Neev is an ecosystem of learning and growth where we want learners to become Self-directed, Disciplinary Thinkers, Communicators, Collaborators, Culturally Conscious and Community oriented, as they discover passions and strengths through interdisciplinary learning, travel across India, field trips and inspiring speakers, intra and inter school sports, arts, literary and cultural events, service, internships, and diverse academic choices. Student initiatives in leadership, service, inclusion, reading, writing, arts and sports, drives our school culture and upholds values. We nurture reading as an essential habit for lifelong learning. Our unique parent community of entrepreneurs, change-makers and risk-takers, educated at leading universities in India and abroad and with global work experience value, support and partner in the progressive learning Neev’s vision delivers. Impact beyond our walls leads to Neev hosting the largest children’s literature festival, a book award set up to recognise great children’s literature from India, and our upcoming Teacher Training Institute for education reform. As Bangalore’s only city center IB school our 15 acre verdant campus is located to not only avoid long commutes that can be a tradeoff in a rapidly urbanising India, but to be a vibrant learning culture driven by community interaction, and conveniently hosting inter school events. Our International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is new, but our second cohort of IBDP graduates' results have already matched and even surpassed older and more established school.

Supported languages in school
Schools across India shifted to online learning in March 2020. Neev's initial IBDP cohorts, with mostly new students, graduated online. Many DP teachers, also new to the school were brought together by our community culture to achieve great learning and results managing labs rotationally, curriculum completion online with no learning loss, and completing all coursework on time. Highschool students continued student government and service initiatives, four issues of the school newspaper, sports day and other creative events online. Our literature festival went online with the book award and offered a new 'Reading Challenge' for middle grades in schools across the country. We completed two NEASC visits online, and received accreditation with commendations for teachers' commitment, collaboration, capability and competence, students' transfer skills across cognitive, social and ethical domains, and the schools learning culture and relationships. .

HIGH SCHOOL SUBJECTS

ASSESSMENT AND GRADING
Report cards on academic and pastoral aspects are issued at the end of term 1 and term 2 in Grade 11 and at the end of term 1, the mock examinations, in Grade 12. Two Grades Are Awarded:
an achievement grade which is formed from a combination of continuous summative assessment (40%) during the term and the end-of-term examination (60%).
an effort grade which is based on formative tasks and non academic parameters such as academic honesty, independent work, self-management, communication, creativity, class participation and collaboration.
A grade scale from 1 to 7 (seven being the highest), is used to report achievement grades, while a grade scale A to D (A being the highest) is used to report effort grades.
Predicted grades are raised twice in the students’ final year -- once between October and December, when applying to universities and then near the end of the DP in March. These predictions are based on a student’s body of work matched to overall subject grade descriptors. There is a very close correlation between our predicted grades and the final diploma programme results. In the last examination session 100% of our final predictions were accurate to +/- 1 point.
THE DP CORE Theory of Knowledge (ToK)
*Physical Education is a compulsory activity for all high schools
DP HIGHLIGHTS

Neev has a successful ToK course with several students obtaining the highest grade. In May 2021, 50% of the class obtained grade A, and approximately 45% obtained grade B. IDEAS@NEEV is a lecture series we began with leading industrialists, entrepreneurs, historians, artists, writers. This led to us our first TOK symposium in January 2021, for a week of sessions by eminent from science, visual art, language and math; this was interspersed by DP students sharing their growing understanding with the community, and finally led to the TOK exhibition in April 2021, with the enrichment evident in student presentations, which had complex ideas made simple through analysis.
The Extended Essay (EE)

