Women volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk during the sixth annual National Women Build Week or those who just want to support the cause can get a head start on learning key construction skills and tips. Lowe’s will host two “how-to” clinics for women in preparation of National Women Build Week, an initiative of Habitat’s Women Build program developed in partnership with Lowe’s. Habitat’s Women Build program empowers women to get actively involved with Habitat’s mission to help families in need of safe, decent and affordable housing. “We are looking forward to National Women Build Week and the opportunity to engage more women in our work,” said Diane Burke, interim president of Habitat Suffolk. “We invite women of all construction levels to join us on the build site and/ or take the clinics hosted by Lowe’s.” The clinics are open to women who are interested in learning key construction
like to support National Women Build Week. Attendees will learn home construction basics and have the opportunity to practice new skills. The clinics will take place at Lowe’s of Medford at 2796 Route 112, Medford on the following dates: How to Install Exterior Siding & How to Install Roofing Shingles May 8th, from 7 to 9 p.m., Registration: $10 *** To sign up for the clinics, participants should contact Stephanie Busia, Habitat Suffolk’s manager of partnerships and communications, at 631.422.4828, ext. 100 or e-mail steph@habitatsuffolk. org. Each clinic is limited to 30 participants. Lowe’s contributed more than $1.75 million to National Women Build Week and provided $5,000 in Lowe’s gift cards to more than 300 participating affiliates. National Women Build Week is one of the major initiatives supported through Lowe’s five-year $20 million pledge to Habitat.
