As a young generation, as we are ready to merge our life style to western life style so are we also prepared to continue to live life as same as their way in old age? Are we also prepared to live our life independently/isolation in old age or in nursing home when we are aged or when we have restriction on our physical mobility due to various reasons? There is no compulsion that all people should go to aged care home but some of us might land up there.

People leave their home country with ambition to achieve higher degree, better living standard, peaceful living and many more. However, all aims and ambitions do not get fulfil on one instant. Life always look forward for bigger transformation when we wish to fulfil our bigger dream. In the process of transformation, people always tend to face various positive and negative obstacles from the society. It is entirely upon an individual to choose any side of coin in transformation. Speaking about Nepalese Youth society in Australia from my perspective, I think young generations are taking pace towards positive development in short duration of time. With the presence of many Nepalese Association including NRN, Nepalese society has created a mini Nepal across Australia by organizing and addressing various major festivals and celebrating it as per tradition. The best thing we can do as migrant is to preserve and promote our culture and tradition and discourage political influence over it. Besides that, Nepalese societies are also highly influenced by western culture and celebrate many festivals and holiday seasons to fullest possible way. As, a young generation embracing every culture and tradition is good way to promote peace and harmony in society. All we need at present is a peaceful world.

But after exposer to western culture for a long time, will our children think to live independently or sending us to aged care home? Answer may be No but it might also be YES. And this all would be effect of change in definition of cultural perspective from generation to generation due to higher exposer to busy western life schedule and higher aims to achieve. This all would be the consequences of our investment of present time in western land and not looking back at past at many instant. However, going to old aged home is not a bad option because it’s a safe home for needy people. It’s a place where a people get due respect, care and dignity till death despite of not being able to do things on their own. It’s a place where people create a bond to live a high standard of living and share their joys and tears together. It’s a place where an unknown person holds your hand to solve your problem and make you feel safe. It’s a new family where everyone makes an attempt to make it a “second home” and address all behavioural and emotional complexity. So, as we tend to become physically western by acquiring permanent residency and citizenship we should now be prepared to be “mentally western”. ollowing he major earthquakes in 2015 we decided that this year it would be best to VISIT NEPAL. Like many born and breed in Kathmandu, I was naive to think that the entire kingdom of Nepal revolves around Kathmandu. Travelling beyond Kathmandu introduced me to my country I had never known. Although I have lived in Nepal for two decades I had never visited Pokhara. Yes, I know what you are thinking! So of course, when we planned on a trekking adventure I thought of every reason to bail out of it. In the end we decided on an ideal introductory trek in the foothills of the Himalayas. Day 1 Pokhara:

Located just 200km west of Kathmandu, Pokhara the second largest city of Nepal ticks all the right boxes. The majestic mountains, tranquil

forward at a steady slow pace and my third limb the trekking pole I made my slow ascend. The breathtaking Himalayan vista from Dhampus (1650m) is one not to be missed. We arrived at Pothana at 13.00hr just in time for daal/bhat . A great way to carbo-load if you’ve a huge appetite just like us. Our initial plan was to stop for the day at Tolka (1760m) but on hearing that it would take us only 2.5-3.00 hrs we decided to trek all the way to Landruk (1565m). As we passed

BEYOND KATHMANDU lakes, sacred caves and the idyllic scenes of the city took our breath away. Day 2 : Phedi- Dhampus- Pothana- TolkaLandruk Starting out at Phedi we stared at thus intimidating flight of stairs facing us. Thanks to our porter Manohar (a science student, working part- time) who I observed walking slightly bent

through terraced fields the path level out and opens up to great views of the adjacent river canyon. Day3: Landruk-New Bridge- JunudadaChhomrong What better way to start off the day then with delicious Gurung bread and melted yak cheese. Descending dramatically on the way down to New Bridge, we could hear the rush of the Madi Khola . Sections of trail were washed out here, and there were epic wooden suspension bridge crossings and waterfalls — we couldn’t help but stop and take pictures every few steps. We arrived at Junudanda(1970m) and after a hearty lunch headed off straight to the hot spring (natures very own spa) another 20 minute walk at the bank of Madi Khola. This was the highlight of the day. Something else ticked off my bucket list.

Finally, we trudged up one of the steepest parts of the trek the Chhomrong stairs. It took about 1.5hrs to reach the village at the top Chhomrong (2340m). Day 4: Chhomrong- KimrongGandruk-Nayapul- Pokhara The last leg of our journey we started decending towards Kimrong.Every now and then we would hear the bells of mules and were assured aside by our porter. Both man and animal have been sharing the same path for centuries. I stopped every now and then to take pictures of beautiful wildflowers that reminded me of my childhood in boarding school, the changing vegetation and the trails of caterpillers. Upon reaching Gandruk(2012m) we were welcomed into the beautiful Gurung Village. Unfortunately we could stay here only for lunch. I recommend staying at Gandruk village the home of Annapurna Conservation Area Project for at least one night. Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is a spectacular journey, a pleasant trek through the diverse Nepalese landscape and culture. I enjoyed every moment of my 4-Day trek along the route to the world’s 10th highest mountain, Annapurna (8,091m/26,545ft).It is a difficult but beautiful walk high into the Himalayan mountains. I hope to continue this journey once again “Destination ABC”.

