Transforming Spaces using Greens

Transforming Spaces using Greens
It has been a year since we started spending most of our time at home, re-connecting with oursleves and our loved ones. During this short period nature had been set free, open to grow, flourish and expand without prior constraints set by humans. We saw animals and plants taking the world back, in what was period of healing for our Planet
It was during this time spent at home, I realised my negligence to the flora around me. This could be a wake up call to take a step towards bringing back the rooted connection we have with nature. A small scale project was at hand to bring plants into the house. Starting with one plant in my room, there was a fear of killing the plant by under/ over watering it. The pothos grew well and sat happily near the window.
The room has opening on 2 sides with brings in ample amount of direct and indirect light for the plants. The inital thought was to place all the plants at the south window. The plants really seemed to like it there. Soon enough there were multiple varieties of plants in the room. There was a need to create a system to keep and grow all these plants.
The second opening in the room was placed in the bath for ventilation and light. This opening is on the eastern facade of the house and draw in plenty of morning light. The place seemed perfect for the plants to grow. Shelves were needed to place the plants near the window. Wood was the material to match the existing doors and windows of the house.
Three shelves were made using a simple tongue and groove joinery. The shelves were made to the dimensions of the pots and their plates. Each shelf is 27in x 6in x 2in in size. The moment of happiness was seeing all the plants being placed comfortably in the space.
This small patch of green added life to and a certain amount of joy to the bath.
