From our conveniently located sites throughout the South West we offer a network of both general and specialist waste management; with national cover through a network of accredited partners. Recycling and re-use of metals has been a core aspect of our services over the last 50 years. However, the re-use and recycling of waste materials has now become the norm and everyone has to take responsibility for minimising waste and explore ways in which it can be turned into a valuable resource. SWM is justifiably proud of its contribution to sustainable, environmentally friendly waste solutions.

SWM is committed to recycling waste for all our futures. Re-use, repair and recycling is no longer an option, but a necessity.

Vehicle Recycling and Parts SWM own Kirton Recycling which are one of the largest vehicle recyclers in the South West. New stock arrives daily across all of our depots and offers a cost effective alternative to the purchase of new parts whilst being sustainable and reducing the impact on the environment. We have a broad customer base ranging from individuals and sole traders to larger organizations, all of whom benefit from our expert knowledge, vast experience and customer service. We offer a local delivery service and next day national delivery on thousands of quality new and used car, van, commercial and 4x4 parts. We work with national insurance companies offering a collection and storage facility before recycling the vehicles, and can offer an extensive range of salvage cars for re-sale.

With over 35 years of experience we are experts in turning car parts into ‘Green’ parts.

Vehicle recycling is completed in-house by our own trained staff and provides secure knowledge that any vehicles that are not repairable do not reappear on the road. We comply with all relevant legislative regulation and are members of several trade associations including the Motor Vehicle Dismantlers’ Association.

ATF Authorised Treatment Facilities The End of Life Vehicle Regulations (2003) state that any vehicle reaching the end of it’s life must be taken to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) to be de-polluted before it can be scrapped. Tougher de-pollution and recovery targets are being imposed and by 2015 legislation will be in place to ensure that 95% of End of Life Vehicles are recovered. SWM have numerous ATF sites conveniently placed throughout the South West where we offer a professional service for the disposal of end of life vehicles. We also offer a collection service for abandoned and untaxed cars and work closely with the Local Authorities delivering this service. Once collected the vehicles are placed in secure storage for statutory periods, before they then enter the de-pollution and recycling process.

Every vehicle’s details are maintained on a database that records and monitors all information relating to the collection of abandoned vehicles, which provides automatic updates to the key stakeholders. With our network of approved ATF sites we are ideally placed to provide Local Authorities, businesses or individuals with a solution for end of life vehicles, including a growing number of abandoned cars, vans and other vehicles which are increasingly seen as an environmental hazard.

Every year End of Life Vehicles generate between 8 and 9 million tonnes of waste in the European Community and this level of waste must be handled correctly.