From within the dark pits of anguish and sorrow, there arose a team of elite players, destined to change the world. They were the SGNC kids….. SGNC was the force to be reckoned with, the frontline of attack and the brick wall of defence, proposed by none other than Lionel Messi himself. Stars cannot be made, they are born and on April, 2015… The world witnessed the beginning of power. Of resilience. Of football. We were the chosen 20, the St. George Nepalese Club.

Lead to glory by the coach UD Gurung, we stand proud and strong, the bringer of light into a world concealed in immeasurable darkness. We brought to this land, the might of football and together, we strive towards success. The 23 elite registered players are, Nawang Sherpa, Aryan Pokharel, Sambhav Gurung, Aditya Thapa, Abesh Dangol, Samman Gurung, Trizan Gurung, Sameer Gurung, Suyog Bogati, Ohm Bhandari, Marvin Gurung, Nawasin Subba, Sidhant Tuladhar, Aayush Poudel, Nirbhaya Thapa, Bikal Shrestha, Srijak Koirala, Sayal Koirala, Agrim Gurung, Ashutosh Godhar, Ansh Khadka, Neon Khanal and our brick wall Bidhan Gurung, the new Manuel Neuer. Our first Tournament was rough but we got there. We advanced to the final winning with a close score of 2-0. The training of UD Gurung had payed of and now our team had finally united.

Hoping to continue on the extraordinary performance we are aiming high for our next tournament. We are being led by an older league of players who have destroyed other puny teams and shattered their hearts, but it is not over. It is just the beginning of so much more. We were encouraged by the SGNC Senior Teams in many tournaments as they have played in NAWS, GNC, BUDDHA CUP and many other similar tournaments. Each Saturday, we chuck on our gear and put on a shirt for another day of intense training by our systematic and fierce coach. We dribble with excellence and pass with skill and shoot with pride. Always one step closer to our next tournament victory. After almost a year of hard training our bodies are growing into steel. The School was demolished by the earthquake in April 2015 and is now running a;df r9fOPsf] lyof] . out of makeshift classrooms. We will be in the village camping for 5 nights, lifting the spirits of both school kids and the villagers, assisting them in the rebuild of the section of the school. This initiative is first of its kind, and will not be the last as now we have established a foundation to further our efforts not to just one school but also various remote areas in Nepal. It was put together as soon as the Earthquake struck in April, to assist a remote school and also to continue the tourism sector in Nepal. In stern tone, she launched into a tirade, ‘Why do you always let the old scrap of paper occupy the space where breathing space hardly exists? You know, in fact I feel really disgusted with such trifles lying stuffed in any box.’ She continued growling in the same breath, ‘You only believe that each holds great importance but never try to prove their worth.’

I decided to put in an appearance on that day. I assumed friendly smile. I bit my lower lips, thereby my words slipped, ‘Uh, Sir………….uh, ……ok sir ……. I’ll try.’

He hugged me to the bosom hysterically. I was dazzled by the unexpected win. I managed to release, ‘Thanks ….thanks …….. thank you Sir.’ It’d be rank ungratefulness if I did not ascribe this achievement to him.

I wish I could tell the bottom line but I would not be gratified until I related it in considerable detail. I did not fabricate it but obviously added spice to it lest she should fall asleep. I began hurriedly after a brief space for reflection. ‘The happening took place when I was in the 8th standard. Gentleman, every inch, my best teacher asked me to write a poem to participate in the Inter-Class Poetry Competition to be held in nearly two weeks’ time on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the school. It set my non-literary mind in whirl. Poetry and me

I put forth hard work even extra efforts. I strove with all my wits. How could I forget his favourite quotations? –‘The secret of success is getting started. Yet more encouraging was, ‘Good preparation leads to good success.’ As busy as bee, I prepared for the poem day in day out. I somehow managed to write a poem which my father thought that it was more intricate than his artist friend’s abstract art. But I persisted.

Finally there arrived the anxiously awaited day. I was with other participants at the side of the stage on the ground. There was arising in my mind a dreadful uneasiness. Many a schoolmate, most of who were my seniors, recited their poems before my turn. But hardly any of their poems pierced my ears because I was preoccupied with my turn. When my name was called, I headed to the stage collecting all my guts. My teacher was in the front seat of audience-section facing the stage. I cast an eager glance over him. His one angelic smile emboldened and comforted me and aroused my confidence. Clasping

God that I myself did not understand that poem. It was like ‘wheels within wheels’. I wonder if I can understand it now. For me, it is still out of focus. Whatsoever it brought me the first prize. I won the contest more importantly for him.’ In next year’s annual function, incidentally the Silver Jubilee Birth Anniversary, I prayed he be blessed to win the ‘Teacher of the Year Award’. My wife put in hastily, ‘The strange poem, stranger still was the way it’s rated first. It’s as much as any wonder can happen.’ She observed smartly, ‘It calls for a celebration. In the name of your prize winning poem, you’d better throw a splendid party to honour the wonderful teacher. This time around let’s go out for dinner – your treat.’ Beaming with a smile she added, ‘Rest assured, I’ll put it in the fine frame.’ I wondered, ‘Is it a flattering remark?’ On second thought I asked her, ‘Are you serious?’ ‘Precisely so, I’ve never been more serious,’ retorted she at once.
