Project 1: Walk on the wildside Despite the start of this semester beginning digitally, we started the first of our four 2-week projects with a site visit. This set the format for the rest of the projects. Site Visit, Precedent Study, Initial Ideas, and Final Presentation. This project allowed me to use the skills I learned from last term’s codex project. While it was just the start, this proved to be one of my favorite projects. It felt simplistic in its nature and easy to represent.

Project 2: Woven treads Moving into in-person classes, this project was much more open to critique from others. It was molded in a couple different way before a deadline set it in its place. This was the first battle with an quick deadline and it taught me to move continuously throughout a project.

It developed my process and push towards sketches and perspectives.

Project 3: Prism of light This educational sundial tower was the result of light studies and research about form. There was a push for a new triangular prism form that showcased a gradual rise in elevation and program.

The combination of form and function is what makes this project. At every hour on the hour a slab of light cuts through the building. The model provided me with a very developed means of presenting this idea.

Project 4: rounding the corners At the halfway mark, I had developed an understanding of how to work through 2 week projects as a series of exploration through multiple tools. This project showcased those tools through physical and digital models, sketches and post processing. Desgined to purely juxtapose a preexisitng form while providing a supportive function was my main goal for this project.

Project 5: Precendential Peace The second half of the semester was composed of the developing a House of Peace for a Peace Alter. This project proved to be the most in depth exploration of my education. The plans, elevations and site choices were changed a plethora of times. It opened my eyes up further to what architecture can be and made me more confident in my design choices.
