Neighbour Media was honoured to celebrate Purim on March 7th with Chabad Newmarket at the Newmarket Community Centre. Purim is a Jewish holiday which commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from annihilation at the hands of an anti-Jewish o cial of the Achaemenid Empire named Haman, as it is recounted in the Book of Esther. A tradition for Purim is for individuals to dress up in costume. There are a few reasons why people dress up for Purim; 1 example being, that it is to replicate the idea of Esther hiding her Jewish identity from the King.

On March the 4th, Central York Fire Services partnered with members of the OPP, York Regional Police York Regional Paramedic Services and 20 other community partner groups, kicking off the week of International Women's Day with a huge community event at the Fire Station 4-5, in Aurora. In addition to the first responders, community partners included SeeWhatSheCanDo, Global Pet Foods, Lulu Lemon, Madd, Seneca College and many more. Attendees enjoyed a hockey shootout, a mannequin drag that was set up by the OPP and even Bat-Woman swung by to hang out. The event was set up to INSPIRE the next generation of first responders and to allow women and young girls the opportunity to speak with women currently in these first-responder professions.
