Gingerbread People Cookies ingredients:

1tbsp ground ginger

545g plain flour

1 heaped tsp ground nutmeg

1tsp baking powder

1 heaped tsp ground cloves

Icing ingredients:

½ tsp salt

360g butter, softened

125g icing sugar

1½ tsp cinnamon

545g soft brown sugar

25g water

2 medium eggs

Method: 1. Melt the butter and allow to cool 2. Meanwhile, sift the dry ingredients together in a large bowl 3. Cream the cooled butter together with the sugar and gradually add the beaten eggs. You can do this by hand or with an electric beater 4. Mix the wet ingredients with the dry until fully combined and you have a dough 5. Cling film the dough and refrigerate for an hour 6. Preheat the oven to 180°c 7. Line 2 trays with baking paper 8. Roll out your dough to the thickness of a £1 coin

9. Using a cookie cutter, carefully cut out your gingerbread people and place onto your prepared trays, leaving an inch between each person

10. Bake for 10mins 11. Leave to cool while mixing your icing sugar and water together until smooth. Add any food colouring you’d like at this stage 12. Make sure your gingerbread people are cool to touch before icing on your designs!
