There are myriad resources available on our campuses to help students, faculty, and staff share experiences and build support networks. With more than 350,000 students attending college in the Boston area, our community extends beyond the campus borders. Additionally, our Northeastern University Oakland campus continues the tradition of Mills College, which was deeply rooted in access, social justice, and a diverse and inclusive approach to higher education.

Northeastern is a global university that values diverse viewpoints, backgrounds, and life experiences. From 2011–2021, underrepresented minority students in our incoming first-year class increased from 12% to 28%. In addition, students from 78 countries are represented in this year’s incoming class, a 26% increase in international students from last year.

Through this brochure, you’ll get a glimpse of life as a Northeastern student—what our campus is like, where you’ll live, and who your peers will be. We encourage you to visit our campus to experience the Northeastern difference firsthand.

In 2020 President Aoun instituted the President’s Action Plan, demonstrating a renewed priority and ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion. Northeastern’s long-standing commitment to diversity permeates all facets of the university, and we have renewed this promise through the President’s Action Plan, which includes seven key initiatives:
