A Message from MP Leah Taylor Roy

Spring is in the air!

April is here and that means spring is in the air! As the sun shines and the weather gets warmer it is important for us to reflect on the changing seasons and what that means for us as individuals.

The spring season brings us an abundance of diverse celebrations such as Nowruz, Easter, Passover & Eid Al-Fitr all celebrated by many constituents within my riding of Aurora- Oak Ridges- Richmond Hill. Each of these celebrations are amongst the most important for those who celebrate them. While Nowruz is the first day of spring and the commencement of the Persian calendar's new year, Eid al-Fitr signifies the conclusion of Ramadan, an entire month of fasting observed by Muslims around the world.

Spring is a time for birth and growth. Soon our trees and flowers will once again bloom after the winter season, our days will lengthen, and the warmer air will allow us to spend more time outside and in nature.

No matter what and how you celebrate the arrival of spring and the upcoming holidays, it is my honour and privilege to be celebrating alongside you! I invite you to my upcoming Coffee & Chat on Saturday April 22nd from 10:30am to noon- ideally outdoors. On March 3rd, MP-Leah Taylor Roy along with her fellow York Region Liberal Caucus members hosted an International Women’s Day Celebration! An amazing event held at the Aurora Town Hall, we heard from distinguished guests, Minister Marci Ien and Minister Mary Ng! We also heard from three women, Anastasia Dieieva, Lily Pourzand & Malika Khimji who shared their unique stories of triumph, bravery, strength and compassion! Thank you MP-Leah Taylor Roy for bringing us all together, it was an inspiring event!

Town of Newmarket's WinterFest was held on February 18th at the Ray Twinney Sports Complex and was a feast for the eyes, ears and tummy! There was something for everyone. Ferris wheel rides, the Snow Valley Tube Slide (no snow - no problem), dancing to the sweet sounds of Bernadette Connors and delicious beaver tails that you could enjoy sitting fire side. Congratulations to the Town of Newmarket on another incredible event!

The Aurora Town Park was packed with families enjoying Family Day on February 20th! There were shows all day at the bandshell and the park was filled with activities including axe throwing, hockey skills, a fishing pond, mini snow tubing, ice sculptures, Lumberjack Shows and live music all day in The Armoury, compliments of the Aurora Cultural Centre. We would like to give a huge thank you to the Town of Aurora for providing such a fun day!
