his journey to Australia, not being able to speak English and the impact of racism Mamuch shared his refugee experience, but the role and the significance of his single mother, along with how important having God to depend on to guide him, was telling He encouraged the students to have good people around them and to draw on the knowledge and wisdom of parents and teachers. He spoke of his leadership and the potential others saw in him to bring about change for his South Sudanese community and encouraged our students, although young, to trust that they have much to offer

UNIFORM REMINDERS!

Oh dear It is Term 3 and the well-published and frequently-spoken about uniform protocols seem to be lost to many students Please be aware that we will begin issuing an immediate/that day detention for uniform infractions. For our Years 11 - 12 students this means that if they have depended on going down the street for lunch, they will be unable to leave campus that day to get their lunch Down-the-street policy also outlines that students are to purchase food ONLY for themselves and not for others. Please ensure that all students are in the correct uniform, no fake eyelashes, no runners and no sport uniform when it is not a sport day, etc.

Parents, please partner with us in upholding this important part of our College-life If you are not sure what the Uniform Policy is, please refer to the back of the school diary as it is clearly outlined in this space It is the responsibility of all families to be aware.

Current common infractions include

Girls wearing the school jumper without the school shirt and tie underneath
