The Charity of the Month for December is EAC Network

EAC Network is a non-profit organization that empowers, assists and cares for individuals in need. Their objective is to reach individuals within our community through innovative programs that improve quality of life. This organization has five service areas: Children & Youth, Family & Community, Senior & Nutrition Services, Vocational Services & Behavioral Health and Criminal Justice Services. Within those five areas of service, they run a total of 103 programs and they assist over 50,000 people a year with offices in all five boroughs, Suffolk County, Nassau County and Rockland County.

EAC Network runs the New Path Treatment Center, which is an outpatient clinic located in Hempstead. The center offers a recovery process in a safe and full-service treatment program for individuals with substance abuse disorders.

Approximately 22.7 million Americans need treatment for drug or alcohol-related problems, and many will not seek treatment due to the stigma and shame associated with substance use disorders. The New Path Treatment Center is a place where trained and compassionate counselors work tirelessly to assist people in need. They address not only substance use itself, but all of its contributing factors, including mental health, physical health, family systems, socialization, smoking cessation, legal issues and employment. A personal treatment plan is developed for each individual to address their specific needs.

Sherri Flournoy, Program Director at New Path Treatment Center stated, “In recognizing that recovery

is possible and is a life-long journey, we can help to reduce the stigma of substance use and mental health disorders. Our role at New Path is to assist individuals to achieve and maintain their recovery goals. Our services follow a recovery model whereby participants are encouraged to develop their intrinsic motivation to make healthy lifestyle choices.”

Now in its third year, the Holiday Drive-Thru Experience continues to be one the Parks Departments most popular events, welcoming hundreds of participants who came out

to see the lights and displays and mail their letters to the North Pole. The event also collected hundreds of nonperishable food items that will benefit the Town Food Pantry this holiday season.

If you missed the Holiday Drive-Thru Experience, the displays at Town Hall will be open to the public all season long. The lights come on every evening at dusk, and we invite you

and your family to walk around the grounds at Town Hall and take photos with all of the different holiday scenes. We wish you a wonderful holiday season!

Storm season is here in New York, is your home ready to withstand the elements this year? Make sure that the downspouts to your gutters are pointed away from the foundation of your home and are clear for water to flow through easily. If gutters are not able to keep a constant flow of water away from your home the facia that the gutters are attached to will rot and your gutters may fall off due to the excessive water that is filling them and the weakened fascia that is caused by the excessive water damage. Finally, make sure that all of your windows and doors are able to lock & are air-tight so no water is able to infiltrate through these openings. You may also want to check your window wells if you have them. Make sure that the soil is loose and able to absorb water, so no flooding can occur. Holiday Model Train Exhibit At Old Town Hall

For the first time in two years, the Town of Babylon History Museum is proud to present the annual Holiday Model Train Exhibit at Old Town Hall, 47 W. Main Street in Babylon Village. Each December, the History Museum, and the Babylon

Town Historical Society feature an interactive model train display (240 sq. ft) that highlights historic points of interest from the Town of Babylon.

As we celebrate our 150th anniversary this year, we invite you to bring your kids to Old Town Hall

to see the model train display, which will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until January 1, 2023, from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m. (CLOSED Christmas Day).
