START THE CONVERSATION WITH YOUR BUDGET
By Leah Economos
Many brides are surprised that most vendors insist on knowing their budget before providing a detailed proposal. Truth is, this saves you both time and prevents miscommunication, sticker shock and getting attached to an idea you just can’t afford.
Why Share Your Budget?
Because you’re a busy bride with limited spare time, you’ll want this process to be as efficient as possible. Also, the vendors you’re interviewing respect your time and aim to make the proposal process as simple and straightforward as possible. With knowledge of your budget, each vendor will be able to provide a proposal in the price range you have specified.
The Dangers of a Proposal that’s Above Your Budget
A proposal with no budget guideline has several dangers. The first one is sticker shock. Many brides are truly shocked by the cost of wedding elements. Being surprised by your proposal price is not only unpleasant, but it may cause you to eliminate a wedding vendor from consideration who is truly capable of supplying a fantastic alternative for half the price—they just had no idea how much you wanted to spend!
Beyond the sticker shock, there’s another danger: attachment! You’re likely to become attached to all of the beautiful options conjured up in that initial proposal—and they’re way out of your price range. This will only create disappointment down the road as you find it impossible to be satisfied with more budget friendly alternatives.
Your style, taste, and personal preferences are equally as important as your budget. But, if you start out with a proposal that’s above your budget, trimming it down will be the only solution. That will mean parting with some elements you may love, and it also will delay arriving at your “budget happy place” while your salesperson revises your proposal. To avoid this dilemma, simply share your budget with vendors in your first conversation.
Finding a Fit
There’s a possibility that your vision and budget aren’t a match for a particular vendor, and that’s okay! If they aren’t able to offer the service or product you’re looking for within the amount you’re willing to pay, don’t be shy about telling them your budget is firm and you’ll have to look elsewhere.
If you consult several reputable vendors and continue to hear your vision can’t be accomplished within the amount you want to pay, it’s probably an indication your budget isn’t reasonable. Consider shifting money from another category within your overall budget, or open your mind to more budget friendly options that still allow you to have a great event.
Great vendors will do their best to offer an alternative to suit your budget, whether it’s a fabulous short rib small plate station instead of filet mignon, or ranunculus for your bouquet instead of peonies.
Take Steps in the Right Direction
Occasionally, brides can get stuck in what is referred to as 'proposal la-la land.' This is what happens when you continue to swoon over Pinterest pictures and celebrity weddings featuring ideas far outside your budget range. Remember, the goal is to arrive at a proposal you’re happy with and can afford.
Trusting Your Vendors
Some couples say they don’t feel comfortable sharing their actual budget with vendors they’re interviewing, for fear that they will "use up all the money,” and I want to offer some insight on that topic. Any vendor you’re considering hiring should make you feel comfortable and cared for as a customer. If at any point you feel pressured in a used-carsalesman-fashion, you’re in the wrong place. When it comes to budget, remember: you’re in charge. Your florist or caterer isn’t going to reach into your wallet and take your money. When you agree on a price, make sure you’re comfortable with the amount you’re spending.
Bottom Line
You’ll make your planning process easier, avoid disappointment and sticker shock and develop a great relationship with your vendor team by sharing your budget from the beginning.
Join us in Atlanta for an afternoon with more than 100 wedding vendors across every category. BUDGET BREAKDOWN
When you start planning your wedding, one of the very first things you’ll need to create is a budget. The most helpful approach for you, your partner, and your respective families will be to openly discuss how much everyone will be able to contribute. Today, it is not uncommon for the bride and groom to foot the entire bill, or for the families to share the expenses. When discussing your expenses with your loved ones, be sure to remain courteous and realistic.

SELECT YOUR STYLE
Before you go all Pinterest crazy and the little green monster inside of you starts to take over, we want to give you a bit of guidance to make sure that during your wedding planning process, you stay true to you. We know on a regular basis we are plagued with an overwhelming urge to keep up with the Joneses and it can be especially difficult to fend off that urge when it comes to your wedding. Here, we’ve compiled some basic tips to help you identify your true style as a couple and arm you with the know-how you’ll need to pull it all together.
10 WAYS TO FIND YOUR INSPIRATION

BE TRUE TO YOU
Ultimately, you know deep down inside what's truly important to you. Just know this: your wedding is the first big event you will host together as a couple so it's the first time to let your personalities truly shine in front of friends and family. Whatever your source of inspiration, make decisions that feel right to you, not what you've seen other couples do.

PASSION
Everyone has a hobby, activity, cause or pledge they fully support and this may be just the place to draw inspiration from. Show off your priorities in life to your guests by finding inspiration from what your true passions are.

LOCATION
Your venue will have a great deal of impact on the environment of your wedding. If you opt for a barn, you'll likely want to go for a more rustic feel. Or, if you book the most prestigious hotel in town, a glamorous wedding for you it is! Don't overlook your biggest expense in the wedding as a possible source for your overall theme too.

TIME OF THE DAY
Are you a morning person or night owl? Whatever your preference, the time of day you ultimately choose to host your wedding ceremony and reception will affect the feel of the event. If you and your fiance are up and at 'em each day with a morning coffee, a brunch wedding just might be the thing for you. The possibilities are endless!

MUSE
Inspiration abounds from a myriad of places and a muse might be just the thing you center your wedding style around. Your favorite movie, color, flower, character, season or destination. Pick something near and dear to you and let it guide all of your style decisions.

