The NonToxicated Guide To The Ultimate Alcohol Free Christmas

Welcome to Clean Christmas!

A season of joy, warmth, and celebration, all experienced through the refreshing lens of an alcohol-free lifestyle

The holidays are a time of togetherness, reflection, and often, indulgence. However, the true essence of the season lies in the connections we make with our loved ones and the cherished memories we create. This is the heart of not only Christmas, but NonToxicated every day of the year!

Opting for a Clean Christmas means embracing the holiday spirit without the accompaniment of alcohol. It's about discovering new traditions, savouring every moment, and waking up each morning of the festive season feeling refreshed and clear-headed!

A note from our founder

Welcome to the second edition of The NonToxicated Guide to the Utimate Alcohol Free Christmas!

This year is bigger and (we think!) better than ever, we hope you agree?!

We know that the festive period can be a challenging time for some, with alcohol playing such a huge part in celebrations across the globe, but the tide is turning There are more and more choices available to those partaking in an alcohol free Christmas and for those who don’t want to over-do things and want their drinking to be more mindful.

This guide is all about celebrating the choices available to us – let’s not see it as a time of missing out, but as a time to treat ourselves, explore some new flavours, experiment with some festive non-alc cocktails and be inspired with ideas about how to make the most of Christmas without an alcoholic drink in your hand!

We are proud to have partnered with some amazing alcohol free and grown up soft drinks brands during 2024 and it’s lovely to see some new faces here in the guide There are so many amazing drinks being crafted, many by independent brands who don’t have the massive marketing budgets of the alcohol industry behemoths, and it’s our mission to help connect these brilliant brands with curious consumers! Every penny spent with these craft producers is an investment in improving choice in the alcohol free sector!

We hope you find inspiration in the pages of this INTERNATIONAL guide – we’d love some feedback on what you loved about it and any new drinks you’ve discovered. If something catches your eye then you can find all the links at the back of the Guide as well as a map showing the countries when you can grab all the fab products!

I would also like to take this opportunity to personally thank Laura and Leanne who have been beavering away like Santa’s elves (not the naughty ones!) working tirelessly to bring this Guide together!

Let’s Make this Christmas Alcohol Free but definitely not Fun Free!

The Benefits of A Clean Christmas

You’ll Actually Remember the Moments That Matter

One of the most beautiful parts of Christmas is the moments we create with loved ones: the laughter, the heartfelt conversations, the traditions Staying alcohol-free means:

- **Clear Memories**: No hazy recollections or forgotten jokes the next morning You’ll be fully present for every special moment

- **Heartfelt Connection**: Without alcohol dulling the senses, conversations often feel deeper and more meaningful, allowing for genuine connection

You’ll Save Money and Spend It on What Matters

The festive season can be expensive, and alcohol is often one of the biggest culprits. By going alcohol-free, you’ll:

- **Save on Drinks**: Alcohol-free alternatives are often less expensive, and even simple mocktail ingredients can stretch further than bottles of wine or spirits

- **Redistribute Funds**: Use the savings to invest in thoughtful gifts, experiences, or treats for yourself like a cozy holiday spa kit or that winter coat you’ve been eyeing

Your Health Will Thank You

December is often a month of overindulgence, but a clean Christmas gives your body a chance to thrive amidst the holiday chaos:

- **Better Sleep**: Alcohol disrupts sleep patterns, but skipping it means you’ll wake up refreshed and ready to tackle the festivities

- **Boosted Immunity**: Without alcohol’s immune-suppressing effects, your body is better equipped to fend off winter colds

- **Energy to Spare**: Say goodbye to sluggish hangovers and hello to a full day of Christmas adventures, from early morning gift unwrapping to latenight board games.

You’ll Make Room for New Holiday Traditions

When alcohol isn’t the centerpiece of your celebrations, you open the door to creativity and new experiences:

- **Festive Mocktails**: Experiment with seasonal drinks like spiced apple cider, cranberry spritzers, or a warming ginger tea

- **Activity-Based Gatherings**: Swap cocktail parties for cookie-decorating sessions, movie marathons, or a group winter walk

- **Family-Friendly Fun**: If children are part of your celebrations, alcoholfree holidays create a more inclusive and wholesome atmosphere

You’ll Stay Grounded in the True Spirit of the Season

Without alcohol, the focus of your celebrations shifts naturally to what matters most: love, connection, and gratitude

- **Mindful Presence**: You’ll feel more in tune with the festive energy around you, from the aroma of fresh pine to the crackle of the fire.

