This adaptation is set in a modern era, on the day of Jason’s wedding. Stephen Sawka, now in his tenth year at Westsyde Secondary School, says, “I read ‘Medea’ in university, and it’s always been on my wish list. It’s a dark revenge tale—and that’s fun for the performers to play exceptional roles they can sink their teeth into.” On the cusp of showcasing his twenty-first production, the Artistic Director of Performing Arts Westsyde credits the students behind creative collective. “From that first day of rehearsals to fading to black on closing night, it’s all about creating an authentic theatre experience with a professional polish.” Sawka continues, “As always, I want to give these students the best possible experience working in theatre.”