SCALE
When you put together your guest list you'll either be looking at a large event or intimate gathering. The amount of people you choose to invite will affect the environment so when looking for sources of inspiration, remember how big or intimate the event will feel with the amount of friends and family in attendance and work off of that.
AnnaShackleford Photography

WEDDING PLANNING DO'S & DON'TS
Be considerate of family traditions and wants but don't feel chained to them.
Be authentic to YOUR true style.
Create a budget, fine tune it and stick to it.
Edit. Edit. Edit. Start with a big picture and bring it into focus from there.
Manage the guest list... Don’t feel obligated to invite everyone. This will help your budget too.

JOINT INTERESTS
Do you and the future hubs have a common interest that brought you together? Flying, skydiving, traveling or food? Whatever it is you spend your free time doing, consider letting it be the source of your wedding style. Golf anyone?

FORMALITY
If you're a Great Gatsby girl at heart, a formal setting just might be the style for you. But, if a laid back casual setting is for you, so be it. Consider your personal preferences on dressing down or up when identifying the style wedding you want.

HERITAGE & HISTORY
Do you hail from a great land afar or find yourself among a long lineage of great folks? Then let your family history and heritage guide the style of your wedding and enjoy reminiscing with your parents and loved ones about your roots.

CONSIDER THE SEASON
The time of the year could greatly affect the overall style of your wedding. Temperature and foliage are great places to find inspiration and build your wedding style around.
Don't spend too much energy focusing on what others are doing.
Don't let the party details outshine the magic of your marriage.
Don't skimp on wedding vendors. Trust us... you get what you pay for.
Don't sweat the small stuff.
Brand It
Branding might be a term you've only thought to be relevant to marketing departments. When it comes to modern day weddings, branding on a personal level takes company logos and color combinations and transforms them into monograms, slogans and themes.
WHAT'S IN A PERSONAL BRAND?
Monograms, color preferences, favorite fonts and even paper weights are the essential tools-of-the-trade wedding stationers and designers use to make your personal style shine through to family and friends.
HOW & WHERE TO BRAND....
If you want to create a custom wedding brand, your stationer is the go-to creative guru to turn to. They are the graphic designers behind all the great typography and scroll work you see in wedding magazines and blogs.
Here are several places we recommend you use your personal wedding brand...

q Coasters
q Directional Signage
q Menu Cards
q Escort Cards or Place Cards
q Bar Signs
q Drink Stirrers

citrus INSPIRATION
A bright citrus color palette is complemented by generous
bouquets of peonies, roses, double tulips and sweet peas at this outdoor styled shoot on Tybee Island.

THIS STYLED SHOOT WAS ALL ABOUT BRIGHT COLORS AND CITRUS ACCENTS. THE EXISTING CITRUS TREE IN THE BACKYARD OF THE VENUE SERVED AS INSPIRATION TO CREATE A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT TO SHOWCASE THE PROPERTIES’ POTENTIAL TO FUTURE BRIDES.

The Planner & Stylist Says...
When designing this shoot, we focused on bold, vibrant colors and added citrus elements to play off the bright beach-like vibe. The mixture of oranges, lemons, grapefruit, limes and pomegranates added an extra element of pizazz to the tablescape and made it feel so refreshing in the heat of summer.

Terri, a planner and florist, and Sarah, a wedding photographer, celebrated their 10 years in the wedding industry together with a fun, bright, modern, and confetti-filled styled shoot.

The Planners Say...
We were so excited to celebrate color, whimsy, and the modern bride with this fun and brightly-styled shoot at the brand new North Georgia venue, Meadows at Mossy Creek. The design began with a vision of confetti, cotton candy pink, and an industrial barn door dripping in an ombre of florals in every color imaginable. The venue features a clean and modern white room with lots of windows, and we knew this was the perfect canvas for our colorful dream shoot.

“When planning this shoot, we knew we wanted to go with something modern yet timeless without overshadowing the gorgeous grounds at the Swan House. By keeping things neutral against the luscious green background, we were able to capture a look that will stand the test of time. My favorite design element is the spirea sprigs used in the centerpieces. ”

down THE RABBIT HOLE
Emulating a whimsical British garden party, elegant yet with an element of fantasy, this styled shoot answers the question: If Alice in Wonderland got married, what would it look like?

Incorporate things like...
• GRAND ESTATE LAWN
• BILLOWING FLORAL RUNNER
• BRIGHT BOUQUETS
• OLD BOOKS AND TEACUPS FOR STORYBOOK STYLE
• VINTAGE DRESSER AND SWEETHEART COUCH

My goal was to bring a romantic and refreshing vibe to the 1902 historicschoolhouse-turned-wedding-venue. I kept the florals soft and simple with a dusty blue and soft pink table linens. I worked with the florist to create dimension by alternating tall flute vases with fish bowl vases. The white walls of the venue were really the perfect backdrop to highlight the spring colors.

