A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

I love the colors of Spring and Summer, beautiful blue skies, sunshine, green grass, flowering trees, and tulips blooming.

We are wrapping up our first round of Men’s and Coed Softball leagues and youth soccer as we prepare for youth softball, baseball, and t-ball. Shelter rentals are already picking up as families prepare for graduations, reunions, and the summer holidays. The splash pad at Dagg Park is scheduled to open Saturday, May 27 at 10am, weather permitting.

At the Center we are busy with indoor rentals, cooking, and art classes, along with preparing for summer camp opportunities.

The Arts in the Park Festival is just around the corner on June 9 (5pm-10pm) and 10 (10am-10pm). This year we are excited to bring 58 talented artists to the festival, along with a creative space for kids which includes crafts, bounce houses, caricaturists, and face painters. We will also feature live entertainment on and off stage, food trucks, and a beer garden.

Friday Night concerts are expanding this year, with an opening band at 5:30pm and the headliner at 7:30pm. These concerts are at Macken Park Festival Shelter and this season we have partnered with the Little Store and Snow & Roast for some delicious food options.

Also, at the Macken Park Festival Shelter, returning for the 45th season is Ken Remmert with Music in the Park, hosted over the lunch hour on Fridays, June-September, and our Movies in the Park, which start at dusk, in June, July, and August. More details of all these events can be found in the Special Event section.

Finally, I would like to thank ALL those who voted on April 4th and showed their support for the Parks Sales Tax. The initiative passed by 80%. These funds will allow us to continue to not only maintain, but be proactive in our approach, and continue to create great opportunities for our community.

We are looking forward to seeing you in the parks!

Cheers! Victoria
