I am really enjoying my start to Newcomb SC the kids are great and the staff have been very helpful in helping me settle in. I have been in the teaching game in one way or another for 30 years, as a classroom teacher, working at Deakin University with pre-service teachers and in leadership in schools. I have taught many subjects over the years, including History, Health, PE and Literature, and I am loving taking Year 12 English this year. My wife and I have four adult children, and I am enjoying being a first time grandfather in the past two months. My hobbies are reading, running and history.

Nobody’s Fool Program On Friday the 16th of February, Nobody’s Fool Theatre performed for the Youth Matters Forum at the Geelong Convention Centre. We performed selected scenes from several different plays, which addressed the issue of youth homelessness and the importance of supporting disadvantaged youth. Considering the short timeline for rehearsal, the performance was successful and a lot of fun. A big thanks to everyone who made the performance run smoothly, particularly Somebody’s Daughter Theatre for all the time and energy they put in. Luke Wallace and Kiara Smith

I write to express my thanks once again for your support of last Friday’s Youth Matters Forum. We are very appreciative of the time that you and the Nobody’s Fool Theatre performers gave to support this event. The performance was both powerful and emotional and was very important to the context of the day and the outcomes we are seeking, specifically the co-design and creation of a more responsive and integrated service system for the vulnerable young people in our community. I’m sure that you are equally impressed by your amazing group and with those performing highlighting the wisdom, knowledge and insight that young people can bring to the co-design process. Sandy Morrison, Chief Executive Officer - BCYF

Tiny House Excursion The Precal and year 11 and 12 students went to The New Jones Display in Pakington St. They learned about sustainable living and looked at the Tiny House and Electric car on display.

P-TECH is off and running for 2018 with our new P-TECH Partner - the City of Greater Geelong (COGG). First year P-TECH student Jeremie is studying a Certificate III in ICT and is fortunate to have the "IT Co-ordinator Digital, Information & Technology" as his industry mentor. Jeremie will visit his mentor every alternate Monday afternoon where he will work on real live work projects and gain valuable core skills for his own future employment. During Jeremie's first mentoring session he was lucky enough to visit the Deakin University Data Centre and see first hand how extensive the network is.
