Healing with Herbs
The Witch’s Cauldron by Adriane Campbell
Having balance within our aura and energetic body is essential to our own well-being. Did you know that we have flowing energy fields that pulsate around us as an illuminating light body? This energy connects and works with our human form by moving through focused coils of energy that spiral within us.

Healing our chakras is important for the energy of our illuminating light body. The chakras interact with the Earth body’s system by nourishing it with good energy and allowing the removal of unwelcomed energy. It is crucial for us to positively nurture our chakras to prevent “dis-ease” within the body.
There are plants associated with each energy spiral. These herbs can be used to open and balance the chakras and physical body. The three chakras below the heart are linked to the Earth body and the three chakras above the heart are associated with the spiritual nature. Let us feel the magic when each energetic center is opened with plant spirits and the medicine they provide.
The root chakra is referred to as the base chakra or Muladhara. This is our grounding chakra that is directly rooted to the Earth element. When we are fully grounded, we are one with the Earth’s vibration. We dance to the tune of her heart and never miss a beat.
The Muladhara is associated with karma and recycling the energy to omit toxic waste. It has the power to transmute negative energy into light before releasing it to the Earth. If this chakra is blocked, we cannot let go of what we are ready and want to release.
Since the root chakra is directly linked to the Earth, the herb that would be Muladhara opening would be an earthy element as well. I love to use Patchouli for this healing process. As a dried herb, it smells like the purest oil and instantly grounds you into the Earth. It allows us to feel the roots move through our legs and down to our feet, grounding you to the energy beat of Earth’s love. Use this herb in any way you desire to work with this chakra.
The next chakra is the sacral chakra, or Svadisthana. Svadisthana can be translated as “one’s own place.” It is associated with the water element and is usually linked with sexual energy. Svadisthana is known for joy and the spiral center of self-expression. When this chakra is fully open it engages our state of consciousness. It allows us to have healthy relationships so we can bond with another soul in a positive manner; we can embrace love and our creativity.
The sacral chakra embodies what turns us “on” sexually and links to passion and compassion. So not only is this our sexual energy, but it involves our relationships. This consists of motivators and circumstances or encounters that have caused some imbalances of this chakra.
For us to have open self-expression and to bring forth the bonds that we are desiring, we must work on healing this chakra. When this energy flows abundantly, the ability to feel both pleasure and pain are heightened, which can feel very intense. It is vital to release any fear, romantic expectations, and disappointments.
When we dive within this chakra, we can feel the positive energies. We create ideal experiences for us to bring forth a soul that matches our aura. We can bond with this soul including our own individually to a blissful state. Love encompasses us always and now we are open to fully experience it — not human love but unconditional love. There are no expectations and no conditions; simply, Love.
Rose is a beautiful plant to use for the Svadisthana. It carries a high vibration and is love. It provides compassion, love, and is so nurturing and passionate. The rose is also considered to be an aphrodisiac, so it holds the characteristics of the sacral chakra. This is a powerful source for the opening and balancing of your sacral chakra.
The solar plexus is located at the belly button and is also referred to as the Manipura. It is the inner sun of the body, so it is represented with the element of fire. It offers the power of drawing in solar energy which spins our prana and distributes our energy throughout our being.
The Manipura is highly emotional. Therefore, we tend to feel our nerves and our emotions in our stomach area. When this chakra is not completely accessible, we can have anxiety, shame, and depression. This is essentially where types of stress are stored.
As we strengthen the Manipura we will notice new doors opening to the opportunities that are in tune with where we are energetically. Here we obtain and access our wisdom from our unconscious mind. This is where the mind and body connection forms. We are naturally our own healers and this area can provide us the source to heal our being.
Fear can be a huge block that we face. This chakra is so empowering, it eliminates fear and we feel strong. Our lights burn bright and we are safe in our solar shine. We will always keep shining and your magic will grow from solar prana. It assists the other chakras as they all work together but, remember that each one is its own frequency and purpose. Working with each one is crucial to your enchanted being.
Cedarwood is a fantastic herb for the solar plexus. It is so grounding and helps to work with our emotions. It’s a calming plant and allows us to gain clarity on what we are feeling. We can then work with our feelings and flow through them to heal and unblock any area of the solar plexus so that it can move our energy freely.
I like to make an oil blend with these herbs and use it on my body or in the bath to honor and awaken these chakras. Let’s make some healing magic!

Body Healing Energy Oil
2 cups rose hip, jojoba, olive or grapeseed oil
1 cup dried roses
½ cup dried geranium
¼ cup dried patchouli
Add all the ingredients to a pot and heat on low to medium-low heat. You do not want to bring this to a boil. Low and slow. Heat for 90 minutes and strain the mixture if desired. You can also use it unstrained if you prefer. Allow to cool and pour the oil into a tightly sealed jar until you are ready to use. When ready begin your healing ritual. Focus on the lower three chakras as your bathe in or massage the oil.
Honor yourself, the plants, and the magic unfolding. beat of Earth’s love. Use this herb in any way you desire to work with this chakra.