- **Deeper Gratitude**: Sobriety often heightens appreciation for the small joys of the season, like the taste of your favorite holiday treat or the warmth of a cozy blanket

You’ll Be a Role Model for Others

Choosing a clean Christmas can inspire those around you, even if they don’t say it out loud:

- **Normalizing Mindful Drinking**: By showing that celebrations can be vibrant and fun without alcohol, you help break the stereotype that booze is essential to a good time

- **Encouraging Openness**: Your choice might encourage others to reflect on their own habits and explore alcohol-free options

Your Skin Will Glow Literally

Here’s a bonus benefit you might not expect: clearer, more radiant skin Alcohol dehydrates the body, and the festive season often exacerbates this with late nights and rich foods An alcohol-free holiday means:

- **Improved Hydration**: Drinking more water and fewer dehydrating drinks like wine or beer leaves your skin plumper and more luminous

- **Fewer Breakouts**: Alcohol can trigger inflammation, which often shows up on the skin A clean Christmas could mean a clearer complexion for holiday photos!

You’ll Reduce Stress (Really!)

Alcohol is often used as a stress reliever during the holidays, but its effects are fleeting and can exacerbate anxiety later Staying alcohol-free helps you manage stress more sustainably:

- **Emotional Balance**: Without alcohol disrupting your mood, you’re more likely to respond calmly to holiday challenges, whether it’s burnt cookies or a last-minute gift scramble

- **Mindful Coping**: Engage in healthier stress-reduction practices, like yoga, journaling, or taking a walk under the stars

You’ll Wake Up Energized on Boxing Day

The joy of a clean Christmas extends into the days after While others might be nursing a post-holiday hangover, you’ll:

- **Make the Most of Boxing Day Sales**: With a clear head and energy to spare, you can snag those deals or enjoy a peaceful day at home

- **Continue the Fun**: Whether it’s sledding, hiking, or simply enjoying leftovers, you’ll have the stamina to fully embrace December 26th

It’s Easier Than You Think

Lastly, it’s worth noting that staying alcohol-free during the holidays might not be as challenging as you imagine:

- **Sober-Friendly Options Abound**: Many brands now offer delicious alcohol-free beverages, from sparkling wines to craft beers

- **Supportive Communities**: You’re not alone Join online groups, attend alcohol-free events, or reach out to sober friends for encouragement

A clean Christmas is about more than just cutting out alcohol; it’s about creating a holiday that’s vibrant, joyful, and meaningful. Whether this is your first alcohol-free Christmas or another step in your sober journey, know that you’re giving yourself the ultimate gift: the chance to experience the season in its full, unfiltered beauty

Homemade Syrups

INGREDIENTS

1 cup water

1 cup granulated sugar

Flavouring: vanilla bean, fresh herbs (eg mint or rosemary), citrus zest, berries, ginger, etc.

DIRECTION

1

Combine sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves.

2

3

Add your flavouring ingredient For herbs, a handful is sufficient; for citrus zest, use the zest of one fruit; for vanilla, one bean; for ginger, about an inch, peeled and sliced.

Bring to a simmer and then remove from heat Let the mixture steep for 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on how strong you want the flavour.

4

Strain the syrup to remove solids and store in a clean bottle or jar. Refrigerate for up to a month

Homemade Infused Vinegar

INGREDIENTS

2 cups vinegar (white wine, red wine, or apple cider vinegar)

Flavouring: herbs, fruits, edible flowers, spices

4

DIRECTION

1

2

3

Sterilise a glass jar by boiling it in water for 10 minutes.

Place your chosen flavourings in the jar Use a few sprigs of herbs, a handful of fruit, or a few tablespoons of spices.

Heat the vinegar until warm but not boiling, then pour it over the flavourings in the jar

Let the mixture cool, then seal and store in a cool, dark place for about 2 weeks

Infused Oils

INGREDIENTS

1 cup olive oil or other carrier oil

Flavouring: herbs (rosemary, thyme, basil), garlic, chilli, citrus zest

1

2

3

DIRECTION

Sterilise a glass bottle or jar

Gently heat the oil in a saucepan – it should be warm but not too hot to touch.

Add your flavourings directly into the bottle or jar. For herbs, a few sprigs will suffice; for garlic, use a few cloves; for chili, one or two will do depending on the heat desired

4

Pour the warm oil over the flavourings Seal the jar and let it infuse for about a week.

