This year, we have reintroduced the popular Grade 2 sleepover! The grade 2 children began the day at Aventura park in Mushrif. It was vital to show good listening and the children did not disappoint. They undertook the training needed to wear the harness correctly and to enter the rope maze. This training allowed the children to reach the high heights of the ziplines and ropes. Whilst climbing the ropes, Mr Parry snuck off to take pictures from high above on the black ropes- the hardest of all the obstacles. Of course the other teachers were left to monitor the children while he “monkeyed” about. After an energy refuel of pizza and chips, the children set off on their next adventure. They completed different games to develop their communication skills, such as get across the burning quick sand!
After being involved in a range of different team buildings games, they returned to school to begin their Mountain Quest experience. The children were overjoyed to find the flat tents in the PAC and sports hall and they were surprisingly quick assembling the tent- we definitely have some budding campers in the grade. Mountain quest then taught the children a variety of survival skills and they had a blast. Picnic in budge square then led to the crescendo of the day. The campfire! They roasted their marshmellows and danced by the fire, even the teachers had some good dance moves. After the fun of the campfire, there was a lot of tired Grade 2s and bedtime passed by with easeall we could hear from the PAC was the dulcet tones of Mr Parry’s snoring. It was such a wonderful experience and hopefully the children have memories they will cherish.
