Lifelong Long Islander Obliterates World Record

Lifelong Long Islander and former global esports champion, Doug Censor Martin, shattered the world record for most pull-ups in a 24-hour time period by completing 8,941 pullups in nineteen hours and three minutes – beating the previous record by almost five hours. Martin completed the challenge with a total of 9,250 pull-ups with three hours and thirtysix minutes remaining on the 24-hour clock.

Martin not only beat the previous record of 8,940 pullups by Kenta Adachi of Japan for the 24-hour record, but also surpassed the twelvehour world record of 5,742 pull-ups by two hours.

Martin’s successful planning regimen required a comprehensive approach to nutrition, pull-up pacing strategy and physical and mental training. The new world record equates

to Martin completing approximately:

• 470.5 pull-ups per hour

• 7.8 pull-ups per minute

• 1 pull-up every 7.7 seconds

The event, more than a year in the making through intense physical and mental preparation, took place in Farmingdale at 1 More Rep Athletics & Fitness. Martin battled sleep deprivation, a bicep strain and badly blistered and bruised hands to break the world record.

A former world record holder, Jaxon Italiano, served as Martin’s coach and flew from Australia to personally witness the record-breaking attempt, along with aroundthe-clock support from Martin’s family, friends and fans.

FITTEAM was the sponsor of Martin’s world record challenge, which also served

as fundraiser for Project Purple to help find a cure for pancreatic cancer. Martin’s grandmother, who left an indelible impact on his life, succumbed to pancreatic when he was only 12 years old. The challenge has raised almost $9,000.

Martin, an Amityville resident and formerly from

Lindenhurst and Copiague, is the former world esports champion and a global influencer with more than one million followers.

“Achieving the world record is surreal,” said Martin. “I’ve always believed in pushing myself to the limit, whether it’s in gaming or in life. This world

record is not just about personal achievement but about helping bring more awareness about pancreatic cancer, which took the life of my grandmother. I appreciate the humbling support and assistance from so many people, which made this longtime dream become a reality.”

FITTEAM, a leader in the health and fitness industry, sponsored the event and provided the logistical support, Guiness World Record compliance documentation and live video coverage of the entire 24-hour challenge, allowing fans and supporters to follow every moment of Martin’s historical accomplishment. Video coverage of the world record challenge can be viewed on YouTube channel@FitteamGlobal.

“We are thrilled to have supported Doug’s truly incredible accomplishment,” said FITTEAM Founder and CEO Chris Hummel. “Doug’s determination and resilience are truly inspiring. His amazing feat brings muchneeded attention to the fight against pancreatic cancer. We are honored to have been part of this successful journey with him.”

the bus or walking, elementary students were ready to learn as they navigated their school buildings with their backpacks filled with supplies.

Students were all smiles exiting the buses as they headed to the first day of school on Sept. 4 in Copiague School District.

At Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School and Copiague Middle School, students familiarized themselves with their new schedules and reconnected with

classmates. The incoming sixth grade and ninth grade students had the chance to walk through their schedules and test out their lockers prior to the first day during their respective orientations. By day’s end, students had settled into their new routines and were looking forward to the year ahead.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month

AFSP-LI Is Leading The Fight For Suicide Awareness And Prevention Here On Long Island

September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a moment that serves as a powerful reminder that there are steps we all must take in looking out for loved ones, the people in our community, and those who have been impacted by this leading cause of death. Suicide continues to be an urgent public health matter with nearly 50,000

people dying by suicide and 1.6 million people attempting suicide in the United States in 2022 (the most current data available).

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, a leader in this work, invites the public to join our growing movement and take action to save lives during this

awareness month and beyond. It’s time to take one big step together.

Since 2002, millions of people have attended the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s OUT OF THE DARKNESS COMMUNITY WALKS in communities across the country, raising awareness and funds that go toward education programs,

advocacy efforts, and scientific research that reveals how we can save more lives.

By walking with others, we find comfort in knowing we are not alone, and that we are connected through great purpose to healing and support. So join us – as parents, neighbors, family members, classmates and colleagues – at our

two Out of the Darkness Community Walks on Long Island, as we all take a step in the right direction: towards HOPE.

Our Out of the Darkness East End Long Island Community Walk will be held on Sunday, September 22nd, beginning at 10:00 am in Smith Point County Park in Shirley. You can find out more information

L.E.B. Electric Donates 240 Backpacks To Local Organizations 240

Kids Going Back To School In Style

L.E.B. ELECTRIC DONATES 240 BACKPACKS - A recent donation by Amityville based L.E.B Electric helped two local community outreach programs send 240 children back to school in style with brand new backpacks.

A recent donation by Amityville based L.E.B Electric helped two local community outreach programs send 240 children back to school in style with brand new backpacks.

L.E.B. Electric ordered and delivered 48 backpacks to the Copiague Library Back to School Drive, where grade school children will come and “shop” for their school supply list with an assigned helper, a task which gives the child a feeling of self-pride

and ownership, which in turn helps foster a young child’s love of school.

Another 192 backpacks were delivered to Pronto, Long Island, a community outreach center in Bayshore, where over 1,200 students of all ages from across the Island signed up to receive the backpacks donated by L.E.B.. Sometimes it is just the little things, like a brand-new backpack, that can help a child maintain a positive outlook and have a

successful school year.

L.E.B. Electric President William Parker says that the company is proud to give back to the community and particularly to students of all ages… “These kids are our future, I’m happy to help them set off to school on the right foot!”

About L.E.B Electric

Founded in 1986, L.E.B Electric is Long Island’s premier electrical contractor. Fully licensed and insured,

The Autumnal Equinox

the company has worked on thousands of electrical related projects ranging from public works to healthcare facilities, office buildings, stadiums, arenas, industrial warehouses, schools and multifamily buildings. They have a robust low voltage and maintenance division serving Long Island businesses of all sizes. To learn more please visit www.lebelectric.com

Each September, the Northern Hemisphere experiences the autumnal equinox, which marks the official beginning of fall. In the Southern Hemisphere, spring is arriving at this time. Each year there are two equinoxes, the vernal and

the autumnal (March and September, respectively). Shortly after the autumnal equinox, days begin getting shorter and the nights get longer. The word equinox is from the Latin “aequi,” meaning “equal,” and “nox” or “night.”

That means that during each equinox the hours of day and night are nearly equal in length across the planet. During the equinox, the part of the Earth that is closest to the sun is the equator, explains History.com. That helps make night and day

equal in length. The fall equinox and the first day of autumn arrives on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 08:44 A.M. EDT in the Northern Hemisphere. The equinox occurs at the same moment worldwide.
