MEYMANDI CONCERT HALL

DUKE ENERGY CENTER

FOR THE PERFORMANCE ARTS ESCALATOR/STAIRS

I might need to go up or down the escalator, elevator, or stairs to get to my seat.

I can hold the handrail with one hand as I go down so that I stay safe!

On the escalator, I can stand on my step and wait to walk until I have reached the end.

MEYMANDI CONCERT HALL

DUKE ENERGY CENTER

FOR THE PERFORMANCE ARTS RESTROOMS

If I have to go the bathroom, I can walk with an adult that I came with.

The sound of the flushing toilet can be loud, but it will only be for a short time.

THE CONDUCTOR

The conductor will guide me through the concert.

They may ask me to participate, and I can if I want to.

THE CONCERT

I can have a lot of fun at a concert with the North Carolina Symphony.

I can clap at the end of each song to show that I enjoyed it.

You might find yourself feeling the beat as you listen but remember if you clap during the song, you won’t be able to hear the orchestra!

SING-ALONG

I can sing along to “Ode to Joy” with the other kids.

Before the sing-along, there may be kids playing instruments.

DISMISSAL

When the concert is over, I can wait for instructions on how to leave safely with my group.

I may need to wait a few minutes so I can talk quietly with the people around me about the concert until it is my turn to leave.

LEAVING

When it is my turn to leave, I can walk with my group.

I can hold the handrails if I am walking on the stairs or taking escalator.

There may be a lot of other kids in the lobby and outside, so I can stay close to my group.
