President’s Message The 2015 outdoor season is almost upon us and I would like to encourage everyone to participate in the wide range of bowls events available to us this coming season!! First off, thanks to the Directors and volunteers who created the 2015 Handbook and to Bowls BC plus all our commercial and club advertising partners for financially making the production of this important communication tool possible. As you will see in this Handbook, and on the V&D website, your V&D Board of Management has done a terrific job over the winter months in coordinating the activities and tournaments at all our 22 Vancouver and District clubs with the other BC Districts, Bowls BC and Bowls Canada in order to minimize event conflicts and maximize our opportunity to play at all levels of competition, from social to Championship. A good season would also not be possible without the many event convenors and club volunteers on the ground who make everything happen, along with the Umpires and Coaches who facilitate good sportsmanship, fair competition, knowledge of the game and skills improvement which leads to greater enjoyment of the game at all levels. Your V&D Directors and many of the Club volunteers who make it all happen are listed in this Handbook. On behalf of all lower mainland bowlers, I extend my thanks and appreciation to each and every one of them for their super ‘behind the scenes’ efforts which makes everything possible. Finally, congratulations to the Granville Park and Kerrisdale Clubs who will both celebrate their 100th anniversaries in 2015. Have a wonderful season and I look forward to seeing you on the greens! David Arnott, President
