Dear Parents and Carers,
This will be my final message for this term, and what a wonderful term it has been! We are proud of the achievements of our students in what has been a wonderful semester of learning.
This week, a special highlight for our youngest learners was the Prep excursion to Bundoora Farm. This hands-on experience gave our students the chance to explore farm life up close feeding animals, learning about sustainable farming, and enjoying the great outdoors. It was a joy to see their curiosity and excitement as they connected what they have been learning in the classroom to the real world
Our Years 1 - 2 students also completed their final session at PIT Gymnastics this week. This program has been a fantastic way for students to build core strength, balance, coordination and confidence in a fun, supportive environment. It has been wonderful to see their progress over the term and the smiles on their faces as they celebrated new skills and milestones.
Another standout moment was the CSEN Cross Country Event, where selected students proudly represented our school with great effort and team spirit. The determination, sportsmanship, and encouragement displayed on the day was excellent. A heartfelt thank you goes to the dedicated staff and generous parent helpers who facilitated training sessions throughout the term. This support played a vital role in preparing our students and helping them give their best on the day
Semester 1 Reports will be made available to parents and carers through SEQTA before the end of term, providing a detailed overview of each student’s progress and development. We encourage families to take time to read and celebrate these learning journeys together. Early next term, we will host Parent Student Teacher Conferences (PSTC), offering a valuable opportunity to meet with teachers to discuss prior learning as well as focus areas for students during the second half of the year. Booking details will be shared with families shortly.
As we enter the school holidays, we are reminded of the gift of rest and togetherness. We pray that this break is filled with joyful moments, safe travels, and meaningful time shared with loved ones I am praying for you with the following prayer!
Dear Jesus, we thank You for the learning, friendships, and blessings of this past term. As we begin the holidays, we pray for rest and refreshment for our students, families, and staff. May this time be filled with joy, peace, and time to reconnect with each other and with You Watch over our community and bring us back together safely in Term 3 In Jesus' name, Amen
Wishing all our families a safe, happy and refreshing break.
Blessings,

More students are coming in after recess and lunchtime needing to change their socks, or even their pants
Please keep a spare pair of socks and pants in your child’s bags at all times, especially throughout Winter.
We understand that it may not be feasible for some families to have multiple uniform items, therefore, plain black tracksuit pants can be used in the event of an accident.
Northside has read 8,050 books so far.
Congratulations on surpassing last week’s goal of 8,000 books read!
We can’t wait to see how many books we will have read after the holidays. Reading is a great indoor activity for these cold days.

As we look forward to celebrating Book Week together, we are excited about the opportunity to encourage a love of reading and creativity across our school community This is a special time where students can bring their favourite characters and stories to life through costume and imagination
This year’s theme is Book an Adventure, and we encourage students to explore books that inspire courage, curiosity, and character-building journeys. As we prepare for this fun and meaningful event, we would like to remind families of a few important guidelines to ensure that our celebration reflects the values of our Christian ethos:
Costumes should be positive, respectful, and in keeping with our Christian Values. We ask that students choose characters who embody traits such as kindness, bravery, honesty, and compassion.
Please avoid costumes that are scary or inappropriate, including witches (good or bad), wizards (good or bad), demons, vampires, zombies, or any that involve blood, gore, or horror themes These can be upsetting to our younger students and are not in line with our school values
Weapons of any kind, such as swords, guns, or other imitation weapons, are not permitted.
Students should be dressed modestly and appropriately, with costumes that allow for safe play and participation throughout the school day. Closed-toe footwear is required
Children who come dressed in costumes that do not align with these guidelines may be asked to change into their school uniform (parents may be contacted if there is no change of clothes available).
We strongly encourage creative, home-made costumes that reflect beloved characters from books and stories If you are unsure whether a costume is appropriate, please speak with your child’s Home Group Teacher ahead of time
Thank you for your continued support in making Book Week a joyful, inclusive, and values-aligned event for all students. We look forward to seeing the wonderful ways our students bring books to life through their costumes and imaginations!