venue guide
A Vetted Resource of the Most Reputable Special Event Locations Across Georgia and Florida.
Our Venue Guide is all about finding the right location for your wedding. After all, it all starts with your venue. There are appropriate facilities for weddings of all sizes, but when you’re choosing the perfect spot for your next event, all of those options can be overwhelming. The size of the crowd will narrow your choices, but then there are still numerous types of venues to consider.
Whatever your particular tastes, when the time comes to choose your wedding location, know what to look for in a venue before you book.
See more details from the wedding featured here on page 136.
WEDDING VENUE REVIEW
So, exactly what type of occasion do you envision for your upcoming wedding? Knowing this will ease your venue search because the setting affects the overall style tremendously. Not to mention the budget! In the Southeast, the options for brides are limitless. From country clubs to hotels, city clubs, resorts, barns, private mansions and everything in between... you’ve got options.
HOW MANY HOURS DOES MY RENTAL FEE INCLUDE? ARE THERE OVERTIME CHARGES?
Some venues charge by the hour for use of their facility. Knowing exactly how many hours are included, and allotting plenty of time for set up and tear down is important.
HOW DO YOU CHARGE? PER PERSON, BY THE HOUR OR FLAT FEE?
It’s always good to know how your venue charges for rental. It's likely facilities that include catering will charge a per person rate and venues without catering will charge a flat fee or hourly rental.
CAN I BRING IN MY OWN VENDORS OR DO I HAVE TO USE A PREFERRED VENDOR LIST SUPPLIED BY THE VENUE?
Many venues will supply you with a list of their preferred wedding vendors to use. This can be helpful to the bride who needs direction and referrals but also a hindrance for brides who know exactly which vendors they'd like to use. Clarify with your venue whether it's required or not to use their specified vendors before you book.
CAN I BRING IN MY OWN ALCOHOL?
Venues that don't carry their own liquor license may allow brides to bring in their own alcohol. This is not typically the norm, but there are a few venues out there with this option. Remember, if you do opt to bring in your own alcohol, you'll want to hire a bar service to tend to guests.
IF NOT, IS THERE AN ALCOHOL MINIMUM?
Often venues with liquor licenses will have a bar minimum in addition to the cost of their venue rental. Best to have a heads up about this before you book for budgeting.
QUESTIONS TO ASK A POTENTIAL VENUE . . . RECEPTION VENUE CHECKLIST
HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL THE SPACE HOLD (NOT JUST OFFICIAL CAPACITY) ACCORDING TO MY ROOM SET UP?
Your room set up will greatly affect the amount of guests you can have at your wedding. Official capacities are for the fire marshal. You'll want to focus on how many guests you can fit into the room with a seated dinner, estate table, dance floor or buffet set up.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE VENUE RENTAL?
Most venues have house items that are included in the cost of their facility rental like dance floors, tables, chairs, standard linens, etc. But, there are several venues that don't offer this and could result in an additional cost to you. Ask before you book.
WHAT IS THE PARKING SITUATION?
Valet parking, limited options, street parking or ample complimentary parking for guests are all important things to consider.
WILL THERE BE OTHER WEDDINGS HAPPENING ON THE SAME DAY?
Depending on the size of the venue, it will be nice to know whether your event will be the only one happening on property or if there will be others. Other events may infringe on your time use of the venue or create confusion for guests so best to be prepared.
HOW MUCH ARE TAXES AND GRATUITY? ARE THEY INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE PRICES?
Taxes and gratuity can vary greatly. Some venues include both in their package prices while others add it on. Be sure to consider this when you are planning your budget, as it can be well over 30% of your reception budget.
The thing about a wedding venue is... there are a lot of extras, options and upgrades and every single venue has a different package and procedure. So, to make sure you are comparing apples to apples, use this handy checklist when identifying the best venue for you.

hiring vendors
TO EXECUTE YOUR STYLE
Besides the setting, your wedding vendors will make the most impact on the success of your wedding day. The professional services they supply like wedding planning, coordination, entertainment, floral design, rentals and catering are the essential event elements no party could take place without. Their expertise orchestrate the senses you and your guests will experience throughout the day, so finding the very best companies to execute your style is of utmost importance.
That’s where we come in. The Celebration Society is connected to the most reputable wedding vendors across the Southeast. We have a personal relationship with almost all of the vendors represented in this book. Seek their expertise and soak it up.
You’ll be a better hostess because of it.
See more details from the wedding featured here on page 132.
Building YOUR WEDDING TEAM

The proposal was everything you dreamed it would be. You’re rocking the diamond ring. You’ve called your mom. Now what? Now you begin to put your vendor team together. Here’s how (and when!) to find the people that will move heaven and earth to make sure your day is perfect.

WEDDING PLANNER

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Plan on hiring a full-service planner at least 12 months from your wedding day. You should choose your wedding planner first to reserve your date on their calendar and have their guidance during the entire wedding planning process. From the beginning to the end, your wedding planner will be your experienced counsel for every vendor interview, contract, and scheduling question.
QUESTIONS TO ASK POTENTIAL VENDORS . . .
How do you charge? Per hour, lump sum, percentage of total budget?
Are there specific vendors you like to use?
What is the process of selecting and hiring vendors?
Can I use other vendors?
What is the process of paying vendors? Is that done through you or direct to vendors?
Do you handle vendor services, contract and payment processing?
Do you handle guest list coordination and RSVPs?
What is your specialty?
How many meetings will we have together? In person, via phone?

How much does it cost?
PRICE RANGE
Many full-service wedding planners will charge a percentage of your total wedding cost. Day-of coordinators will likely charge $2,000-$4,500 depending on the scope of work.
VENUE AND CATERING

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Venue and catering should be booked about 12 months from your wedding day. Book early to reserve your preferred wedding date as event venues will likely be booked for weddings up to a year in advance. Your budgeting will rely on whether or not catering is included in the pricing on your contract, so do your research. The style of your wedding venue will affect the overall style of your wedding. Whether you choose a glamorous ballroom or countryside barn—everything from your wedding dress, flowers to music selection will be affected.
QUESTIONS TO ASK POTENTIAL VENDORS . . .
Do you specialize in specific food types?
Is a tasting included in your services?
Will you provide waitstaff? Is that extra?
If so, what is the ratio of staff to guest?
What will your staff wear?
How do you work with my wedding planner and venue?
Do you provide hot meals for our vendors? If so, what is the menu and cost per person?
Do you handle china, silverware and glassware rental?
What do you charge for cake cutting and serving?

