Chapter1 Introduction

Theissueofenergybalanceinbuildingsisofsignificantimportancenowadays,since conventionalenergysourcesarerunningoutandbecomingextremelyexpensive.In additiontothedevelopmentofanenvironmentallyfriendlydesignisbeingabasic requirementfornewEUdirectives,theabovementionedfactsarethemainreasons behindmakingthepassivedesignofbuildingsoneofthemostcrucialandfundamentalfactorsinbuildings’energysavings.Basicenvironmentaldesignparameters shouldbecarefullyimplementedintheoveralldesigndecisions.

Abuilding’sskinisthedesignelementthathastobalanceallenvironmental dynamicsbetweentheinteriorandexterior.Transparentandopaquematerials,the openingsandthewalls,affectabsorption,reflectionandtransmissionofsolarand thermalradiationtotheinterior.Controltheamountofsolarenergyisoneofthemost crucialfactorsforthebuilding’senvironmentalbalance.Inopaquefaçadematerials, radiationcontrolisincorporatedwithintheirinsulatingandreflectivityproperties. Concerningtransparentfaçadeelementsthough,radiationcontrolbecomesamuch moredelicatesubjectduetothevulnerabilityoftheseelementstoradiation.AccordingtoGivoni[1,p.213]“heatgainthroughasunlitglassismanytimeshigherthan throughanequalareaofanordinarywall”.

Suncontrol“machines”,orshadingdevices,playamajorroleinthecontrol ofincidentsolarandthermalradiationfortransparentelements.Theirgeometry, positioninrelationtoglazingandoperationalstrategy(inthecasesofmovable systems),permitthecontrolofheatandlightenteringthebuilding.Materialand colorareadditionalparametersinfluencingtheirfinalperformance.Additionally,sun controlmachines,determinetheaestheticsofthefaçadeandconstituteanexpression ofthearchitecturallanguageofthedesigner.

Thearchitecturalappearanceofsuncontrolisnotaneffectinitself-itistheresultofseveral otherdevelopments.[2, 3,p.6]

ThefundamentalgeometricrulesforeffectiveShadingDesigncomefromthe necessityofpreventingdirectsolarradiationfromenteringtheinterior.Olgyayand

Olgyay[4]hasdevelopedtheserulessince1957:theyhavebeenintegratedintoalgorithmicrelationswhichweresubsequentlyincorporatedintocomputerapplications, inordertocreatevarioustechnicallycorrectgeometricalconfigurations.Inanycase, thedecisionforthefinalgeometricconfigurationisproposedbythedesigner.Itis whatOlgyayarguesaboutinhisbook“SolarControlandShadingDevices”:“This isthelinewherethetechnicalmethodendsandcreativeexpressiontakesover ”.

AtthetimeOlgyaywasarguingaboutthissubject,buildingtechnologyscience wasinitsinfancy.Sincethen,avarietyoffactorshavestartedtoinfluencethe geometryofshadingdevices(SDs).Thebalancebetweenheatingandcoolingloads, controlofdiffuseradiation,visualandthethermalpropertiesoftheglazingused, requireddaylightenvironment(accordingtotheusers’task),energybalancebetween electriclightneedsandcoolingloadsareadditionalfactorscurrentlytakeninto accountforthedesignofSDs.

1.1ProblemDefinition—ObjectiveofThisBook

Themainobjectiveoftheworkpresentedinthisbookistoemphasizetheenergy balancecontradictionthatoriginatesfromfixedshadingdevices:thesimultaneous reductionofabuilding’scoolingloadsandtheincreaseofitselectriclightneedsdue tothereductionofincidentsolarradiation.Aresponsetothiscontradictionhasbeen introducedbymovableshadingsystemsthatareabletoadapttodifferentweather conditionsandsunposition,andconsequentlyoptimizetheabovementionedenergy balancebymeansoftheircontrollablenature.Butthedisadvantagesofimplementingexternalmovableshadingsystemsarequiteafew.Themostimportantisthe highdegreeofmaintenanceneeded,thelowdegreeofusers’acceptancedueto theirfrequentchangeabilityespeciallyinofficebuildingsandthehighcostoftheir installation.

