Saladino Announces Child Car Seat Safety Check

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board, in partnership with the EAC Network, invite residents to a Child Car Seat Safety Check on Tuesday, October 14th , from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Marjorie Post Park (451 Unqua Road, Massapequa). The rain date is scheduled for Wednesday, October 15th.

Every year, countless children are injured or killed in motor vehicle accidents due to improperly installed car seats. National statistics show that as many as 3 out of 4 car seats are not installed correctly - a preventable mistake that can have devastating consequences.

Supervisor Saladino stated, “Motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death for children. Child car seats

are proven to drastically reduce the chance of fatal injuries, but only if installed properly. Our goal is to give parents peace of mind by ensuring their car seats are safe and secure. I encourage every parent and caregiver to take advantage of this free safety check.”

Trained technicians will be on-site to inspect

car seats, provide handson guidance, and ensure each child passenger is riding as safely as possible.

Appointments are required. Call (516) 6246308 today to schedule your spot—spaces fill quickly. Together, we can help keep our community’s children safe.

Highlights of the program include holiday crafts and ceramics.”

The Toddler Arts & Crafts Program begins October 7th and is 6 weeks in duration. Residents who sign their toddler up for the program must choose one class per week, per child. Classes will take place on:

Each class is approximately 45 minutes. The cost of the program is $35 per child who is a Town resident, and $45 per child whose caregiver is a Town resident but not the child. The child’s birth certificate and a tax or utility bill will be required to validate age and proof of residency. A guardian must be present during the class. A smock and supplies will be provided with enrollment. The final day to request a refund for this program will be October 17, 2025.

Receiver Pravato Reminds Residents Of Mortgage Satisfaction Or New Homeowner Notification

Oyster Bay Town Receiver of Taxes

Jeffrey Pravato reminds residential property owners that it is essential to notify his office upon satisfying their mortgage.

In addition, Receiver Pravato encourages residents who recently purchased a home, condominium or coop unit, or recently refinanced, to be sure that notification in writing is sent to Jeffrey P. Pravato, Receiver of Taxes, 74 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, NY 11771-1539 or email receiveroftaxes@ oysterbay-ny.gov.

“This will ensure that tax bills are

received promptly by the homeowner,” said Tax Receiver Pravato.

“A homeowner relying on a bank, attorney, or Nassau County to notify the Tax Office may find there is a delay in billing the homeowner directly, which can lead to the imposition of a late payment penalty.”

“When writing, property owners should include the legal property description, including the school district, section, block, and lot numbers, as well as the name and address to whom tax bills should be directed. In the case of condominiums, the building and unit number

should be noted,” added Tax Receiver Pravato.

Residents may also report their information in person by visiting the Office of the Receiver of Taxes at Town Hall North at 74 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay or Town Hall South at 977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa. Both offices are open daily from 9:00 am to 4:45 pm to assist residents.

Property owners residing in incorporated villages must also notify their village assessor.

Homeowners requiring further assistance should contact the Office of the Receiver of Taxes at (516) 624-6400.

Town Partners With Community Group To Collect Peanut Butter Residents Invited To ‘Spread The Love’ To Help Stock Local Food PantriesV

Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilman Tom Hand announce that the Town will once again partner with the Massapequa Farmingdale Men’s Club to host a Peanut Butter Collection Drive to help replenish local food pantries. Beginning October 1st, residents are invited to donate new, unopened and sealed peanut butter to help support local families in need. Drop-off containers are located at Town Halls North and South, as well as at the Town Ice Skating Center. Alternative butters, including sun butters, almond butters and cookie butters, as well as jelly, are also accepted.

“We are proud to once again partner with this great organization to help ‘spread the love’ and stock local food pantry shelves with this very popular product,” said Supervisor Saladino.

“Peanut butter is among the most highly requested food items at local food banks as it has a long shelf life, provides many nutrients and doesn’t require refrigeration. We thank the Massapequa Farmingdale Men’s Club for again putting our local communities first with this wonderful initiative.”

