A Fantastic First 2 Weeks!

What a wonderful first 2 weeks at both the Main Campus and Etobicoke Campus! The schools have been filled with smiles, positive energy, and a genuine sense of excitement, as the students embrace the start of a new year We’ve seen new friendships bloom and established ones grow even stronger; creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere across the school This year, our theme is Kindness, and already we’ve had countless moments of kindness, support, and a shared commitment to ensuring everyone feels part of our community

The Importance of Practicing Kindness at school and at home

Do you have Auction or Wine Donations for the Cocktail Party on Oct. 4 ? If so, drop them by the school before September 26 or email cgrogan@newtonsgrovescho ol.com th th

At Newton’s Grove School, kindness is at the heart of who we are. That’s why our theme for 2025/2026 is all about practicing kindness, with our friends, teachers, families, and ourselves. Even the smallest acts of kindness can make someone’s day brighter and help our community feel warm and welcoming. Whether it’s sharing a smile, lending a hand, or including someone new, kindness has the power to make our school an even better place to learn and grow together. This year let’s challenge ourselves to spread kindness everywhere we go! As such, we ask that you spend time with your child(ren) each day to talk about kindness, whether it is kindness at school or at home. Spreading kindness is a powerful practice that will have a profound impact on both the mental and emotional well-being of your child(ren).

What’s App Group Chats

At Newton’s Grove, we recognize the importance of community and building strong relationships We are aware that creating WhatsApp groups is one way that parents can develop a community within their grade group

We encourage you to use WhatsApp Groups to promote a positive and supportive community The group chats should be intended for school-related announcements, updates, and upcoming events, such as Fashion Fridays or special assemblies

Personal conversations or off topic discussions should be taken off-line and we ask that the chat groups avoid sharing sensitive and personal information about the students or faculty and staff Remember that if you have a concern about your child, please address these privately with the school first rather than discussing them within the chat group By coming to the school directly, we know this will avoid misinformation and confusion We must remember that words are powerful Words can insinuate, suggest, and plant seeds of doubt in the minds of even the most well-meaning of people Sometimes all it takes is one parent insinuating that perhaps the new grade teacher doesn’t know what they are doing, or perhaps that a child in the class is worth avoiding, or that perhaps Ms X could be better in their communication, and before long, those words have burrowed their way, consciously or unconsciously – into the minds of other parents too

We thank you for your support in ensuring positive and direct communication

NEW Format: Parent Volunteer Program

Huge thanks to the parents who volunteered to be Parent Ambassadors last year It was a great group of parents who helped promote events, encouraged parents to attend events, and most importantly, they helped promote a positive and supportive community This year, we are doing something slightly different By the end of September, a form will be distributed listing all the events that we require parent support Please sign up for what you are able to help us out with this year

Cheri Grogan

I know I speak on behalf of the Faculty and Staff, when I say that as I look ahead to the exciting year ahead, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity for our community to come together once again after the summer break. The energy at both the Main Campus and Etobicoke Campus over the last two weeks has been inspiring and it’s clear that we are ready for all the growth, learning, and connection that this year will bring. I am grateful for our amazing community of students, faculty/staff, and families; and for their shared commitment to making this a memorable and fulfilling year

All the best to the Grade 9 Class, who are travelling to Pinecrest for their outdoor education experience at Camp Pinecrest!

Here's to a year filled with joy, gratitude and kindness! See you at the Cocktail party on October 4 . th
