National Museum of African American Music

Welcome to the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM), the only museum of its kind dedicated to preserving and celebrating the history of Black music in America. The museum’s expertly-curated collections share the story of the American soundtrack by integrating history and interactive technology to bring the musical heroes of the past into the present.

NMAAM was born out of a proposal from the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce in 2002, as a way to celebrate and preserve African Americans’ influence on music and provide residents and visitors with diverse cultural offerings.

The National Museum of African American Music broke ground in early 2017 and officially opened in 2021. Since its opening, NMAAM has welcomed guests from across the U.S. and is one of Music City’s top must-see tourist destination.

AUCTIONEER

Matt Rogers

Matt Rogers is a TV show personality, NFL Announcer, and business owner. After becoming a Rose Bowl Champion in 2001 with the Washington Huskies, Matt followed his passion for television. He first found fame as a Season 3 finalist on FOX’s reality singing competition “American Idol.” Matt began auctioneering in 2008 when his son was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. Matt and his wife wanted to give back to a cause that gave people hope for a better future. Rogers is a proud husband to wife Teri, and father to Brayden (18), Mason (16), Samantha (10) & Brooklyn (2).

The Century Society is a community of people who are committed to fully funding the mission of the school by contributing a full scholarship or more to New Hope Academy. The Society was founded in 2018 upon the idea that the supporters of New Hope are sowing seeds for the good of our community far into the next century, alongside the reality that the school provides approximately 100 scholarships each year. With the goal of reaching 100 scholarship donors for each of those 100 scholarships given, we had 43 Century Society members for the 2023-24 school year. With 28 Century Society members so far this year, we are well on our way to surpassing that number. We would be honored for you to consider becoming a member of our Century Society, ensuring that one of our scholarship students continues to have the opportunity for a life-changing education at New Hope Academy!

As more and more New Hope supporters understand the benefits of using donor advised funds (DAF) for their charitable giving, please note the following. You may not use your donor advised fund for any donation for which you receive something in return (i.e. silent/live auction). You may use your donor advised fund to make a donation for which you receive nothing in return (like the Fund-a-Dream paddle raise!). If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask Parker Page, NHA Director of Development, for clarity.
