Drawing on our consultants’ extensive knowledge gained from working across specialist recruitment areas, the data is predominantly from the salaries being offered to accountancy & finance candidates we have placed, alongside information from some of our valued clients.

We have broken down the qualified commerce & industry market from newly qualified, through to group finance directors and CFO/executives.

We have also taken a look at the biggest trends and market demands within these regions, and shared our insight into the “modern CFO�.

Demands & trends The last year has taught us that the biggest recruitment demands were found within the specialist field of financial planning and analysis (FP&A). The market suggests that this increase is being driven by businesses looking to be proactive in safeguarding against future risks in a changing economic environment. These businesses need FP&A experts who can spot trends and anomalies within their finances, provide clear information to senior managers, and help to set financial strategy going forward.

Part-qualified and qualified salaries significantly increased due to these demands and we predict that this will continue

for the duration of 2020. We also forecast that the market will have an influx of finance business partner vacancies in comparison to the last two years.

Demand for finance professionals should continue to rise, despite uncertainty around Brexit. Businesses will implement projects to adapt to changing economic circumstances, develop new supply chains and consider expanding into international markets - all of which will drive hiring. However, some manufacturing and FMCG firms may see a downturn as Brexit approaches and new supply chains need to be established.