How much does it cost?
Is tax and gratuity included?
How do you handle clean up and trash removal?
PRICE RANGE
Catering costs are dependent on the menu, venue and set up, but for a starting point can run between $35$110+ per person not including any alcohol, linen or decor upgrades.
WEDDING DRESS

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Plan on purchasing your wedding dress about 11 months from your wedding day. Once you decide on where you will get married and where the reception will be, it’s time to go dress shopping! Knowing your wedding location is just as important as knowing your dress size when it comes to shopping for a gown, so be sure to have a solid idea of your venue. Most bridal stores will need to place the order for your dress from the dress designer at least 10 months in advance, while custom creations could take even longer. Pick your bridal party and groomsmen attire now too.
QUESTIONS TO ASK POTENTIAL VENDORS . . .
Are appointments required to try on bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses?
How far in advance should I schedule an appointment, and how long do appointments last?
How many guests can attend the appointment with me? Who should I bring?
Should I bring special undergarments, shoes or accessories?
What sample sizes do you carry?
What designers do you feature?
What price range can I expect?
Do I have to pay in full before the gown is ordered?
How long will it take for my gown to arrive?
Are alterations included?
How much does it cost?
PRICE RANGE
Wedding dresses are going to range enormously depending on designer, intricacy of details (like lace or beading), and how much of the gown is custom. An average dress, however, is going to hover anywhere from $2,000-$6,000+

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Plan to book a photographer 11 months from your wedding date. Since photography businesses are most often run by a single person or small teams of creative professionals that work one wedding per day, it's important to book early. Be sure to take your venue into account when determining your preferred photography style. Digital photography thrives both indoors and out, and has a timeless look while light and airy film photography should be reserved for those celebrating their day outside, since it needs as much natural light as possible.
QUESTIONS TO ASK POTENTIAL VENDORS . . .
What is your primary style of photography? Traditional or documentary? How independent is the photographer? Does he want to know all the shots you’d like or free reign to shoot all the moments of the day at will?
Will the photographer I book be the one to shoot my wedding?
How long after the wedding will the photos be ready?
What happens if the photographer is ill on the day of the wedding?
What are your backup procedures?
What is included in your pricing? Albums, hours of coverage, engagement session, etc.?
How much does it cost?
PRICE RANGE
Professional wedding photographers will likely charge $2,000-$6,000 depending on experience level, demand, medium, and packages.
MUSICIANS/ENTERTAINMENT

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Think about your reception music and book as soon as you have your venue reserved. Whether you are leaning toward a live band or rockin’ DJ with light show, music sets the tone for your evening. Your band leader or DJ will play an important role at your wedding, so we strongly recommend meeting with them in person. As the master of ceremony, they will be in command of the flow of your evening, from introducing the wedding party to announcing your departure and getting your guests outside to say goodbye. They can also read the energy on the dance floor to keep it busy and fun for everyone. Also consider your music for the ceremony: do you want piano music, a string quartet, a vocalist? You may need to reach out to several musicians in order to bring your vision to life.
QUESTIONS TO ASK POTENTIAL VENDORS . .
How much set up time do you need?
Do you have demos online where I can view your performance?
What is your signature sound?
How do you feel about a request list?
How many breaks will you need?
What is your experience being the master of ceremonies?

How much does it cost?
PRICE RANGE
A professional DJ will likely charge between $1,200 to $2,000+ depending on their expertise and availability. Live bands typically start at $2,500 depending on size and demand. Ceremony musicians will likely charge an hourly rate.
VIDEOGRAPHY

FLORAL DESIGN

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Plan on hiring a videographer about 10 months from your wedding date. More often than not, a videography business is run by a single person or a duo of creative professionals that work one wedding per day. Much of why you’ll hire them is based on loving their editing style, ability to capture details most important to you (like a first dance, or the ceremony itself) and loving their pricing even more, so once you find your match, make it official by signing the contract. With a film, you'll be able to relive your day with your future family and remember even the smallest details you and your vendor team worked so hard to create.
QUESTIONS TO ASK POTENTIAL VENDORS . . .
What is your cinematography style?
Have you worked with our photographer?
How does the crew stay unobtrusive during the ceremony and reception?
How long after the wedding will the video be ready?
How much does it cost?
What is your process?
Am I allowed to make edits once you present the video to us?
What are your backup procedures?
What happens if the cinematographer is ill on the day of the wedding?
PRICE RANGE
Professional wedding videographers will likely charge between $2,000$5,000+ depending on experience level, demand and packages
HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Choose your floral designer about eight months in advance. This gives you a good amount of time to get on the schedule for the best wedding florist in your area and brainstorm with them on your vision. With the help of your planner, you and your floral designer can select a color palette, make note of blooms you love (or hate!) and outline a proper budget for the arrangements you'll need. Knowing what styles you like before going into a consultation means more time talking helpful specifics.
QUESTIONS TO ASK POTENTIAL VENDORS . . .
What is your style?
What is your process?
Have you worked at this venue before?
How do items get returned after the wedding? Will you pick up?
Do you offer rental items.. vases, trellis,
How much does it cost?
decor... or must they be supplied via a rental company?
Can my guests take centerpieces home?
Do you charge for mockup centerpieces before my wedding or is that included?
Dahlias are my favorite kind of flower. Will they be in season for my wedding?
PRICE RANGE
Flower pricing is dependent on the amount of decor at your wedding. You’ll want to budget starting at $1,500 for the basics like bouquets, boutonnières and know the sky is truly the limit for the rest.
WEDDING CAKE

