Refurbishment NEWSLETTER 1 April 2014

Make your view count North Kesteven District Council will later this year embark on a £2.5m leisure investment in North Hykeham.

Consultation on the redesign of North Kesteven Sports Centre will be welcomed from users and the wider public at a consultation event being held at North Kesteven Sports Centre, Moor Lane, North Hykeham.

As part of its £2.5m refurbishment plan for the North Hykeham facility,

North Kesteven District Council is consulting widely to ensure that a broad range of views and opinions is expressed and considered.

As part of the consultation there will be an opportunity to view plans and provide your views on how you’d like the facility to develop within its current footprint, and information will be provided on the proposed timescales for the project.

Your time and opinions will be greatly valued.

Ground Floor

The project is likely to last a year.

Due to the school’s essential curriculum requirement, a complete closure of the facility for the refurbishment is not possible, and the project will be phased with an intention of starting in January 2015.

First Floor

The draft proposals are: Phase 1 Replacement of the synthetic pitch, in the next few months to provide a modern 3G pitch as an immediate improvement.

Phase 2 Starting in January 2015, with a new fire escape and construction of two new large studios and female dry change on the first floor in place of the bar, committee room, offices and toilets.

Phase 3 Removal of climbing wall.

Construct mezzanine floor through all squash courts to produce further studio space on the ground floor and a large fitness gym on the first floor, male dry change on the first floor with office below and a dedicated spinning studio.

Move fitness gym to new facility.

Phase 4 The most complex phase, requiring closure of the swimming pool for approximately 20 weeks.

Construction of changing village, unisex changing room, new reception with possible library, info links, cafĂŠ/ theatre bar.
