Letter from MAYOR MRAKAS

Spring is in the air!

Spring is here and it couldn’t feel better! As we welcome the sunshine and the warmer temperatures, we have a number of events to help usher in this change of season.

First up is our annual Hello Spring event that takes place over the Easter long weekend. This is a family favourite for Aurorans with young kids and a great way to welcome spring –and the Easter Bunny! This event takes place at the Aurora Seniors’ Centre on Saturday,

April 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will feature themed outdoor and interactive activities such as planting your own spring flower to take home, fishing for eggs, a hop-stacle course, nature toss game and more. You can even have your photo taken with the Easter Bunny! Preregistration is required for this popular event. More details are available at aurora.ca/hellospring.

Later in the month we also have our annual Community Clean Up. As the snow melts, it is time to get our Town clean and we need your help. Last year, we collected over a tonne of garbage thanks to your participation. So, join us again on Saturday, April 22 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sign up individually or as a group at cleanup@aurora.ca. Participants will receive a cleanup kit (while supplies last) that includes two garbage bags, a recycling bag, one pair gloves and safety tips.

I hope to see you at these events!

As always, I encourage residents and businesses to reach out to me at any time either by phone, through social media or in-person. I look forward to keeping everyone informed and engaged - #gettingthingsdone

Do you have personal financial goals? Using the SMART method is a great way to obtain what is most important to you.

S – SPECIFIC – Be clear on what you want to accomplish. Will this goal put you in a better financial position?

M – MEASURABLE - Express it in clear numbers, so you'll know where you are and when you've succeeded.

A – ACHIEVABLE - Take achievable steps, even if that means taking smaller ones.

R – RELEVANT - Ask yourself: Is this goal related to my overall success and why is it important to you?

T- Time Based - Giving yourself a time frame will encourage you to follow through, stop procrastinating, and keep yourself accountable.

TelMAX is in the Neighbourhood

TelMAX has o cially moved to Newmarket, and we’re proud to be part of such a vibrant community. Now that we’ve connected our first customers with 100% pure fibre high-speed internet services, we’re determined to make a difference locally.

TelMAX understands the importance of giving back to the communities we serve and is working hard to connect with our new neighbours. Not only is telMAX a member of the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce, we’ll also be partnering with the Town of Newmarket to sponsor a variety of exciting events in the coming year. Most notably, telMAX is the presenting partner of the Newmarket Home & Lifestyle Show, which runs on April 1 and 2.

TelMAX provides Fibre Broadband internet, TV, and home phone services, and has recently been named as Canada’s fastest internet service provider by PC Magazine. Our company uses the latest technology to provide synchronous speeds with future capability of delivering up to 10 Gbps.

Our goal is to support under-serviced communities throughout Ontario by giving local businesses and residents access to a reliable, 100 % pure fibre network. In the last two years, we’ve built fibre optic networks in Stouffville, Brooklin, and, recently, Newmarket.

While we’re new to the community, we are deeply committed to helping those we serve. We have o ces both in Stouffville and Newmarket, and make it a priority to employ local staff.

We’re looking forward to meeting local residents at the Home & Lifestyle Show, the largest of its kind in York Region. Keep an eye out for new events and initiatives sponsored by telMAX throughout the year.