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Plan to hire a baker six to eight months in advance. While a cake baker can serve multiple weddings in a weekend, chances are they can’t serve an endless amount. So we say get on the schedule in advance by signing the wedding cake contract. Again, it’s likely you’ll have your tasting a bit later in the process, but reserving your spot in their weekend schedule ahead of time will make sure you get the cake baker you like the best. Before your tasting, be sure to research what types of frostings and finishes do best in your style venue.
QUESTIONS TO ASK POTENTIAL VENDORS . . .
Are you licensed by the state health department?
How does delivery work?
What happens if something is damaged on the cake in transit?
Do you do sugar flowers and custom sculptured pieces from sugar?
How much does it cost?
INVITATIONS & PAPERGOODS

What are the options for cake flavors and fillings?
Fondant or Buttercream?
What is your average cost per slice?
Will you design a custom cake or do you have preset styles to choose from?
Is the cake stand provided by you?
PRICE RANGE
Your wedding cake will likely cost approximately $4 - $8+ per slice depending on the complexity of the design, baker’s skill level and availability.
HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Look into booking your stationer six to eight months in advance of your wedding date. If you would like to send out save the dates, you’ll want to choose your stationery designer eight months in advance. For invitations only, you should start to look at options six months out. Traditional etiquette states invitations should be mailed out at least eight weeks prior to the wedding day. Custom stationery processes will likely take around two to three months, since multiple consultations, proofing and printing time needs to be taken into account.
QUESTIONS TO ASK POTENTIAL VENDORS . . .
Do you design custom work or sell from invitation lines?
Do you help with branding or custom monograms?
Is there a specific style you specialize in?
Do you offer calligraphy or addressing services?
How much does it cost?
Will you supply a proof before the invitation is officially printed?
What happens if there is an error?
How long after I place the order will the invitations come in?
Can I purchase additional personalized items like Save-the Date, welcome bags, favor tags, etc.?
PRICE RANGE
Depending on the complexity of the invitation suites, you can expect to pay between $4 - $8+ per invite. Further customizations will increase your per piece price.
HAIR & MAKE UP

JEWELRY

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Plan on hiring your hair and makeup artist team about six to eight months from your wedding date. Chances are you are as thick as thieves with your hair dresser and have your cut and color pre-booked every time you leave the salon, and for good reason! But does your stylist do bridal updos? Many don’t. That's where on-site teams come in. Your beauty vendors will likely only be able to serve one full bridal party per Saturday. So book them sooner rather than later.
QUESTIONS TO ASK POTENTIAL VENDORS . . .
How far in advance should I book my appointment?
I’d like to book with my bridesmaids. Will you be able to accommodate all of us?
How much time should I allow for hair and makeup on my wedding day?
How much should I expect to spend?
Do you offer consultations and trials?
How much does it cost?
Do you offer hair extensions?
Do you offer onsite services? How far will you travel?
Can you accommodate sensitive skin?
Do you offer a touch-up kit or touch-up services?
PRICE RANGE
On-site bridal hair will usually cost around $200 while full makeup application will average around $125. Bridesmaids and moms average around $85 for hair styling and $75 for makeup application. Trials and consultation for both typically run about $75
HERE'S
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Shop for wedding bands at least three months before the wedding. Did you shop for the engagement ring together? Then you may have an idea of what bands will complement it. Do you want your bands to match? What about engraving: you may want to add your initials, wedding date, or meaningful phrase. Also take into consideration how often you will wear your wedding band (every day or not too often), your activity level (should you consider a durable design?) and how the ring actually feels on your finger as you parade around the store.
QUESTIONS TO ASK POTENTIAL VENDORS . . .
What are the payment terms?
Deposit and then final payment at pick-up?
How long does engraving take?
What if my ring doesn’t fit?
How much does it cost?
What if I damage my ring and it needs repairs?
Can my ring be easily resized?
How do I care for my ring?
PRICE RANGE
Simple bands can start at about $1,000 and it’s up to your budget for the rest!

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Looking for colored champagne flutes or uniquely shaped place settings, patterned linens or chair covers? Rental stores have chairs, tables, linens, china, crystal, silverware and more in various shapes, sizes and styles. You’ll also find beautiful serving accessories – from champagne fountains to elegant silver chafing dishes. Check with your caterer to find out what they provide and if they have different styles to choose from. A fully equipped rental store will also have a wide selection of ceremony accessories, or you can create a luxurious cocktail hour with hip lounge furniture and a martini bar.
QUESTIONS TO ASK POTENTIAL VENDORS . . .
Will you deliver and collect my rental items?
Is there a cost difference if I pick up and return the items myself?
What deposits are required?
Do you have a minimum rental amount?
How much does it cost?
TRANSPORTATION