5

Strain out the solids Store the infused oil in a cool, dark place. It should be used within a month

NOTES

TIPS FOR INFUSIONS

Cleanliness: Ensure all jars, bottles, and your workspace are very clean to avoid contamination

Quantity: Adjust the quantity of the flavouring to your preference. More flavouring will result in a stronger infusion

Safety with Oils: Be especially cautious with garlic-infused oils, as they can be a risk for botulism if not handled properly Refrigerate and use quickly

Staying Mindful and Managing Stress without Alcohol

The holidays are often seen as a time of joy, connection, and celebration, but they can also bring stress, emotional challenges, and social pressures For many, the expectation to drink can add to the complexity of navigating the season. This guide offers practical tips for staying mindful, managing stress, and maintaining an alcohol-free holiday.

Recognise and Acknowledge Your Feelings

It’s okay not to feel festive all the time The holidays can bring up a range of emotions, including joy, nostalgia, and even sadness or anxiety. Take a moment to:

Acknowledge your feelings: Allow yourself to feel without judgment.

Name your emotions: Simply identifying what you’re feeling can be a powerful way to process and move forward

Practice acceptance:

Remember, it’s okay to have mixed emotions during the holidays

Build a Mindfulness Practice

Mindfulness helps you stay present, reduce stress, and respond to challenges with greater clarity. Try these simple practices:

Breathing Exercises:

Inhale deeply for four seconds, hold for four

Body Scan Meditation:

Sit or lie down in a comfortable position.

Slowly bring your attention to each part of your body, starting from your toes and moving upward, noticing any tension or sensations.

Mindful Walks:

Take a walk in nature or a nearby park, paying attention to your surroundings the colors, sounds, and scents.

Create a Journaling Routine

Journaling is a therapeutic way to reflect and process your thoughts. Use these prompts to guide your writing:

What am I grateful for today? What challenges am I facing, and how can I approach them with kindness? What small moments of joy did I experience this week?

Set aside 10–15 minutes each day to write. Use this time as a judgmentfree space to explore your feelings and intentions

Set Healthy Boundaries

It’s important to protect your emotional well-being during the holidays, especially in social settings

Here’s how:

Prepare Responses: If someone offers you a drink, have a polite and confident response ready, such as, “No thanks, I’m enjoying this mocktail.”

Limit Overcommitment: It’s okay to say no to events or obligations that feel overwhelming.

Prioritise Self-Care: Schedule downtime for yourself to recharge.

Explore Calming Routines

Incorporate calming activities into your daily routine to manage holiday stress:

Take a Warm Bath: Add soothing scents like lavender or eucalyptus

Try Aromatherapy: Use essential oils or candles to create a relaxing atmosphere E i C ti H bb

A little more about Zeno!

ZENO was born out of a desire to provide high-quality alcohol-free wines, a vision shared by its founders, both wine trade veterans, David Hodgson and Will Willis David, who went alcohol-free for health reasons, and Will joined forces with their partner winery in Spain and a team of experts Together, they embarked on a mission to craft alcohol-free wines that offer the mouthfeel and balance of traditional wines Their approach is unique: avoiding the common practice of using sweetness to mask the absence of alcohol, they pioneered new techniques to maintain the texture, flavour, and aromatics that wine lovers yearn for. The result is a range of wines that can stand proudly alongside their alcoholic counterparts, whether enjoyed on their own or with a meal.

My Mindful Christmas

With Roger Newbould

We are excited to bring our Mindful Christmas interview questions to Roger, our newest NonTox Advocate and action man, Roger! Since joining NonTox Roger has been full of va va voom, enthusiasm and has been regaling us all with his tales of adventure!

Roger, thanks for taking the time, let’s get to know you a bit better!

Tell us about your alcohol free journey…

6 years ago, when I stopped drinking (ironically in between Christmas and New Year) everyone was asking me what was wrong! I’m a Yorkshire Lad and people couldn’t understand it Back then, when I went out, people were trying to force drinks on me, but I stood my ground and refused them. Then after a year of saying no, people were more accepting and started to tell me that they envied me and wished they could give up. They saw that I was still the same person without the booze! I still go out and have fun, but it’s a different kind of fun now, but people are more respectful and even my drinking mates are curious and will often partake in an alcohol free tipple with me too. I’ve met some new friends as part of my sobriety too!

What traditions do you have that make the Festive Season special to you?

I work with children in care, often with no family, so I love to go visit them and share a mince pie and hot chocolate with them! I’m also famous for making my special recipe chill & coriander pickled onions apparently Christmas wouldn’t be the same without them!