InordertobalancethepositiveeffectofthedecreaseofcoolingloadsthatfixedSD accomplishandthenegativeeffectoftheincreaseofelectricityneedsforlighting andthermalcomfort,thesolutionofelectricityproducedthroughintegratedPV systemsisapotentialenergybalancesolutionforvariousSDsgeometries.BuildingintegratedPVsystemswereintroducedtothemarketinthe1980s.Sincethistime, theintegrationofPVsystemsinshadingdeviceshasbeenproposedasanenergy efficientandeconomicsolution.Thisisduetothefactthatbyasinglebuilding elementbothenergyreductionandenergyproductioncanbeachieved.

PVintegratedintoshadingsystemscanovercomethereductionofdaylightthat fixedshadingsystemsimposebyproducingtheelectricityneededfortheelectric light.Atthesametimethough,PVintegrationcancauselessdaylightavailability thansimpleshadingsystems.Forexample,avarietyoftypesofshadingsystems withintegratedPV,areefficientenoughandcancovertheelectricityneedstolight anofficeunit,fortheperiodsthatdaylightisfallingunder500lux(thelimitfor daylightefficiencyforofficework).

Thisbookismainlyfocusedontypicalofficebuildings.Thisisduetothefact thatofficebuildingshaveveryspecificrequirementsofdaylightlevelsaccording tothetaskoftheusersandthepositionofthesubjectsinrelationtotheopening. Additionally,nowadays,officeworkisdoneeverywhere.Peopleworkeverywhere,at awaitinghall,atthestationorathome.Everybuildingisapotentialoffice.Shading systemsprovidingcomfortableworkingconditionswithlessenergyareessentialfor sustainablebuildings.

WefocusontheperformanceofSDswithintegratedPVinrelationtotheelectricity needsandtheelectricityproductionoftheofficeunitthattheyshade.Formost ofthem,themetricsoftheirbasicgeometrycorrespondtotheexclusionofdirect solarradiationenteringtheofficeduringtheoverheatedperiod.Thisdependsonthe latitudeandthedesiredhoursofshade.Duetothesymmetricalmovementofthe sunaroundthesummersolsticethough,forthedesiredshadingperiodtheopening isactuallyshadedforalongerperiodthatisrequired.Forexample,inthecaseof southernGreece,ifwewouldliketoshadetillthe24thofAugust(whentheend oftheoverheatedperiodisestimated)andasymmetricaldesignoftheshadingis required,theshadingwillstartfromthe18thofApriltillthe24thofAugustevenif theoverheatedperiodstartslateron.Thisisthemaindisadvantageoffixedshading systems:Theydecreasetheusefulsolarradiationduringthetimeperiodthatitis actuallyneeded.

OtherparametersinfluencingthedesignoftheSDsaretheaestheticalrulesfollowed,thearchitecturallanguagecreatedandtherelationtothebuildings’functions andaesthetics.Additionally,theshadingsystemisastructuralelementthatishorizontallyandverticallyrepeated,especiallyforahighriseofficebuilding,andis changingitsformaccordingtoitsorientation.Allthesefactsinfluencetheirfinal appearanceand,asaconsequence,areextremelyimportantforthefinalaesthetics ofthebuilding.

Louversystemsarethemostwidespreadshadingsystems.Theycanbeplaced horizontallyorvertically,inclinedornot,accordingtotheorientationandatthesame time,theycreateanadditionalfilterforatransparentfaçade.Theycanbeusedto shadeglazingfacadesorcanshadeasemi-openspace,veranda.Duetotheirdouble function,thesetypesofshadingsystemsareamongthemostfavoriteforarchitects. Sometimes,architectsfollowthemostaestheticallyacceptablesolutionforpotential shading,thussacrificingpartoftheenergysavings.

Allshadingsystemscanbeevaluatedaccordingtothreefactors:

• Theenergyconsumptionforthermalcomfortoftheinteriortheyshade

• Theenergyconsumptionfortheamountofelectriclightneededintotheinterior inorderthatvisualcomfortisachieved,and

• TheenergyproductionthatintegratedPVprovide.

1.2MethodologicalProposal

Thebookoutlineisbasedonamethodologicalproposalthatcanbeintroduced inordertoevaluateshadingsystemswithintegratedPV.Threearethemainareas ofinterestwhenevaluatingshadingsystems.Thefirstareaconcernstheperformance ofSDsinrelationtothermalcomfortandthesecondareatheirperformanceaccording tovisualcomfort.