What is the damage/deposit policy? Will you set up my items?
PRICE RANGE
You can rent by the piece, for example, a vintage china dinner plate or champagne flute will run about $2 each. For chair rental, think $6-$8 each.
HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Book your transportation at least four to six months in advance. Your arrival and your departure are two key moments in your wedding. Like so many other selections you are making, your mode of transportation can reflect your taste and personalities. Chicago has so many options, from horse-drawn carriage rides to Italian gondolas along the river, to vintage cars and stretch limos. And you may want to consider a trolley or bus for your guests, especially if they are staying at a hotel after your reception.
QUESTIONS TO ASK POTENTIAL VENDORS
Are you priced by the hour? What is the minimum and how many stops does that include?
Do you offer shuttle service?
Does your price include taxes and gratuity? Are there other fees?
What attire will the driver be wearing?
How much does it cost?
Will beverages or snacks be provided?
What are the back-up options if the vehicle breaks down the day of the wedding?
PRICE RANGE
Pricing will vary, depending if you are looking for a cozy ride for two or a party bus. Expect an hourly rate and minimum to start. For example, a party bus for up to five hours will be in the $1,500 to $1,800 range.

They shared their love with 150 of their favorite people at Bella Collina with a ceremony on the grand lawn, a cocktail hour by the reflection pool and a reception in the ballroom. Bella Collina had the Tuscan vibe the bride always dreamed of. Kelsey wore a form-fitting Martina Liana gown with an open back, and intricate lace and sequin details. Her bridesmaids wore gold, pink, nude and champagne, and the groomsmen wore dark navy Indochino suits with pink bowties. Oliver, the couple’s dog, served as the ring bearer amongst understated flowers in combinations of soft white peonies, ranunculus and hydrangeas.
Post-cocktails and appetizers, guests were treated to entrées consisting of horseradish-crusted filet mignon, French-cut chicken with risotto, almond-crusted snapper or a three-cheese ravioli. Kelsey and Dan not only presented their guests with a dessert table of turtle cheesecake, crème brulee and chocolate mousse, but also a rustic two-tiered vanilla cake with vanilla bean-flavored buttercream filling for traditionalists. A variety of pizza graced tables later in the evening.
Bay Kings Band lit up the night! Because Dan is a drummer, a live band that could perform danceable contemporary music was essential. (Yes, the groom got a chance to play during the anniversary dance, which was special because the couple knew Kelsey’s grandparents would be the last ones on the floor.) Alas, the two masters of ceremonies were engaging, and the saxophone and horns added an extra punch of production value.

“Our florist, Lee James, was very helpful with recommending ways to repurpose flowers throughout the day, which we really appreciated. Some vendors offered discounts for paying up front, so we tried to take advantage of that when possible. We ended up having a close family friend make our signs, which saved us a bunch and turned out so cute!”

Catharine & James
THE GASPARILLA INN & CLUB
BOCA GRANDE, FL
As a couple from Atlanta looking for a getaway, Catharine and James opted for a gorgeous Boca Grande beach wedding overlooking the Gulf of Mexico during sunset. The couple got their first look at each other on the illustrious Banyan Street, among its majestic trees, along with their puppy ring bearer. The bride wore a wedding gown with classic lines and details of intricate lace, while her bridesmaids wore sapphire. The tropical beachside theme lent itself to exotic, vibrantly colored orange and pink flowers and greenery, which were complemented by pink handblock table linens custom-made by the bride, bamboo chairs, tiki torches, hurricane candles and string lights.
The poolside reception for 100 commenced with cocktails at the Gasparilla Inn and Club, which made for an ideal setting under the stars. Guests dined on entrees of filet mignon or snapper before grooving to I Love This Band from EastCoast Entertainment. The band brought the energy from the get-go, with everyone on the dance floor all night long. The groom surprised the bride with a brilliant fireworks show to cap off the magical evening. Soon thereafter, Catharine and James were jet-setting off to southern Italy for a romantic honeymoon.

Eileen
& Nicholas
MONTALUCE WINERY & RESTAURANT
DAHLONEGA, GA
Eileen and Nicholas envisioned a take-your-breath-away setting for their wedding, but also wanted guests to feel at home, so they chose Montaluce Winery & Restaurant for its southern elegance and romantic, yet unpretentious charm. Sheer white fabric draped from a tree branch formed the impromptu-looking alter under which the bride’s cousin officiated, while the bouquets and other floral adornments integrated Vendela and Juliet roses with anemones, white ranunculus, pink dahlias and silver-dollar eucalyptus. Eileen dressed in a chic long-sleeve, illusions lace Martina Liana gown, whereas her bridesmaids chose blush pink dresses in varied styles that could accommodate their height (many being former volleyball teammates, meaning very tall).
Because Eileen and Nicholas have been through three cross-country moves in eight years, the reception was all about reuniting loved ones and throwing one colossal party. Upon arrival, guests were greeted by a prosecco bar where they could add St. Germain and various fruits. After the ceremony, they were treated to tray-passed hors d’oeuvres and a full bar, including the bride and groom’s signature cocktails — a Moscow Mule, and gin and St. Germain — along with a custom-engraved shotski for the brave. Organically formed runners of silver-dollar eucalyptus and Italian ruscus accentuated tables topped with silver mercury-glass votive candles. Guests enjoyed an elaborate dinner of Scottish salmon and ribeye, followed with a simple yellow cake with buttercream frosting, then Chick-fil-A heart-shaped chicken biscuits, which provided revelers a perfect Georgian late-night snack.

