SHARE UPDATE
As autumn starts and winter approaches, SHARE’s thoughts turn to how best we can continue to help refugees who are still held in various camps across Europe. Thanks to some very successful appeals for specific items, we have recently sent a van load full of tents, thermal suits, blankets, clothing and toiletries to Calais, via MerseyAid. We have also delivered more essential items to CARE UK Charity Refugee Aid NW, where they have helped to fill yet another container on its way to Syria Our current appeal is to provide desperately needed aid to House of Humanity in Lesvos. Our first van load will have been sent by the time you read this update, but the situation here is very bad – children wear nappies made from plastic bags and families sleep outside with little cover and no blankets. More supplies are urgently needed, as follows: ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ●
Baby wipes (HUGE need) Baby food pouches Nappies, nappy sacks & women’s hygiene products Children’s potties and buckets (for women to use at night!) Warm trousers & leggings – children & babies Warm jumpers & coats – children & babies Warm hats & gloves – children & babies Pushchairs Winter shoes & socks – children & adults Winter clothing – men & women New underwear – women (black only), men & children (any colour) Tents, sleeping bags, blankets & groundsheets (to help waterproof the tents!) Toiletries Hot water bottles & outdoor heaters (electric or gas)