Thethirdareaofinterestconcentratestheirmaximumpotentialas“shadingmachines”andconcernstheperformanceofshadingsystemswithintegratedPV,according totheirenergyproductioninrelationtotheenergyneedsoftheinterior(Fig. 1.1).In ordertoconfrontthemaindisadvantagesoffixedSDs,inthischapter,theSDsproposedareconsideredatthesametimeasenergyreducersandelectricityproducers. Thequestionarisingiswhethertheycanreachzeroenergyimpact.Thismeansthat thereductionofdaylightandtheincreaseofheatingloadscanbecoveredbythe electricityproducedbytheintegratedPV.

ThebasicconstraintofPVintegratedsystemsisbasedonthefactthatPVmodules dofollowspecificgeometricalrules.OneofthemisthethicknessoftheopaquePV panel(3cm),anotheristhemaximumnumberofPVpanelsconnectedinseries.

1.3BookOutline

Theskeletonofthebookcanberoughlydescribedasfollowing: Thefirstchapterdealswiththeintroductiontothebasicprobleminquestion concerningshadingsystemswithintegratedPV.

ThesecondchapterpresentsthebasicsofShadingDesign,theevolutionofshading throughtimeandthemethodsofevaluatingappropriateshadingsystems,according tosimplegeometricalrules.

BasicsofShadingDesign,theevolutionofshadingthroughtimeandthemethods ofevaluatingappropriateshadingsystemsaccordingtosimplegeometricalrules (rulesofthumb)

2.1Introduction

Shadingsystemsplayamajorroleinbuildings’aestheticsandenergyperformance. Forthisreason,theyarethefocusofinterestforvariousarchitectsfromtheirroleas designersandresearchers.Shadingsystemshaveprovedtobeastrongelementof architecturalexpression.Theyaremostlypositionedontheoutsideofthebuilding andgreatlydefineitsappearance.Theyconstitutean“outerskin”whichdetermines, besidesaesthetics,itsinteriorenvironmentalconditions,accordingtotechnical specifications.

“Thetransitionfrommasonrywalltoskeletonbuildingscreatednewpossibilities ofexpressionindesignelevations”[1].Overthelastfewdecades,thetransparent fractionofthebuildings’envelopehasincreased.Thustheneedforshadinghas increasedandshadingsystemshavebecomemuchmoreimportantforthebuilding’s finalaesthetics.

Itiscrucialatthispointtoclarifythebasicfunctionsofshadingsystemsandtheir roletothebuilding’senergybalanceandinteriorcomfortconditions.Therearetwo mainrequirementsforaneffectiveSolarShading:a.tosignificantlyreducesolar gainsduringthecoolingperiodwhileincreasingsolargainsduringheatingseason andb.toensurethatthereissufficientandcomfortabledaylightintheinteriorofthe building.

MorespecificallythebasicfunctionsofshadingsystemsaccordingtoBakerand Steemers[2]arethefollowing:

• Tominimizetotalsolarenergyenteringtheroomandreducetheaverage temperatures.

• Topreventsunlightfromfallingdirectlyuponoccupants(whichwouldresultin anincreaseoftemperaturebetween3and7°C).

• Toreducetheilluminanceofinteriorsurfaceswhicharepotentialglaresources fortheoccupants.

• Totakeoffsightbrightlylitoutsidesurfaces,orthesunitself.

Itiscrucial,rightfromthebeginning,toclarifysomebasicsconcerningsunlight; afundamentalprincipleconcerningsunlightisthatitconsistsoftwoinseparable measures:heatandlight[2].Sunlightcanalsobeviewedaselectromagneticradiation, invisibleandinvisibleform(infraredandultravioletbandrespectively)(Fig. 2.1). Whenthatradiation(visibleorinvisible)heatsasurface,itisthenabsorbedby it,andconvertedintoheat(Fig. 2.2).Whenstudyinglightingweareinterestedin thevisiblepartoftheelectromagneticradiationofsunlight;however,thispartof electromagneticradiationcarriesonlyhalfoftheenergythatpotentiallycanbecome heat(op.cit).

Basedonthefactsabove,weunderstandhowcrucialtransparentpartsofthe façadeareintermsofheatgainsandlosses.Theunprotectedglazingfacades,for example,areinfluencingheatgainsinthesummerinawaythatisnotvisibletothe humaneye.Wecanseethedaylightthatisenteringthewindowbutwecanonlyfeel thewholeradiation.

