Town Of Babylon Officials Thank Babylon Bocce Club For Exceptional Toys For Tots Donation
Town of Babylon Supervisor and Council
Members issued a heartfelt thank-you to the Babylon Bocce Club for their extremely generous donation to Councilman Terence McSweeney’s annual toy drive in partnership with the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation.
Each year, the club’s
contribution helps ensure that children and families facing hardship are still able to experience the joy of the holiday season.
Councilman McSweeney noted that he is continually “amazed by how much this incredible club can provide for families and children who are less fortunate.”
He praised the group’s unwavering commitment

to giving back, calling their generosity “one of the many things that make the Babylon community so special.”
Town of Babylon Deputy Supervisor and Councilman Tony Martinez also commended the club’s compassion, stating:
“The Babylon Bocce Club sets the standard for what community giving looks

like. Their kindness makes a real difference in the lives of local families.”
Councilman McSweeney, who organizes the Marine Corps Toys for Tots toy drive each year, added:
“Each year, I’m humbled by the Bocce Club’s generosity. Their support ensures that countless children experience the joy of the holiday season.”
Babylon Bocce Club President Santo Crocco expressed pride in his members’ continued dedication to the community, saying:
“Our club has always believed in lifting up our neighbors. If we can help make a child’s holiday brighter, then we’ve done our job. I’m incredibly proud of our members and
the heart they put into this effort every year.”
Town officials thanked the club once again for stepping up in such a meaningful way. Their continued generosity and community spirit remain a shining example of what makes Babylon a strong and caring community.

Happy Holidays In A Year Of Uncertainty, Control What You Can Control
By JoAnn Cilla
The mad dash towards Christmas is on. In As we put up holiday decorations, turn on Christmas music, and send out cards wishing people a joyous and peaceful season, there is still uncertainty in the air trying to dampen the mood. With all the bad news being pushed in front of us on TV, in the papers, and on social media, it’s easy to feel weighed down by the unpredictability of this year. The economy seems to shift weekly, technology is changing faster than ever, and the world continues to deliver surprises… some welcome, some not. Yet amid all this uncertainty, there remains one constant you can control: your mindset.
Too often, we focus on what is outside our control: the economy, family dynamics, business challenges, or the holiday rush. That focus can drain a person! It steals time, peace, and perspective. But

when we shift our attention from worry to appreciation, we change everything.
The circumstances may stay the same, but how we experience them becomes dramatically better. In the last few weeks of 2025, challenge yourself not to react, but to respond. The difference between a reaction and a response is control. A reaction is automatic. A response is intentional. And one of the most intentional responses we can choose is gratitude. When you approach situations, especially difficult ones,
with gratitude, something powerful happens…stress loosens its grip, anxiety diminishes, and your ability to think clearly and move forward actually increases.
Gratitude doesn’t mean ignoring reality or pretending everything is perfect. It means acknowledging what’s good, what’s possible, and what’s still in your control. You can’t control the weather, but you can control how you prepare for it. You can’t control the economy, but you can control your own financial decisions. You can’t control people, but you can control how you treat them and how you let them affect you. That is strength. It is also gratitude in practice.
The world may be unpredictable, but gratitude is not. It shows up when you invite it. It grows when you practice it. And it just might be the most reliable thing you carry into 2026.
And remember, gratitude changes everything!

Presiding
Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces from across Suffolk County were honored for their service and sacrifice during the November 25, 2025, General Meeting of the Suffolk County Legislature. The Legislature proudly noted that Suffolk County is home to the largest population of veterans in New York State and has one of the largest veteran populations of any county in the United States.
“Today’s recognition of our veterans is the least we can do for their vital role in protecting our freedom and liberty,” said Presiding Officer Kevin J. McCaffrey. “My colleagues and I are proud to celebrate the inspiring commitment of these men and women who have significantly contributed to their communities as well as our Nation. By publicly commemorating their achievements, Suffolk County reaffirms its gratitude and respect for those who have served in the Armed Forces, ensuring that their stories and sacrifices remain a lasting part of our County’s and our Nation’s legacy.
“From my district, I am pleased to be able to honor Paul Buffa, Sr., who enlisted in the United States Navy and was assigned to the USS Independence out of Norfolk, Virginia,
There’s No Place Like Home for the Holidays
To our friends, neighbors, clients, and fellow business owners, Thank you for making Lindenhurst such a special place to live, work, and grow. This season may your homes be filled with warmth, your families with laughter, and your new year with endless possibilities and peace. It has been our honor to help so many of you open new doors in 2025. We look forward to continuing our journeys together in the coming year.
With our deepest appreciation and gratitude,

as a Quartermaster. Paul deployed several times during his active duty, including when the USS Independence sailed to the Mediterranean to assist with NATO exercises and in 1962 when the Independence acted as a key participant in the US Naval blockade of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Paul was honorably discharged in 1966 at the rank of E-4. He received the Expeditionary, National Defense Service, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medals.”
“After a 38-year-long career, Paul proudly retired from Citigroup’s General Services Department. He remains an active member of the community, serving as 1st Vice Commander of Post 1634 of the
American Legion - where he has been a member for 45 years, and as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Sons of Italy,” McCaffrey noted. Paul Buffa, Sr., was born to immigrant parents from Italy. He grew up in Brooklyn, and in 1965, he met and married his wife, Camille. They would move to Babylon Township and raise their four children.
As the Suffolk County Legislature’s Presiding Officer, Legislator Kevin J. McCaffrey represents Suffolk County’s 14th Legislative District, which encompasses the Villages of Lindenhurst and Babylon, West Babylon, portions of Copiague and North Lindenhurst, and Babylon’s barrier beach communities.