Have you got any AF drinks stashed for Christmas?

I was lucky enough to get one of the Wise Bartender advent calendars, so I’ve been stashing some of those! I can’t wait to open Day 24 in front of my log fire with some chilli chocolate, my chilli & coriander pickled onions and a big wedge of pork pie! (not sharing not sorry!)

What other alcohol-free tipples will you be enjoying over Christmas?

Whatever anyone buys me! It’s become a bit of a thing with people…they love to buy me any weird and wonderful AF drinks they spot! I’ve got a few favourites though that I will be stocking up on…Gunners Light, Little Rick CBD for when the stress levels increase, a few Big Drop Beers and the Lyre’s American Malt!

We know you’re an outdoorsy kind of person and like to take an alcohol free drink with you on your travels…What’s the weirdest place you’ve cracked open an AF drink?

Well, there’s been a few weird places…top of mount Snowed was an interesting one! We bumped into Matt Baker the TV Presenter on our way down and enjoyed an alcohol free beer with him! I’m also partial to an AF drink on my paddle board and in my ice tub!

Which alcohol free drink feels particularly Christmassy?

I had a Kasteel Rouge Original in York at the weekend and that felt very Christmassy!

What do you always look forward to eating on Christmas Day ?

Pigs in Blankets and I don’t know why but I’m banned from the Sprouts!

If things get stressful over the festive season, how do you wind down?

With an ice bath and an AF drink…of the CBD variety if I’ve got one!

We see you’ve been a member of the NonToxicated community for a while now. What do you enjoy about being a member of our NonTox community?

I love trying new drinks and sharing my HONEST feedback with the group I never knew so many drinks existed ‘til I joined the NonTox community! Everyone is friendly and not judgmental too and I love that it’s not a sober group it’s just about the drinks!

Thanks for letting us get to know all about you and your Mindful Christmas! We look forward to seeing what you get up to over the festive season!

Roger is from Castleford, West Yorkshire, England and I have been sober for the last 6 years. I love travelling, adventuring, doing new things and reviewing alcohol free drinks!

My Mindful Christmas

With Seadrift Distillery

Hello to everyone at Seadrift! We are so happy to have you in our Mindful Christmas feature! Let’s crack on with getting to know you better!

Hi NonToxers!

I am Caraolyn Whiteley - Co-Founder at Seadrift

What are your plans for Christmas Day this year?

This Christmas, my entire extended family yep, all 23 of us are trading tinsel for tents and heading up north from Sydney to the Myall River Campground. Nestled right on the river, this eco-friendly slice of paradise will be our home base for a festive glamping adventure.

With the Aussie summer cranking up the heat, our days will revolve around cooling river dips, spirited backyard cricket matches, and sizzling BBQ feasts. It’s shaping up to be a sun-soaked, memory-packed holiday, with just enough chaos to keep it interesting!

What traditions do you have in your household that make the Festive Season special to you?

For us, it’s a quirky blend of classic English winter vibes and laid-back Aussie summer fun, thanks to 20 years living in London. Christmas Eve is all about tradition: a formal church service, singing carols, setting out Santa sacks, and unwrapping brand-new PJs for everyone to cozy up in. But Christmas Day? That’s pure Aussie magic lobsters, fresh prawns, crisp salads, and hitting the beach for a surf session, usually with a shiny new surfboard or two in tow. It's the best of both worlds, wrapped up in sun and sparkle!

What alcohol free and soft drinks do you stock up on to ensure a Mindful Drinking Christmas?

We take bar duty seriously in our household, so our festive drinks menu is always stocked with something for everyone—alcoholic and non-alcoholic alike That way, anyone can easily switch over to 0% options and keep the party rolling

The star of the show? Our 0% cocktail lineup! Seadrift is our go-to for crafting everything from zesty Mojitos to elegant Cosmopolitans, and even a smooth whiskey on ice to pair with dessert This year, we’re debuting our brand-new Seadrift by Jules Non-Alc Orange Aperitif It’s a game-changer bursting with vibrant, juicy orange flavors without the overpowering bitterness some Aperitifs have. We’re mixing it with 0% Prosecco and finishing it with an orange slice and rosemary sprig. Perfection in a glass!

Other than Seadrift (of course!) what alcohol-free tipple will you be enjoying with Christmas Dinner?

I’m all about the Sobah Finger Lime beer it’s crisp, refreshing, and pairs beautifully with prawns and seafood A true Aussie summer favorite!

What are you hoping to see in in your Christmas Stocking this year?