Shadingsystemsandtheirroleasprotectivesunmachinesinfluenceheatgains, accordingtotheirgeometricalconfigurationandtheirmaterial.Thatisthereasonwhy whenintegratedPVareintroducedtothesystemare-evaluationofitsperformance isneeded,accordingtotheenergyneededforheating,coolingandlightingthe officeunittheshadedeliversacceptablethermalandvisualcomfort.Insummary,the mainquestionishowtheenergybalancecanbeachievedonfixedshadingsystems especiallyintheMediterraneanclimate.Thefirststepisconcentratedontheenergy needsforheatingandcoolingtheshadedspace,alongwiththeenergyneedsto efficientlylightthespace.Additionally,itwillbeassumedthattheshadingdevices areenergyproducingsystemsduetotheirintegratedPVpanels.Thebasicaimis thebalanceoftheenergyneedsandtheenergyproducedofshadingsystemswith integratedPV,inordertoconcludebasicgeometricalconfigurationsthatcanbeless energyconsumingappropriateforthespecificarchitecturalconfiguration.

2.2EvolutionofSolarShadingThroughTime

TheissueofSolarRadiationinrelationtoabuilding’senergyperformancehasbeen analysedextensivelysinceantiquity.AccordingtoSocrates,duetothemovementof thesun,southernorientedspacescanachieveabalancebetweencoolingandheating

loads.In“Memorabilia”,XenophonquotedSocrates’sphrase:“Inhouseswitha southernaspect,thesun’srayspenetrateintotheporticosinwinter,butinsummer thepathofthesunisrightoverourheadsandabovetheroofs,sothatthereisshade. If,then,thisisthebestarrangement,weshouldbuildthesouthernsideloftier,toget thewintersun,andthenorthernsidelower,tokeepoutthecoldwinds…presumably simultaneouslythepleasantestandmostbeautifularrangement”.

Manylargeshadingsystemshavethedualpurposeofshadingtheinteriorspace andcreatinganoutdoorshadedspace.Theporticoandthecolonnadesoftheancient GreekandRomanbuildingscanobtainshadingofthefacadeaswellasproviding shadedoutsidespaces.Neoclassicarchitecture,besidesitssymbolicandaesthetic dimensions,wasanarchitecturethatcouldbesuccessfullyadaptedtohotandhumid

climates.Theneedforbigwindowsthatallowventilationiscrucialforthereduction oftheinnerhumiditybutatthesametimebigshadingsystemswereneededforsun protectionduringthesummerperiods(Fig. 2.3).

Ifonewouldlookatshadingsystemsallaroundtheworld,hewouldfindalmost thesamesystemsinsimilarclimates.TheGreekporticomentionedaboveissimilar totheporch,veranda(foundinIndia),balcony,loggia(inItaly),gallery,arcade, colonnade,andengawa(inJapan)[3].

Manyarchitectsunderstoodtheimportanceofshadingbyobservingvernacular architectureintheareasthattheyweregoingtobuild.FrankLloydWrightused

shadingstrategiesinmostofhisbuildings.InRobbieHouse,heusedlargeareasof glazingtomaximizedaylightandventilationforthehotandhumidChicagosummers. Atthesametime,heusedverylongcantileveredoverhangstoshadetheglazingso astocreatestronghorizontallinesthatalsoreflectthenatureoftheregion(Fig. 2.4) (op.cit.).

LeCorbusierisverymuchrelatedwiththeaestheticsbasedonsolarshading.In hismulti-storeybuildingofCiteDeRefuge,inParis,onecantracehisfirstattempt todesigntheBrise-SoleilSystem.Thebuildingwasdesignedwithlargeglazedareas facingsouthwithoutanyshading,toallowplentyofsunlightinandtowarmandcheer theresidents.Inwinterthesystemperformedwellbutinthesummeritprovedtobe extremelyhot.Inordertosolvethisproblem,LeCorbusierinventedtheBrise-Soleil (sun—breaker)orEggcratesystem(Fig. 2.5).Hence,LeCorbusierdemonstratedthe dualnatureofthesun,ourfriendinthewinterandourfoeinthesummerandhe usedthisasanaestheticopportunityofthefinalfacade(op.cit.).

