Role of Physiotherapy

The aim of the Physiotherapy Unit is to assist the clinical team in promoting the mobility and independence of patients at NIMH.

Physiotherapy is available as a day service in all Sections of NIMH

Any Consultant/ Senior Registrar/ Registrar/ Medical Officer may refer inward patients to Physiotherapy at NIMH

Outpatients and staff that require physiotherapy services need to have valid referral and should get Director Approval.

1. Routine physiotherapy. 2. Routine physiotherapy at ward for non-ambulatory clients. 3. Performing chest physiotherapy to obtain sputum samples for investigations. 4. Infrared treatment. 5. Ultrasound treatment. 6. Short wave diathermy treatment. 7. Muscle stimulation treatment·

Advanced physiotherapy treatment plans should be subjected to the supervision of the Consultant Physician.
