MEADOWS GREYHOUNDS DIVISION 1 HEIDELBERG The Bridges journey to the Den today. Last year they

got the points at their ground and pushed us all day at home, so we expect a really tough contest. LAST WEEK’S WASH UP: A week of injury, an illness and a couple of guys playing a VFL under 23s game hit us pretty hard last week. With six of our available under-19s in our senior side we disappointingly had to forfeit our 19s. We’ve worked hard to crunch our player numbers and will be back on the ground in the 19s this week. SENIORS: Our senior team battled strongly in blustery conditions to come away with another hard-fought win against Bundoora. We are particularly proud of the efforts of our youngsters last week who all looked well at home in our senior side. RESERVES: Our twos recorded a really strong win as Favvy wound back the clock, kicking seven. Was a bit of a goal bonanza as Sauce also snagged six. AROUND THE CLUB: Trust that everyone enjoyed the great photo of Callum Lewis on the front cover of last week’s Northerner. It has been rumoured that he

HURSTBRIDGE Today we are on the road again to Heidelberg. SENIORS: What a difference a week is in football. The boys come to play and it showed. Really proud of the way they went about their footy. We showed that if we play for one another anything is possible. Best team game I’ve seen them play. Looking forward to another huge challenge in Heidelberg. Good luck boys! DEVELOPMENT: Firstly, I would like to congratulate Chicken, his coaching staff and the boys on their fantastic win. The development squad got off to a slow start in the first quarter allowing Whittlesea’s midfielders to dominate and get an early lead on us. After that we matched them around the ground with our pressure for the next three quarters, unfortunately not taking the 4 points but never giving up and really battled hard to the final siren. NETBALL: Hurstbridge 1 (32) def Keon Park 1 (28) Things were often rushed in the first half, and the ball needed to be protected more. After lots of hard defensive work, transitions were a bit predictable and the ball was given up too easily. The team was 16

contacted NFNL media to ask to be on the front cover as he’s a pretty photogenic lad. Been unable to prove the voracity of the rumour. PRESIDENTS LUNCH – SATURDAY MAY 12: Today we welcome Damien Hardwick, the reigning AFL premiership coach as our President’s Lunch speaker. At the time of going to print we have a sellout on our hands. For those coming to our footy club for lunch today we trust you have a great afternoon. For the Richmond supporters in attendance try and keep yourselves nice. PLAYER SPONSORSHIP: Interested in sponsoring a player’s subscription fees in 2018? This allowed more pace and control to surge to the lead in the last quarter. Hurstbridge 2 (29) def Bundoora 5 (9) Timing in the transitions from deep in defence all the way to goalers was fantastic to watch. Communication on the court was the best yet and everything just clicked. Defenders took some giant rebounds and got hands in the way for plenty of intercepts. Very disciplined defence to keep good distance and not obstruct which kept the pressure on. Goalers were very accurate and were on the end of great quality feeds. Hurstbridge 3 (27) def Bundoora 7 (17) Players worked their roles very well and showed they are becoming a solid team. Transitions down the court were neat and tidy, and goalers worked the circle well. Defenders applied very good pressure. Our first win of the season and a very good one at that! SPONSORS: We thank all our new and existing sponsors for their commitment in 2018. SOCIAL DATES: Tonight – Get your school uniforms ready for our Back to School Party at the club from 7pm; June 2 – Tile Club Gold Half Time Luncheon.
