This quarter, we have elected our new political leaders. While there will also be changes in RDC leadership and composition in the coming quarter, RDC XII will continue to push for positive changes in the Region as exemplified in the passage of the 34 resolutions during its 77th Regular Meeting. Here are three of these:
RDC XII Resolution No. 48, s. of 2022 Endorsing the Establishment of Center for Medical Research and Health Care Facility at the University of Southern Mindanao The House Committee on Higher and Technical Education approved House Bill 8247 in January 2021, which enabled the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) to open a Doctor of Medicine program starting Academic Year 2021-2022 and which was also given due clearance by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). In compliance with the need for a research and academic investigatory arm, and at the same time, a primary training hospital for the students of its College of Medicine, and possibly students from other academic institutions offering medical programs, the USM proposed for the establishment of a Center for Medical Research and Health Care Facility. The proposed Center would also serve as an important health care refuge for patients with complex illnesses and also the elderly people of Region XII, as well as that of the adjacent region, such as the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
RDC XII Resolution No. 50, s. of 2022 Creating an Ad Hoc Technical Working Group (TWG) Under RDC- Economic Development Committee (EDC) XII to Prepare the Regional Start-up Development Program The Ad Hoc TWG under EDC XII is critical in harmonizing the startup development efforts in the region, particularly in the key sectors of tourism, agriculture and fishery, health products and e-services. The Regional Start Up program aims to provide a conducive environment for Technology Business Incubators (TBIs) , accelerators, and innovation centers, and increase the number of intellectual property assets generated including creative goods and services for a more innovative and competitive economy in Region 12.
RDC XII Resolution No. 62, s. of 2022 Supporting the Establishment of a Metals Engineering Innovation Center (MEIC) in Region XII The Metals Engineering Innovation Center (MEIC) is a facility that will enable the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) to design and fabricate machinery and equipment, supporting the requirements of agricultural and industrial companies in the regions. Faculty and students, including Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) can use this facility.