BoththegeometricalcharacteristicsoftheSD,aswellasgeometry’srelationto theirperformancehavebeenextensivelydevelopedbyOlgyaysince[1].Heclaims thatthearchitecturalappearanceofthesuncontrolsystemsisaresultofseveralother developments.Itistheresultoftherelationbetweentheglasspane,thewalland theinternalfunction.Theirroleofcontrollingenvironmentalconditionsisextremely importantifoneconsidersthefactthatashadedglasstransmitsonlyaboutone-third (avaluethatdependsonlatitude,localityandorientation)oftheheatcomparedto theheattransmittedbyanunshadedwindowsurface.

2.3TypesofShadingSystems

Windowshaveaseriousimpactontheindoortemperature.Heatgainviatransparent elementsisfargreaterthanviamassivewallsystems,andthisdifferencedependson theinsulatingpropertiesofthemasssystems.AccordingtoOlgyayandOlgyay[1, p.72],shadingdevicesreducethesunlightloadstoonefifthoftheloadthatwould havebeengainedbyanunshadedwindow(Fig. 2.6).

Whenshadingsystemsarecombinedwithareasofglazing,theinteriorthermal gainscanbemodified.Onewayofcontrollingsolargainsistheuseofdifferent typesofglazing,otherthanthesingleglazing(doubleglazing,varioustypesof heatinterruptingglazing,darkeningglass).Anotherwaytoachievethisisbyusing solarshadingsystems,appropriateforthespecificorientationandlatitude(Fig. 2.7). Shadingsystemscanbeappliedexternally,internallyorinsidethedoubleglazing.

Theycanbefixed,adjustableorretractableandtheyareavailableinavarietyof architecturalshapesandgeometricalconfigurations.

InternalshadingdevicesincludeVenetianblinds,rollerblindsandcurtains.They areretractable,meaningtheycanbelifted,rolledormovedparalleltothewindow.In otheroccasions,onlytheirinclinationisadjustable.Externalshadingdevicesinclude shutters,awnings,overhangsandlouvers(horizontal,verticaloracombinationof both,calledEggcrate)(Fig. 2.8).Interpaneshadingsystemsareplacedbetweenthe twopanesthatconstitutethedoubleglazingsystem;theycanbeVenetianblinds, rollershadesorpleatedpaper(Fig. 2.9).Theyareadjustableandretractablefromthe interior.

Traditionallythefunctionofshadingdevicescanbesummarizedinthefollowing: controlofheatgainsduringtheoverheatedperiod,theallowanceofheatgainsduring theunderheatedperiod,controlofdaylightlevelsandglare,thecontrolofoutside views,andventilation.Theimportanceofeachoneofthesefactorsvariesaccording toclimaticconditionsandaccordingtothefunctionofthebuilding.Forahouse,for example,controlofsolarheatgainsisveryimportantduringsummerandwinterbut foranofficebuildingandaclassroombothheatgains,daylightinglevelsandcomfort areimportant[5,pp.213–214].

Duetothisfact,wewillexaminetherelationofthetypesofshadingsystemsto boththermalandvisualcomfort.Lateron,inthebook,wewillintroducethesixth functionthatshadingsystemscanintroduce:theproductionofenergy(theremaining functionsarereferredtoabove).

2.4FundamentalDesignMethodsandFactors

Basicgeometricalruleshavebeeninventedsinceancienttimes.First,theRoman architectVitruvius(Vitruvii,27–23B.C.)inthesixthbookofhistreatise“DeArchitectura”,describesabasicgeometricalmethodtoensurethatthereissufficientdaylightinsidethebuilding:“onthesidethatislitwedrawastraightlinefromtheedge ofthewallthatseemstoobstructit,tothespacethathastobelit.Thatspacewill bewelllit,iflookingabovethatstraightlineweareabletoseethesky”.Ingeneral,headvisedtoplaceopeningsinareaswheretheskyvaultcanbeseenwithout obstructions.

