The perfect movie to watch this Halloween! We all grew up with the amazing TV series and collectable dolls behind our favorite franchise 'Monster High'. Well we are definitely in luck! Recently, New Scene was able to have an exclusive chat with the cast of the upcoming film 'Monster High: The Movie'. A star studded cast, the Nickelodeon remake stars several of our favorite rising stars Nayah Damasen ('Black-ish') and Ceci Balagot ('Girl Meets World'). This live action will follow Clawdeen through her experience with the other ghostly peers at Monster High. And don't worry; this isn't the only MH project coming out this year! An equally star studded animated series is set to also premiere this fall on Nickelodeon. Catch 'Monster High: The Movie' on Paramount + on October 6th! Thank you to Nickelodeon for working with us!

F: “When I was 8, I competed in a competition where my manager, Mattie from mattie management, first discovered me. She knew that I wanted to be like the stars on t.v. so she told me I should try acting. She sent me my first audition and I instantly fell in love and never stopped!”
F: “When I play Lucy Hallman. Lucy is a popular, mean girl, cheerleader who has a major crush on her best friend’s boyfriend. She is very determined and will do whatever it takes to get what she wants.”
Q: What has been your favorite acting experience so far, and why?
F: “We are both very into fashion! Lucy wears so many outfits that I absolutely adore. We are also both very determined people.”

F: “13: The Musical has been my favorite acting experience so far because of all the amazing memories made on set. All of us kids in the cast have gotten so close since we started working together and everyone is just so talented. Plus a cast full of kids means an insane amount of bloopers ahaha!”
Q: Do you think you have anything in common with your character?
F: “Working on ‘Opportunity’ felt like a dream. It was so cool getting to work with cheerleaders and a marching band at 6 in the morning lol! I also loved working on ‘Bloodmaster.’ Lucy and Evan go back and forth in the song and it was so much fun to film. We worked through so many different versions of the song and I absolutely love the way it turned out.”
Q: Do you have a favorite on-set experience from the set?
F: “You can follow me on instagram, facebook, tiktok, and youtube @frankiemcnellis and twitter @mcnellisfrankie!”
F: “I have so many fun memories from working on 13. We are a very close cast! I loved filming the first day of school scene. There is a scene right before the song ‘I’ve Been Waiting’ starts where Brett and Kendra say hello to each other. Lucy comes up to them and awkwardly joins the conversation. During one of the takes my voice cracked. Fun fact! My voice crack was not on purpose! Everyone thought that the take was so funny that they decided to keep it in the movie.”
Q: Do ‘13: The Musical’ is packed with amazing musical numbers. Do you have a personal favorite?
Q: What message would you want to give to your fans?
F: “A message I want to give to my fans is to never give up!! For those kids out there following their dreams, if you keep working hard and staying motivated, it will happen.” Q: Where can we follow your amazing journey?

Tell us about your amazing debut album ‘PXNK’?
N: “I’ve grown significantly since my debut. I feel like I’m more confident as an artist now, the sounds I explore have shifted dramatically. It’s been a huge journey and I feel like I’ve lost and found myself many times over the years." What would you say is your biggest music career goal and why?
N: “I I had been DJing under various names for a few years and decided I needed to come up with something that I would stick with. My best friend and I spent a day brainstorming potential names, making sure no one else was performing under them already (surprisingly difficult). I think we had a shortlist of letters that I liked and we formed Nyxen out of that."
If you had to choose between all 11 tracks, which song on the album is your favorite and why?
N: "The idea to write an album sparked a few years ago, I had been tinkering around with sounds on my Prophet synth that felt like they were from a Cyberpunk soundtrack and I wanted to explore that idea and create a world for those songs to live in I wrote the word Cyberpunk on a whiteboard followed by Radio Silence, Fantasies, Synthetic, Tunnels and a few others My way of sparking that imagery for the world I was picturing. I ended up writing the music to the name, pulling inspiration from the words and creating a world to match."
How did you come up with your stage name ‘Nyxen’?
N: “It’s so hard to choose a favorite song, at a point in time they’ve all been my favorites. At the moment I’d say Synthetic is my favorite because I love playing it live and it’s still hidden away waiting to be released along with the album."
SPOTLIGHT: NYXEN

3) The Shrine / An Argument by Fleet Foxes
"I found this song by accident when my brother was playing Fleet Foxes’ helplessness blues album. This song instantly gave me a sense of warmth and familiarity. Throughout all 8 minutes of its musical detours, it really just takes me on an emotional roller coaster. I love listening to this song while staring up at the stars."- Sofie Dossi
"This song makes me feel reminiscent about a time that never existed. For me, it paints my own beautiful fantasy world in my head where I’m floating on clouds or living in a castle over a hill. And of course, the orchestral and Disney-like production and writing on this song is absolutely beautiful."- Sofie Dossi
