All-candidates face off in Lincoln Listen to complete debate audio at newsnowniagara.ca Over 200 people crowded into the Lincoln Centre in Beamsville for the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce’s all-candidates meeting on Tuesday night. All five candidates vying to be Niagara West Riding’s Member of Parliament were on hand. Green Party candidate Sid Frere got the ball rolling telling those on hand
his party would, among other things, reduce student debt, put small business first with tax breaks, develop a seniors strategy and repeal Bill C-51. Phil Rose, Liberal Party candidate, compared the campaign to the Toronto Blue Jays playoff run. Saying the Blue Jays, like the federal government, had become “stagnant and disinterested”,
he said the owners invested and it is now “paying off”. He said voters can do the same. “The Liberal Party wants to invest in our teams, by which I mean our municipalities.” The New Democratic Party’s Nameer Rahman told the crowd, “This is not your grandfather’s NDP. Jobs, at the end
of the day, create stable families. Stable families build dynamic communities and dynamic communities are the bedrock of a great nation.” Conservative Party incumbent Dean Allison said the track record of his government, as well as his own locally, have set a course for a solid future.