OlgyayandOlgyay[1]proposeabasicmethodforthedesignofshadingsystems. Theirmethodconsistsofthefollowingsteps:Definingtheperiodwhenshadingis neededandestimatingtheoverheatedandunderheatedperiodoftheyear.Thenext stepistodeterminethepositionsofthesunforthetimewhenshadingisneeded, accordingtothelatitudeoftheareausingthe“sunpathdiagram”.Thethirdstepis todeterminethetypeandthepositionofanSDwhichwillinterferebetweenthesun andthepointofobservationduringtheoverheatedperiod.Thisincludesthedesign ofthe“shadingmask”oftheSDandtheprojectionofthat“mask”tothe“sunpath diagram”.Adecisionneedstobemaderegardingthedesiredshading(either100or 50%).Thispartoftheprocesscanalsobereversed.Knowingtherequired“shading mask”onecandeterminethemostsuitableshadingdeviceforit.The“mask”defines thetypeandtheangleoftheSD,aswellasitsproportions.Varioustechnicallycorrect possibilitiescanbeproposedbutinarchitecture,thereisalwaysa“linewherethe technicalmethodendsandcreativeexpressiontakesover ”(OlgyayandOlgyay[1] (Fig. 2.8).

AsimilarmethodtodesignanSDisproposedbyGivoni[5,p.218].Heintroduced agraphicalmethodtodepictthepatchproducedonthefloorbythesunlightentering ashadedwindow.Themethodisbasedontheuseofsolarcharts,theshadowangle protractorsappropriatefortheexaminedlatitudeandthedesignofthecorresponding solaraltitudeandazimuthangle,inplanandsectionoftheexaminedopening—SD (Fig. 2.10).

Shaviv[6]andRadford[7]introducedamethodfordesigningfixedexternalSDs usingnomograms.Themethodallowsvariationsinthegeometryofthesunshades. TheyfollowthestepsproposedbyOlgyaywiththeuseofacomputerthatgeneratesa “family”ofsolutionsasanenvelopewhichsatisfiestheprescribedshadingdemands. Thenanomogramisderivedofallpossiblesolutions.Thefinalstepistogenerate differentformsofsunshadesaccordingtomaterials,thebuilding’sfunctionalityand itsaesthetics(Fig. 2.11).

ThegeometricalrulesthatarefollowedwhendesigninganSDhavebeenwell presentedintheliterature.Thesearerelatedtotheclimateandtothetypeofbuilding intermsofitsactivity,meaningwhetherthemainactivitieshappeninternallyor externally.Accordingtothisplan,thearticulationoftheshadingperiodisdecided, hencethegeometricalrulesfortherequiredSDs[3].

Sincethebeginningofthe80s,anumberofcomputerprogramshavebeendevelopedtodetermineaccuratelytheoptimalshapeofexteriorshadingdevices—suchas awnings,overhangsandeggcratedsystems;theseapplicationstakeintoaccountthe sunlightunderclearskyconditions.Bouchlaghem[8]andKenseketal.[9]developedacomputerapplicationcalledSHADINGMASK,Etzion[10]andWagar[11] developedanotheronecalledSUNPLOT;boththeseprogramscontributedtothe productionofmodelswhicharemainlyconcernedwiththegeometryofshading devicesanddonotcontainenergysimulationalgorithms[12,p.99].

Thesemethodscanbeusedasafirststeptowardsthedevelopmentofanenergy calculationprogram.Additionally,theyareveryhelpfulforthedesignersattheearly designstagebecausetheyhelpvisualizebasicgeometricalconfigurationsofshading devicesthatcorrespondtotheshadingperiodandorientationexamined.

Choosingtherightgeometryfortheshadingdeviceisabasicsteptooptimise theefficiencyoftheproposedsystem.Varioustypesofgeometricalconfigurations ofshadingsystemscanassuretheavoidanceofdirectsolarradiation,forthesame periodoftheyear.Thenextstepistodeterminetheoptimumgeometryoftheshading systemintermsofthermal,solartransmittanceanddaylightingperformance.These dependonseveralfactorsthatwearegoingtopresentinthenextfewparagraphs.

Thebalancebetweenthermalandsunlighttransmittanceisthemaingoalofshading.Thisisnoteasilyachievedduetodifferentandcomplicatedfactorsuponwhich thistransmittancedepends.Forexample,Dubois[13]arguedthat“itisnotnecessaryforexteriorshadestoprovide100%shadingforsteepanglesofincidence.Most importantistobeabletoprovideshadingwhenthesunisinfrontofthewindow”. Shearguesthatinasmallerawningoronewithoutcoveredsidesthesolarradiation leakingonthesideoftheawning(atsteepanglesofincidence)wasinsignificant withrespecttoannualcoolingloads.Additionally,theadvantageofsmallerawnings isthatlightenteringfromthesidesoftheawningcanprovidebeneficialdiffusedaylighting.ThebalanceofthermalgainsanddaylightqualitythatanSDcanachieve ismainlythesubjectofthedetaileddesignstage.

