A MESSAGE FROM MR CHRIS DROWLEY

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week our students participated in Science Week activities, starting with students dressing up as a Scientist on Monday. It was great to see many students partake in this and their creativity with their costumes.

Throughout the week students engaged in a variety of hands-on experiments, interactive displays, and creative STEM challenges The week sparked curiosity and inspired many young scientists across all year levels. A big thank you to our staff for making Science Week both educational and fun!

On Tuesday, students in Years 5 - 6 took part in an important Cyber Safety Workshop, where they learned how to stay safe and make smart choices online The sessions were age-appropriate and engaging, helping students understand the importance of digital responsibility in today’s world. For those parents who were able to attend the parent session on Tuesday evening, I am sure you would have found the session informative and helpful. Navigating technology in homes with our children is a definite challenge. I would like to highlight the following resource, SchoolTV, available on our College website with lots of information about how to support children as parents and caregivers This link will provide you with some further information about managing screen time: https://ncc.vic.schooltv.me/newsletter/managing-screen-time

On Friday, selected students in Years 3 - 6 participated in a Downball Tournament. Students demonstrated great sportsmanship, teamwork, and a strong sense of fair play Congratulations to all participants, and thank you to our staff for supporting the event

Next week, we’re excited to celebrate Book Week! This year’s theme is Book an Adventure! Students are invited to dress up as their favourite book character for our Book Week Costume Parade on Friday 22nd August 2025

As we prepare for this fun and meaningful event, we would like to remind families of a few important guidelines to ensure our celebration reflects the values of our Christian ethos:

Costumes should be positive, respectful, and in keeping with our Christian values

Please avoid costumes that are scary or inappropriate

Weapons of any kind, including swords, guns, or other imitation items, are not permitted.

Students should be dressed modestly and appropriately for a school setting.

We strongly encourage creative, home-made costumes.

Children who arrive in costumes that do not align with these guidelines may be asked to change into their school uniform. If a change of clothes is not available, parents may be contacted.

As we reflect on a week full of learning, fun and community spirit, let us also remember the importance of treating one another with kindness and respect

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Ephesians 4:32

Let this verse remind us to act kindly in everything we do, whether we're in the classroom, on the playground, or celebrating special events together.

God bless you,
