A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

It feels like 2022 just flew by, but I am ecstatic to ring in the New Year with so many wonderful offerings on the horizon.

I am excited to announce we are bringing back youth soccer, bitty basketball, and a new opportunity for Cornhole Leagues. We have many new Passport cooking classes, of which Ms. Heather says she is most excited about Passport to Australia, and a new cooking series for active older adults called, Senior Cooking for One on a Budget.

Snake Saturday is just around the corner, and Parks is hosting the Lads & Lassies contest on Saturday, March 4th, for all the wee ones to show us their best ‘Irish Spirit,’ for a chance to ride in the Snake Saturday parade the following weekend.

We’ve already started planning for some big events coming up in September 2023 and want to give you an opportunity to put them on your calendar now.

The first is the KC Men’s Senior Baseball League will be going after a Guinness World Record right here at Macken Park on Diamond One, August 31-September 4, for the longest baseball game played of 100 consecutive hours. This event will have entertainment for the whole family and a goal of raising $300,000 for a variety of charities.

The second is a new festival we are bringing to Macken Park called ‘Briarfest – Levee Days.’ This event will be a two-day music festival on September 8th & 9th. This free family event will be filled with great music, food, art, entertainment, and fun opportunities.

We are looking forward to serving you and may you all have a safe and spectacular new year. Cheers!