Wehavetopointoutatthisstagethatsolarradiationconsistsofthreeparts: direct,diffuseandreflectedradiation(Fig. 2.12).Inordertoincorporatethecontrol ofallthesecomponentsofsolarradiationmorecomplicatedcomputerapplications aredeveloped.Theyincorporatethecomplicatedmovementofsolarradiationand thedependenceofsolarabsorptioninrelationtotheangleofincidence.Details concerningthesetwobasicparametersofsolarradiationwillbedevelopedinthe nextchapter.

Furtheron,inthischapter,wedescribethelatestdevelopedmethodsofassessing shadingsystems,includedininternationalandEuropeanstandards.Atthemoment, threemainevaluationmethodshavebeenstandardized:thesearetheISOInternationalStandards15099(ThermalPerformanceofwindows,doorsandshading devices,DetailedCalculations,2003)manual,theEN14500(BlindsandshuttersThermalandvisualcomfort—Testandcalculationmethods,2008)and14501(Blinds andshutters—Thermalandvisualcomfort—Performancecharacteristicsandclassification,2005).Thesemanualsintroducemeasurementsetupandproceduresto

evaluatethermal,opticalproperties,performancecharacteristicsandclassifications oftheshadingdevices.Inthesemanuals,onlyafewtypesofshadingsystemsare referenced.

IntheInternationalStandards 15099 (ThermalPerformanceofwindows,doors andshadingdevices,DetailedCalculations,2003)manual,theopticalpropertiesof theSDsaredefinedaccordingtodiffusereflectionanddirecttransmission.Additionally,thethermalpropertiesaredefined,accordingtoconvectionandradiation ofheatbetweenglazingandSD,totheventilationabilityandtheSD“openness”. Thethermalpropertiesoftheglazingandtherelationoftheframingtotheglazing areexaminedseparatelyinordertocalculatetheopeningneeded.Despitethesedefinitions,thereisnowidelyrecognizedproceduretomeasureorcalculateshading opticalproperties[14].

EuropeanStandardsEN14501(Blindsandshutters—Thermalandvisual comfort—Performancecharacteristicsandclassification,2005)introduceanumber offactorsinSDdesignthatinfluencethermalandvisualcomfort.Thermalcomfort forinteriorconditionsiscategorizedaccordingtothe solarfactorandtheshading factor.Solarfactor(g) isdefinedasaratiobetweenthetotalsolarenergytransmitted intoaroomthroughawindowandtheincidentsolarenergyonthewindow. Shading factor (Fc )isdefinedasratioofthesolarfactorofthecombinedglazingandsolar protectiondevice(gtot )tothatoftheglazingalone(g).Bothsolarfactorandshading factordependontheglazingandSDs’properties.Visualcomfortdependsonopacity control,glarecontrol,nightprivacy,andvisualcontactwiththeoutside,daylight utilizationandrenderingofcolors.Inordertoquantifythesequalitycharacteristics threemainfactorsareintroduced: normaltonormallighttransmittance,diffuse partoflighttransmittanceanddiffusetohemisphericallighttransmittance

Tzempelikos[14]explainstheimportanceoftheabove-mentionedvaluesinthe evaluationofshadingsystems.Hepointsoutthatabasicdifferencebetweenashaded openingandanunshadedglazingisthatintheformer,theincidentsolarradiation maychangedirectionwhilebeingtransmittedorreflectedatthesurfaceoftheShadingDevice.Thatisthereasonwhyweneedafullmatrixoftransmission,tocalculate forwardandbackwardreflectionandtocalculatetheabsorptionofeachcomponent foreveryangleofincidence.Thereflectanceandtransmittanceoftransparentmaterialsdependsontheadditionalparameterofangleofincidenceofsun–rays.The reflectanceislowerwhensolarraysareperpendiculartotheglasssurfaceandit increaseswhentheraysbecomemoreoblique.ForUpto60°ofincidentangle,the reflectanceremainslow;above60°thereflectanceincreasessharplyandprogressivelywiththeincidentangle[5,pp.212,T12.I].Tzempelikos[14]concludesthat thepropertiesoftransmittance,reflectance(direct-to-direct,direct-to-diffuse,and diffuse-to-diffuse)andabsorption(directanddiffuse)arerequiredforeveryangleof incidence:Ingeneral,thesepropertiesdependonthewavelengthofsolarradiation thatcanbedividedinvisibleandsolar/thermalrange.WhenasolarbeamistransmittedthroughorreflectedfromtheSDitissplitintoadirectandadiffusedpartand thesepartscontinuetheirroutethroughthesystem.Thatisthereasonwhythecalculationofthediffuse-to-diffusetransmittanceandreflectanceanddirect-to-direct transmittanceandreflectanceisrequired(seeAppendix).