EE at Neev aims to develop students’ research capability by allowing them to go through all steps of research, beginning with exploration and a literature review to a viva voce for reflection on the entire process. Our students have chosen interesting EE topics across subject groups, ranging from literature (analysing the language in a 1000 page cookbook, comparative studies across genres besides individual piece analysis), math (analysing shorelines), and world studies (language learning, maternal care) besides the more typical ones in Physics, Economics, and Business Management. We see a growing maturity in the choices our DP students are making for their research interests.
Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS)
All three strands of CAS are equally important at Neev and are expected to be demonstrated across the two years of the DP. Creativity gives students the opportunity to take an idea and develop it into an original product; activity ensures that students develop a healthy lifestyle through physical exercise and exertion; service brings students together with the community around them in response to an authentic need. A few CAS projects created by Neev students often combine more than one CAS strand leading to engagement at several levels of personal and interpersonal learning. A few of the ‘named’ CAS projects are:
Griseo helps teenagers cope with stress through webinars and articles. The Joyful Peach curates positive news and aims to spread positivity in the community. Amarte - Art while apart art sessions for people to destress. Susteniri sustainability education through workshops and expert talks. F&F help center video guides for teachers on Zoom, Google Drive & Windows 10. Sole Warriors Shodding migrant worker communities with recycled footwear. Macha’s Bakery Bakes and sells cookies and cakes for migrant worker support
Many initiatives are unnamed but work towards education, COVID care fundraising and more. Some are award winning individual projects others are collaborations, often across grades.
Assessing the core
Theory of Knowledge and the extended essay are assessed, while CAS is not formally assessed but it is necessary to meet all requirements for the award of the diploma. the grade obtained in ToK (A-E) and in the EE (A-E) combine to give each student a maximum of three points. These points are referred to as core points
EXTRA CURRICULAR & SERVICES
Student Advancement Cell (SAC)

SAC provides support & growth opportunities as a service to our students. They track a student's academic and personal development from Grade 1 to Grade 12. The diverse verticals in it include - Learning Support and Enrichment, Behavioral Counselling, Career & College Counselling and Student Life.
Student Life
Neev Academy believes in the process of learning by doing. By engaging students in hands-on experiences and reflection, they are better able to connect theories and knowledge learned in the classroom to real-world situations. In addition, Neev offers a variety of interest and choice activities during and after school hours to build strong school teams and develop a culture of sports, music, drama, writing and debate. The student government at Neev, has a range of representation through all grade levels ensuring that students actively experience the working of a democracy. Leaders range from the President at the top to the House captains, vice captains, class representatives, class CAS representatives giving a fairly good representation of all the sections of the student body in the school. There is also a programming coordinator and a student led newspaper - Neev Times.
Learning Journeys
Neev thinks global and acts local in keeping with the IB philosophy. Our field trips focus locally in India where we ensure that our students get relevant opportunities for immersion in the traditions and culture of a diverse country. Learning journeys are embedded into curriculum, begin Grade 4, grow progressively from 4 days to two weeks, allowing students to understand the grandeur and reality of India; from Hampi in the south to Ladakh and Rajasthan in the North, and from Gujarat and Maharashtra in the west to Nagaland, Assam and Meghalaya in the east. The Grade 11 students travel to Dhule, one of the poorest districts of India to enhance their social and civic sense and also to Northeast India, a cultural and biodiversity hotspot, trekking to and exploring regional identities and indigenous knowledge systems developed over centuries.
Academic Writing

DP students write extensively and intensively for core academic work and university applications. The writing capability they develop is one of the reasons why DP is considered to be university prep. Academic writing workshops lay a foundation in middle years and build it up through the years, helping students analyse, think critically and focus on technique and style. Understanding writing imperatives makes it easier for growing learners to write papers and essays moving forward, which they exercise through academic work, research and writing oriented internships and passion led research papers across learning areas.

Reading Initiative
Neev strives to build a strong foundational love for books, and grow that love over time. Our unique Reading team introduces st great books using a calendar of genres and concepts. The team works with teachers to build literature into units of study to broaden perspectives. These efforts are amplified with the Neev Literature Festival (NLF), the Neev Book Award (NBA), and the NLF Reading Challenge, to spread the love for reading with a wider community.
Internship Opportunities
Over the last 3 years our students have got opportunities to intern at various organisations in their areas of interest from the likes of Takshashila Institute and IDFC Foundation for the students interested in Public Policy to Mahindra Aerospace for the students who were interested in mechanical engineering. Some other organisations include - Investment firms FinTech Capital and HSBC, Research companies IBM and Frolle to advertising firms JWT and Dentsu Mcgarry Bowen