“The most memorable moment by far was when my father and I missed the aisle! It was a long walk, and we actually ended up turning too soon and walking along the outside of all of our guests. He and I were both so nervous I didn’t even notice until I was standing at the alter and Nick whispered, ‘You missed the aisle.’ All of our guests had a chuckle, and after the ceremony was finished and it was time to walk back up the aisle, I shouted, ‘Oh, so this is the right way!’ We still poke fun at my dad from time to time.”

German & Steven
THE LILLY-MURRAY HOME STONE MOUNTAIN, GA
After 12-1/2 years, German and Steven decided it was time to make their union official, with a desire to tell their tale to 120 of their closest friends and relatives with an intimate storybook ceremony (suddenly reinspired after seeing the wedding scene in “Crazy Rich Asians”) held at their home. The event was held in a majestic white tent brimming with elegant greenery. The grooms wore sophisticated matching tuxedos with white jackets and black pants, whereas the wedding party stayed classic in black tuxes, paired with white shirts and mint green ties, and assorted, coordinating mint green dresses with silver heels or pumps.
Guests were served egg rolls and mini lump crab balls for appetizers. The main course was citrus grilled salmon or chicken piccata with rice pilaf, seasoned mixed veggies, mashed potatoes, a garden salad and choice of dinner rolls, all accompanied by a simple white wedding cake, highlighted with silver detail. German and Steven thoughtfully selected songs to be played during the ceremony and reception, embellished by DJ Jerome’s fun, energetic and romantic taste, which combined to create a magical evening. The happy couple followed up their big day by kicking up their feet for six days at a postcard resort in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

Jamie & Mark
WESTSIDE CULTURAL ARTS CENTER
ATLANTA
Jamie and Mark designed their modern, midcentury-inspired wedding with hints of holiday cheer around the date of their annual Christmas cocktail party. The Westside Cultural Arts Center exuded a cool vibe with bold jewel colors inside, and gold geometric and starburst accents throughout. Following suit, the blushing bride paired her romantic Truvelle Cambie wedding gown with funky blue Badgley Mischka shoes. The floral arrangements alternated between locally sourced turquoise, burnt orange and gold vintage vases filled with wild blooms; gold geometric terrariums filled with orchids; and bottles and modern bud vases filled with color and seasonal greenery. Turquoise napkins accented peacock blue faille table linens, while the custom-built escort wall, holding handprinted stationery in mini envelopes, was adorned in moss.
The Emerald Empire Band started off with a bass and keys duo for the ceremony and cocktail hour (which was presented in the trendy art gallery), while the jazz trio had guests on their feet all night long with classic holiday, modern, hip-hop and jazz tunes. Guests dined on custom versions of the couples’ favorite dishes, such as Jamie’s tomato bisque shooter and Mark’s French toast and breakfast for dinner, along with a traditional holiday spread. The bar played host to the Bing, a specialty cocktail from a family recipe, ready to serve from frozen slushy machines. The cake incorporated a geometric pattern and consisted of chocolate cake with Oreo filling and cinnamon spice cake with white chocolate cream cheese filling. Guests were treated to gold geometric ornament favors, along with their choice of peppermint bark or peanut brittle, homemade by the couple’s mothers. This wedding was everything a holiday party should be and then some!

Jordan & Michael
MEADOWS AT MOSSY CREEK CLEVELAND, GA
Jordan and Michael’s fall boho-chic wedding was stylish and classy. Family and friends arrived to an outdoor open bar to sip cocktails overlooking mountains at the idyllic Meadows at Mossy Creek. A friend officiated the ceremony, adding personal marriage advice from family members. Then guests were escorted to a modern champagne bar with a champagne wall made by the bride’s father, and invited to play a round of corn hole or putt-putt, or pose for a picture with a cardboard cutout of Rufio, the couple’s beloved dog. Burgundy dahlias, pink king protea, garden roses, blue thistle, eucalyptus and amaranth mixed with Italian and Israeli ruscus wrapped around the gold arbor and nestled in the bride’s bouquet, while wild arrangements of burgundy amaranth and greenery dressed reception tables. Jordan stunned in a Rue de Seine dress with arm bands and the wedding party wowed in each their own style.
The indoor reception was airy with big beautiful windows and chandeliers. Tam’s Tupelo Restaurant catered Cajun and American fare, and Zell’s Cottage Bakery presented a four-tier cake with a different flavor for each tier. DJ OneNate ruled the night with a music mix catering to all. Most memorable of all, though, is when Jordan’s dad surprised his daughter with a compilation of meaningful songs during the father/daughter dance, including a surprise rap song (which he actually rapped) in the middle. To conclude the perfect evening, guest were treated to a firework show on the lawn and a silent disco finale.

Kelly & Oliver
CASA MARINA KEY WEST
KEY WEST, FL
A stark contrast to the festive Havana Nights Welcome Party the night before, Kelly and Oliver curated a sophisticated blacktie destination wedding during a weekend rounded out with Patroney’s Pool Party in honor of the bride, Patroney Moroney, a nickname bestowed due to her maiden name and love of tequila, and a golf tournament dubbed the Oli Open in honor of the groom. The couple planned an ultra-romantic seaside wedding with oceanfront I dos in the sand, a candle-lit dinner and ultrachic dance lounge complete with a confetti drop at Casa Marina Key West.
Everything — from the flowers to the linens, lounge furniture and signage — reflected a neutral palette of white, cream, blush and gray, mixed with candles, gold metallics and wooden accents, so while the wedding was uber-modern, there was a warm undercurrent of romanticism as well. Garden roses were the main floral statement among an elegant collection of blooms. The bride wore a classic mermaid-style gown by Hayley Paige and her 10 bridesmaids wore varied ivory BHLDN dresses. Guests were greeted with butler-passed champagne and sunshine. Place cards were set atop mini Patrón bottles for each guest. Dinner was a choice of filet, or mahi and saffron risotto, concluding with a coconut-flavored wedding cake with keylime vanilla frosting. Guests were then ushered into the dance lounge, which was transformed with pieces of décor from the day (including a monogrammed boxwood wall), as well as sleek furniture and a fusion band. Following a wardrobe change by the bride, guests were given midnight mini Cuban sandwiches and bottles of water as they boarded the trolley to head to the afterparty.

