Message from the Principal
‘I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.’

As I approach the end of my time here in Dubai, I reflect on what has been a fantastic experience. Being a part of setting up our first and second international schools in the NLCS family has been a privilege and I am very proud of what has been achieved. I only depart for what is another adventure and I am very pleased that I will remain in touch with you all as a Principal of another one of our schools.
One of my favourite weekly events is showing the school off to prospective parents. I feel immensely proud of the staff and students at the school and am always excited for people to meet them all. When I am asked what I like most about the school, or what I will miss the most, the answer is always the students; they embody the NLCS ethos and demonstrate all the values that we have as a community.
‘To whom much is given, much is expected.’
To have students who understand what giving back is all about is the most important aspect of educating our children. Saying hello in the corridor, greeting people in the morning or saying farewell in the afternoon are all important aspects of our daily interactions as human beings. I hope that of all our students would seek out the student sitting on their own and ask if they want some company.
I always ask staff if they know the names of the cleaners and the security guards, and if they greet them every day in the same way they would their friend. Our community should be founded on these principles and values, as these are what make it strong.
So, as I leave NLCS Dubai, my plea to you all is take a chance, work hard and give your best, live a life you are proud of, give back and enjoy the amazing opportunities you are given in our wonderful school. But most importantly of all, when you have time, remember to read a book and do some exercise.