AccordingtoGreeklegislation[Law3661/2008,thatfollowedtheEUDirective 2002/91/EContheEnergyPerformanceofBuildingsandtheISO13790(2008)] a shadingfactor (SF)isusedtoevaluateshadingsystemsandtheireffectinthe buildingintermsofsolarradiation.Itdependsonsolarobstructionsandtheposition oftheshadingdeviceused(ifitisanoverhangoraverticalelement).Another indicatorthatistakenintoaccountinGreeklegislationisthe solarthermalgain factor(g w ):itincorporatestheinfluenceofthermalradiation;itistheaveragevalue oftheratiosofsolarradiationpassingthroughtheopeningtotheincidentradiation fallingtoitduringtheexaminedperiod.Theamountofsolarradiationabsorbedbythe framingandtransformedasthermalgaintotheinterior,isverylittleincomparisonto thattransmittedthroughtheglazingtotheinterior;thereforeitisignored.Thesolar thermalgainfactordependsonthepercentageoftheframing’ssurfacetothesurface oftheglazingwithintheopeningandontheinsulatingpropertiesoftheglazing [15,pp.1–66].

However,theabovementionedfactorsandgeometricalequationsarenotsufficient whendetailedresearchisconductedtoassesscomplexSD,likeVenetianblindsfor example.Insimulationmodels,reflected/transmittedlightisusuallynotcalculated, andsomevalueshavetobetakenfrommeasurements,sotheresultsarenotaccurate enough.Inthesecases,bothexperimentalandsimulationworkisneeded[14].

InordertothoroughlyunderstandthebasicworkingmechanismsofShadingSystems,wewillfirstdescribesolarradiationinrelationtoheattransfer (Chap. 3).Wewillthendescribetheshadingsystems’influenceondaylighting (Chap. 4)andhowthecontradictingfactorsofheatanddaylightingcanbebalanced bythegeometricalconfigurationsandthetypesofmaterialsusedtoconstructthe shadingsystems(Chap. 6).Additionally,weconsidershadingsystemsasenergy producingdevicesandwewillfurtheronanalysetheirfunctionincombinationwith theirenergyproducingcharacter(Chap. 5).

Geometricalandmaterialpropertiesoftheshadingsysteminrelationtothermal gains

Althoughwecannotactuallydividesunlightintoheatandlight,inthischapterwe aregoingtofocusonthebasicqualityofshadingsystemswhichistoreduceheat gainsandensurethermalcomfortintheinterior.Wewillanalyzethequalityofsolar radiationandhowsunlightbehavesinrelationtothebuilding.Wewillanalyzethe methods,theparametersandtheproposedshadingsystemsaccordingtothem.

Wewillseethevarietyofthepossiblegeometricalsolutionsthatcanbeusedto specificfaçadeconfigurations,accordingtoprimarydesignandenergyparameters. Wewillfocusonbasicsimulationmethodsthatcanbeusedinbothearlyandlate designstagesofshadingdevices(SDs)topredictenergyneedsinordertoachieve comfortablethermalandvisualconditionsintheinterior.

3.1ShadinginRelationtoSolarRadiation

3.1.1Direct,DiffusedandAbsorbedSolarRadiation

Solarradiationisdividedintotwotypes:directanddiffuse.Diffuseradiationis thesumofscatteredskyradiationandreflecteddirectradiationanditisnotvery importantintermsofheatgains.AccordingtoOlgyayandOlgyay[1],thetotal incidentsolarradiationisthesumofdirectsolarradiationfallingonasurfaceand diffuseskyradiationscatteredbytheatmosphereandreflectionsfromtheground andotherobjects(Fig. 3.1).

Diffuseradiationdoesnothavedirectionalbeamingandithasdifferentintention forvariousorientations[1,p.56].