Bianca & Korry
THE FAIRMONT
ATLANTA
Bianca, a professional dancer, opera singer and teacher, and Korry, a designer, have always supported each other’s creative passions, and their wedding made it abundantly clear there’s no lack of artistry between the two. This whimsical wedding was guided by the words: “Love is not luck; it is fate. Love Is magic. Love is trust.” The Fairmont served as a perfect open canvas to present thematic décor of dice, playing cards, top hats and upside-down umbrellas, along with the couple’s spirit animals — a unicorn and hippo — in black, ivory, rose gold and wine. Inspired by feminine silhouettes, the ivory wedding dress accentuated Bianca’s figure with soft fabrics, detailed lace and lush tulle. Her bouquet was a mix of anemone, deep red and violet roses, and white peonies. The bridesmaids wore black dresses from several designers, selecting from crepe or chiffon, while the men donned classic black tuxes. The flower girl lined the aisle with a winter mix of snow and glitter.
Each table was named for something considered lucky or unlucky (dice, horseshoe, rabbit foot, etc.) on a backdrop of black velvet napkins and rose gold utensils. endive Publik house crafted a menu of the couple’s favorite foods — from Thai chicken wonton tacos, California rolls, tempura shrimp and sweet potato blini to a seafood paella station to Korean barbecue buns and tacos to Latic chicken and beef tenderloin — then a fun ice cream sundae bar to top it all off. The evening was full of fine entertainment, including ballet dancers performing en pointe, a magician, an aerialist on an 8-foot ring, a five-string quartet, a full band playing the bride and groom’s favorite songs, a cocktail DJ playing progressive alternative music and a reception DJ concluding with classic Atlanta trap music.

Lauren & Grymes
ARMATURE WORKS
TAMPA, FL
Lauren and Grymes wed at the iconic Sacred Heart Catholic Church in November followed by a courtyard cocktail hour and reception at Armature Works. Designed by Monique Lhuillier, Lauren’s wedding gown was timeless and regal, made of French Chantilly lace, an open back and high neck, paired with a Maria Elena belt and headpiece. Her bridal bouquet was lavishly unique and asymmetrical. Her bridal party wore blush evening gowns designed by Sorella Vita.
The bride and groom are both third- and fourth-generation Tampanian, so having their wedding in the heart of Tampa was crucial. With a guest list totaling more than 300, Armature Works, which dates back to 1910, was an ideal blank slate. The bride and groom’s vendors cozied up the 10,000-square-foot industrial space by adding dimension with hanging floral chandeliers, lounge areas decorated in deep emeralds, warm burgundies and pops of gold, and an abundance of flowers in moody burgundy- and wine-colored tones. The bride, her mother and the team at Tailored Twig worked to create a cozy and romantic winter vibe — managing to transition from a traditional ceremony into an uber-trendy reception.
Guests raved that their duet meal was a beautiful dish, while the detailed multi-layered cake provided different delicious flavors to sample, and the midnight snack consisted of casual sliders and fries. Mr. Potato Head, a sevenpiece band, catered their setlist to a wide crowd, so everyone took a turn on the dance floor to close the perfect day.

Lisa & Errol
THE VINOY RENAISSANCE RESORT & GOLF CLUB
ST. PETERSBURG, FL
Lisa and Errol were married near a water fountain graced by white orchids and petals in the courtyard of The Vinoy Renaissance Resort, with the bride in a vintage-inspired lace trumpet-style Martina Liana gown with illusion sleeves and an off-the-shoulder neckline. Her bridesmaids wore different navy chiffon gowns to match the groom’s navy tux with black accents. His groomsmen wore charcoal grey suits. White orchids and hydrangeas were interspersed throughout the wedding and banquet, some in gold vases, but the bride’s bouquet was all peonies (her favorite).
The couple wanted the wedding — from the invitations with a black-and-white photo of the Vinoy from the ‘20s to the champagne towers flanking the cake to all of the décor — to stay as true to the venue’s historical roots as possible. The glamorous Gatsby-esque affair incorporated lounge seating throughout for a swanky nightclub feel right down to the clawfoot bathtub full of beverages with customized labels to pay tribute to Prohibition. A custom art deco monogram embellished invitations, signage, napkins, custom cocktails, the ice sculpture, dance floor and more, while staff from The Grand Bevy served up craft cocktails. The couple provided a carving station with beef tenderloin and seared ahi tuna, a build-your-own-pasta station, and a raw seafood bar displayed in an ice sculpture. The wedding cake was half banana chocolate chip with chocolate ganache filling and half white with strawberry marmalade filling and Italian buttercream frosting. ATL Groove Factory put on a nonstop four-hour-long live performance of everything from Motown to contemporary hits, much to everyone’s delight.