A voucher for a day off because nothing says festive cheer like some well-earned downtime!

What are you doing for your works Christmas party? Do you have alcohol free options for people?

We’re treating the team to a fabulous dinner at Jonah’s at Whale Beach. Their head bartender, Gaston, whips up incredible mocktails that pair beautifully with the venue’s wagyu beef and seafood dishes. It’s going to be unforgettable!

What’s the best way to sip Seadrift over the Festive period?

Our range of Christmas mocktails has something for everyone. Whether it’s a Summer Pavlova mocktail with hibiscus notes or a Seadrift Whiskey Sour to enjoy with a cheese board, you’ll find the perfect pairing for any holiday meal.

Elf on The Shelf – Yes or No?!

Hard no! After years of the kids begging, I finally gave in, but the pressure of staging elaborate elf antics on top of Christmas prep? Forget it. Our elf stays snoozing in the bottom of the decoration box.

What is your favourite thing about the Festive period?

The Boxing Day Cricket match, hands down. I am a cricket traffic at heart and there is nothing better than a test match to sleepily keep half an eye on between trips to the drive on on Boxing Day.

Which of your drinks should be top of our Christmas list?

It’s a tough call, but Seadrift Wild Hibiscus and Seadrift Whiskie are crowd favorites

Which countries are your drinks available in?

Australia and soon to be UAE.

Where is the best place to buy them? Online and in stores?

Online at www.seadriftdistillery.com In stores - Dan Murphys Or ask for it by name in good quality restaurants and bars

Can we try your drinks in bars and restaurants? so where should we head?

Absolutely! In Sydney, check out Firedoor, Quay, Margaret’s, the Copella Hotel, Luna Lu, Pier One, LoveFish at Barangaroo, and plenty more. Cheers to a mindful and delicious festive season!

Thanks so much Carolyn for letting us into your Aussie Mindful Christmas! It sounds amazing and frankly we are a little jealous over here in our minus temps!

Carolyn Whiteley is the visionary cofounder behind Seadrift Distillery, Australia’s first dedicated non-alcoholic distillery. The inspiration behind Soruhl comes from Sorrel, a Jamaican Christmas staple that's typically served cold over ice. But we are far from the caribbean climate, during Christmastime here it can be served hot, with a cinnamon stick, some orange peel and maybe star of anise, just like glögg or mulled wine on those cold winter nights.

9. What is your favourite thing about the Festive period?

Yes! Soruhl is available in a number of bars and restaurants in Sweden and we have just partnered with Le Magasin, their Dry Bar concept at NK Stockholm department store, is a space where the world of non-alcoholic drinks comes alive. Customers have the opportunity to engage with expert bartenders who share the benefits of conscious drinking while showcasing the unique stories behind each brand.

Thanks so much for talking to us about all things Soruhl and your Mindful Christmas. We can’t wait to be able to get our hands on your drink in the UK and rest of the world next year!

Samantha Coward founded Soruhl in 2021, inspired by her Jamaican heritage and love for traditional sorrel. Raised in the UK and now based in Sweden, Samantha brings over a decade of beverage industry experience to her brand. Soruhl delivers authentic Jamaican flavors to the international expanding non-alcoholic beverage market.

Self Care Rituals

for Christmas

The holiday season can be a joyful time, but it can also be overwhelming, especially when navigating sobriety. Practicing self-care is essential for maintaining balance, reducing stress, and staying connected to your goals The best part? Self-care doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated Here’s a guide to alcohol-free holiday self-care rituals that you can create at home on a budget, with essential tips for supporting your sobriety journey

1. Create a Calming Spa-Like Experience at Home

Bring the relaxation of a spa to your home with these budget-friendly ideas:

DIY Bath Soak: Combine Epsom salts, a few drops of your favorite essential oil (like lavender or eucalyptus), and dried herbs like chamomile or rosemary for a soothing soak

Cost Estimate: £5 / $7 USD / $10 AUD for ingredients from local stores

Candlelight and Music: Light candles (or use LED tealights) and play calming music to create a serene atmosphere

Facial Steam: Boil water, pour it into a bowl, and add herbs or essential oils. Drape a towel over your head and enjoy a five-minute steam to refresh your skin and senses.

Tip: Use kitchen herbs like mint, thyme, or lemon peel for a zero-cost alternative.

2. Practice Mindfulness and Reflection

Mindfulness can help you stay present and reduce holiday stress. Incorporate these simple, low-cost practices:

Journaling: Reflect on your sobriety journey, gratitude, and intentions for the new year. Use prompts like:

What am I proud of in my sobriety journey?

