CTeen Lounge Provides Headquarters For Teens To Connect

by 22 teenage boys and girls and featured a hypnotist, lounge reveal, game, raffles and fun. Jewish teens in grades nine through 12, along with some eighth graders, meet there on Thursdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. for a planned activity, relax and even do homework. At the new CTeen Lounge, teens have “a place to base their work, they can successfully brainstorm ideas, channel their strengths, and motivate each other in a conducive, safe environment, together,” explains Shlomit Koval, CTeen director and youth director for the Chabad in Randolph. “As a family of teens, they now have the space, mindset, and drive
to make connections with the people around them, change the world into a brighter and happier place.” The idea for the CTeen Lounge came from the international organization of the Chabad Teen Network. As part of an international youth group, CTeens across the globe have opened up their own CTeen Lounges, explains Koval, so organizers decided to establish a local lounge. They worked on the idea this past summer, cleaned out the basement of the Chabad and started to fundraise by sending letters to parents in the community asking for contributions. “We raised $4,000,” says Koval, and continued on page 8
