I have had the most magnificent year with Eagles 2022 – 2023. They have been enjoyable to teach, and I have observed them grow into independent, expressive, mature, courageous, inquisitive individuals. Their inner motivation, principled behaviour, and willingness to challenge themselves shined across the school. They are all true NLCS Dubai students, who have found a transformed love of learning through the IB Curriculum and pastoral support that we provide here at our school.

Eagles Class studied six units of inquiry named, ‘Leadership,’ ‘Ancient Civilizations,’ ‘Science and Technology’ ‘Express Yourself,’ ‘Equality’ and ‘Changes.’ This year, and many of them would agree that they enjoyed making their dioramas based on ancient civilizations for their mini-exhibition and working collaboratively for their PYP Exhibition. I was thrilled to be part of the PYP Exhibition again this year. I observed the 8-week process evolve where each student started their exhibition with a passion in a subject to the end, where they delivered a visual display and presentation about one of the UN Sustainable Living Goals.

Grade 5 loved the enrichment and trips this year. We visited the Etihad Museum where they found and reported on the Founding Fathers, going to the Dubai Frame with the Arabic department and visiting another Dubai school to experience their PYP exhibitions. Here, the Eagles were inspired to take their ideas and adapt it to improve their visual presentations. However, they would agree with me that their favourite trip was the Residential in Sir Bani Yas Island, west of Abu Dhabi. All students really enjoyed camping in tents, taking part in mangrove planting, snorkeling, jeep safari, land and sea survival but also eating the delicious food from the Anantara hotel. I have many fond moments of the year, but my best memory was the desert disco at the Residential trip and the G5 Graduation where we were able to look back on our incredible year together.

Thank you, students, for laughing at my jokes and bringing joy to my final year at NLCS Dubai. I wish many of you the best for Grade 6 at NLCS or good luck for your new adventures in new schools across the world!
