Harvest Festival
Year Six performed wonderfully at St Augustine's Church this week, leading years 1-6 through an interesting and thoughtful Harvest Festival. We learnt about the food grown here in the United Kingdom, the different ways that Harvest Time is celebrated throughout the world, and Year Six also shared their poetry and art work based on the theme of harvest. We also learnt some lessons from the Bible about sharing with those less fortunate and collected some generous donations for the local food bank. There were fantastic songs from all year groups and a super performance from senior choir. The children were exceptionally well mannered and well behaved during our visit to St Augustine's and were excellent ambassadors for the school, well done all!

Dudley Canals and Caverns Trip

Year 3 and 4 had a wonderful time at Dudley Canals and Caverns on Tuesday. The children took part in two workshops and took a narrow boat ride through the old mining tunnels of Dudley. The children had the opportunity to experience what life would have been like underground, mining coal and limestone in the 1800s.
Once they had returned to the surface, the children identified and learnt about different pieces of equipment used on a canal boat. These including a dipper, a Buckby can, cabin stools and pieces of crochet. Children learnt that people who lived on these boats had very little space to live. Some children had the opportunity to take part in a role play. From this, children learnt the roles and responsibilities of different family members living on the canals.
