The Spirit of Water
Nature Connections by Minnie Kansman
I have spoken to the Elementals of Water many times in meditation. I was born in the astrology water sign of Cancer and also have Cancer as my moon and rising signs. The sign of Cancer and Element of Water are also ruled by the moon, so we have that in common too.

I feel water through my senses as I experience it in its variety of forms. It is my healer on difficult days and my energizer as I spend time in Nature connecting with lakes, streams, and waterfalls.
Most recently I have been making requests to the Water Elementals, and the Fire Elementals, for balance with the many wildfires that are raging in my home state of Colorado. They responded to my humble request by gifting us with 12 inches of heavy wet snow in the mountains slowing the 100,000 acre Cameron Fire significantly. Please note I said “humbly,” as that is the only way to petition a request of the Elementals.
Water Elementals, also known as Undines, are the embodiment of the energy of water. You could even say they hold the molecules that create the element of water together. Our bodies and cells consist of over 70% water, so we are walking around with millions of Undines in our bodies every day. When I have asked about our relationship with the Water Elementals, besides the obvious needs provided for our physical health, I received this guidance.
Water is Life for all of us, literally! And she comes to us in many forms and has so much to teach us. I love studying the research of Dr. Masaru Emoto and his book The Hidden Messages of Water. In Hidden Messages he displays physical photographic evidence that water has intelligence and holds feelings, and is influenced by and influences all it comes in contact with. By freezing individual water droplets, he shows us the startling difference between water holding the energy of spoken words of negativity verses positive energy. The negative words created broken and irregular geometric forms, the positive more symmetrical and pristine patterns. More evidence to the belief that our words and thoughts do make a difference in our outer as well as inner worlds.
Dr. Emoto also preformed many experiments with groups of people and large bodies of polluted water. After taking samples of the water, he asked the groups to visualize pristine, clean water and to repeat the following blessing. Water — I love you, I thank you, and I respect you. The before and after samples revealed an obvious shift in geometric structure after the blessings. Check out this video showcasing some of Dr. Emoto’s groundbreaking research with water.

Kanji for Feng Shui
The Feng Shui Element of Water
Water also teaches us through its movement about ebb and flow and the ability to move ahead with strength and to recede with calmness. The words Feng Shui literally mean Wind and Water and here is the kanji symbol for those words. In this kanji I see the image of a person in their home with wind flowing over it in the top symbol and water splashing in front. This shows us the auspicious feng shui position of being in a safe place where wind can easily flow over us, and with a source of water in front of us.
The name of this poem is Flow, author unknown, and it speaks eloquently about the important movement of water in our lives. Water is the element in feng shui that teaches us about our life’s path journey or Career. The color representing water, deep water, is black and the very dark navy blues. Round free form shapes and curving lines symbolize water in our environments, as well as, of course, the actual element of water. When we have strong water in our personality, we have the ability to adapt well, and to flow around rather than trying to push through obstacles in our way. We can change our minds easily and literally go with the flow.

Mountain Stream
Flow
Be as water is
Without friction
Flow around the edges of those within your path
Surround within your ever moving depths those who come to rest there.
Enfold them while never for a moment hold on.
Accept whatever distance others are moved within your flow
Be with them gently
As far as they will allow your strength to take them
And fill with your own being
The remaining space when they are left behind.
When dropping down life’s rapids
Froth and bubble if you must
Knowing that one of you now many
Will just as many times be one again.
And when you have gone as far as you can go
Quietly await your next beginning…
Water is the most essential gift Nature bestows upon us for our life and support here on Grandmother Earth. It should be treated with respect and dignity for the sacred natural resource that it is. Water Blessings are one way you can show your respect to this essential part of our lives. I thank you for being a part of my Nature Connections Community. May you find solace and deep connection with the more than human world all around us.

I will be offering Water Blessings Ceremonies at sacred sites during my Nature Travel Adventure of the Scottish Highlands in May of 2021. There are currently three remaining spots available for this trip of a lifetime. Please visit my website, www.minniekansman.com, for more details.