The Massapequa Farmingdale Men’s Club mission is to provide and encourage involvement in education, charitable and social programs for the men of local communities, and to support the local and wider community with activities and contributions.

Drive will run from October 1st through November 15th. Drop off bins are located during regular business hours at Town Hall North (54 Audrey Ave, Oyster Bay), Town Hall South (977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa) and the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center (1001 Stewart Ave, Bethpage).

“Our organization works tirelessly to help the local and greater community, and we wouldn’t have the success we have without great partners in government like the Town of Oyster Bay,” said Tom Sabellico, president and founder of the Men’s Club. “This very popular food drive is appreciated by many food banks, who have expressed they particularly like peanut butter thanks to it being easy to use, it keeps a long time, provides a variety of nutrients, is high in protection and is enjoyed by all age groups.”

“The Massapequa-Farmingdale Men’s Club has been assisting members of local communities and foodbanks for several years, and we’re thrilled to partner with them on such initiatives,” said Councilman Hand.

PSEG Long Island Reminds Customers: The Best Time To Prepare For Natural Disasters Is Today

With hurricane season entering peak activity, PSEG Long Island reminds customers to prepare ahead of time for disasters and emergencies.

“Natural disasters and other emergencies can disrupt access to goods and services that support our day-to-day lives. Taking the time to prepare and having a plan limits the negative impact an emergency has on your household,” said David Lyons, interim president and COO of PSEG Long Island. “The safety of our employees, customers and contractors has always been PSEG Long Island’s top priority, and we partner with groups like the United Way to help spread the word.”

PSEG Long Island’s ongoing system improvements and enhancements to the grid help provide electric

reliability to Long Island and the Rockaways throughout the year.

Here’s how customers can prepare for a severe storm and other emergencies:

• Ensure you have a battery-powered radio and fresh batteries.

• Check your supply of flashlights, blankets, nonperishable food and bottled water.

• Create an emergency communications plan.

• Develop an evacuation plan.

• Charge your cell phones, tablets and other mobile devices.

• Make sure to have cash available. Banks may be closed or inaccessible after a storm.

• Fill up your vehicle’s fuel tank.

• Bring in unsecured objects and furniture from patios and

balconies.

• Compile a list of emergency phone numbers, including PSEG Long Island’s 24hour Electric Service number: 1-800-4900075.

• Discuss storm and lightning safety with your family. Visit psegliny.com/ safetyandreliability/ stormsafety for safety tips, YouTube safety videos and more.

• Follow PSEG Long Island on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) for updates before, during and after the storm.

• Be aware that downed wires should always be considered “live.” Do not approach or drive over a downed line, and do not touch anything it might be in contact with. If a wire

falls on or near your car, stay inside the car, call 911 and do not get out until PSEG Long Island de-energizes the line. If you MUST exit the vehicle because it is on fire, jump as far as possible away from the vehicle, with both feet landing on the ground at the same time, and hop or shuffle away.

Critical Care Program

PSEG Long Island understands the critical need for power when life-support equipment is in use. While it is the customer’s responsibility to plan ahead to meet their medical needs if the power goes out, eligible customers can receive enhanced notifications by enrolling in the Critical Care Program. When there is severe weather, PSEG Long Island will stay in touch

with these customers and make every effort to restore power as soon as possible. However, there may be circumstances when timely restoration is difficult, particularly in the case of a severe storm, and participation in the Critical Care Program does not guarantee priority power restoration.

Customers can visit https://www.psegliny. com/Outages/Storm PrepandRestoration/ criticalcareprogram to learn more.

Stay connected:

• Download the PSEG Long Island mobile app to report outages and receive information on restoration times, crew locations and more.

• To report an outage and receive status updates via text,

text OUT to PSEGLI (773454) or visit us online at psegliny. com/outages.

• To report an outage or downed wire call PSEG Long Island’s 24hour Electric Service number: 800-4900075.

• Follow PSEG Long Island on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) to report an outage and for updates before, during and after a storm.

• Visit PSEG Long Island’s outage information across Long Island and the Rockaways online at mypowermap.psegliny. com.