What do I want to bring into my life in the new year?

What small joys did I experience today?

Cost Estimate: £1 / $2 USD / $3 AUD for a notebook or use free digital apps like Google Keep

Guided Meditation: Use free resources like YouTube or meditation apps (many offer free trials) to find a guided meditation that suits you.

Gratitude Practice: Write down three things you’re grateful for each morning or evening. Gratitude can shift your mindset and provide clarity.

3. Stay Connected to Your Sobriety Support System

Sobriety is a journey that’s often easier with a support network Prioritize these essential self-care steps:

Know Your Local Meetings: Research Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), SMART Recovery, or other local meetings to attend during the holidays. Virtual options are also available for convenience.

Cost: Free to attend. Find meetings at AA UK, AA USA, or SMART Recovery. Have a Sponsor or Accountability Partner: Regular check-ins with a sponsor or trusted friend can help you stay grounded Schedule calls or coffee meet-ups to stay connected

Cost: Free, but the emotional value is priceless

Plan Quiet Time: Block out time on your calendar for rest and reflection Even 30 minutes a day to unplug from holiday chaos can work wonders for your well-being

4. Nourish Your Body and Mind

Taking care of your physical health supports your emotional well-being. Here’s how to do it affordably:

Stay Hydrated: Keep a festive water pitcher with slices of citrus, cucumber, or mint for a refreshing and hydrating treat

Cost Estimate: £2 / $3 USD / $5 AUD for ingredients

Cook Comforting Meals: Choose simple recipes like vegetable soups, hearty stews, or warm porridge to nourish your body

All About Kombucha

Kombucha, the fizzy, tangy, and oh-so-trendy drink, has become a staple for those seeking an alcohol-free alternative during the festive season. Whether you’re a long-time fan or just discovering this unique beverage, kombucha offers a refreshing and versatile option to elevate your alcoholfree celebrations.

Here’s everything you need to know about kombucha, including its origins, benefits, and how to incorporate it into your holiday festivities

What is Kombucha?

Kombucha is a fermented tea made by combining tea, sugar, and a SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast) Over time, the SCOBY ferments the tea, creating a drink that’s slightly sweet, slightly tangy, and naturally fizzy Kombucha comes in a variety of flavors, often infused with fruits, herbs, or spices for added

The Health Benefits of Kombucha

While kombucha is loved for its taste, it also boasts several health benefits that make it a fantastic choice for the holiday season:

1. Gut Health Support:

Kombucha is packed with probiotics, which can support a healthy gut microbiome. This is especially helpful during the holidays when indulgent foods can sometimes upset your digestion.

2. A Natural Energy Boost:

Kombucha contains small amounts of caffeine and B vitamins from the tea, providing a gentle lift without the jitters

3. Rich in Antioxidants:

Made from tea, kombucha contains antioxidants that help combat oxidative stress, which can be especially beneficial during the busy festive period.

4. Low in Sugar:

While kombucha starts with sugar,

- Fruity kombucha flavors, like berry or apple, complement desserts such as mince pies or fruitcake.

Choosing the Right Kombucha

Not all kombucha is created equal When selecting kombucha for your celebrations, keep these tips in mind:

1. Go for Real Kombucha:

Look for brands that use natural fermentation without added carbonation or artificial flavors.

2. Check Alcohol Content:

While kombucha is considered nonalcoholic, it can contain trace amounts of alcohol (usually below 0.5%). Opt for brands labeled as fully alcohol-free if needed

3. Explore Flavors:

Many brands offer festive flavors perfect for the season, such as spiced apple, cranberry, or chai

Many traditional dishes can be adapted to be alcohol-free without losing their essence. Here are some alternatives for cooking ingredients:

Wine in Cooking: Use alcohol-free wine, grape juice, or a mix of vinegar and fruit juice for a similar depth of flavour.

Brandy in Desserts: Brandy can be replaced with alcohol-free brandy essence or a syrup made from fruit juices and spices.

Beer in Batters and Stews: Swap beer with non-alcoholic versions or a mixture of stock and a dash of vinegar.

Liquor in Sauces or Marinades: Use fruit purees, juices, or vinegars, and add a touch of liquid smoke if you're after a deeper flavour profile.

With these adjustments, your Christmas menu will be just as delectable and more inclusive for all your guests. Celebrate the holidays with sumptuous food that respects the spirit of a Clean Christmas and ensures that everyone at the table can indulge freely and joyfully.
