Gender Based Violence is one of the most prevalent human rights violations in the world and the purpose of Shared Value Africa Gender Equality Unit is to support, collaborate and assist public and private sector with the acceleration of Gender Equality to reduce Gender Based Violence.

We offer a comprehensive approach to combating workplace violence and harassment (WVH) and building respectful workplaces through training, research, and customised consulting services.

This brochure outlines programs designed to empower leadership and equip organisations with the knowledge and skills necessary to create safe and inclusive work environments for all employees.

ABOUT US

Founded on Africa Day in 2018, Shared Value Africa (SVA) is a Pan-African non-profit that is dedicated to fostering sustainable economic growth and social development across the continent.

Through our gender equality unit, we combine advocacy, research, and training to empower leaders and organisations.

We offer a proven track record, having partnered with the University of Johannesburg and KPMG on impactful research (i.e., "The Costly Impact of GBV") and the International Finance Corporation to develop the Respect@Work program for the South African private sector.

Our expertise equips both public and private entities with the knowledge and tools to create safe, inclusive work environments, fostering gender equality and a thriving Africa.

EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP INFORMATION SESSION PROGRAMS

A focused 2-hour leadership workshop designed to empower CEOs with the awareness and knowledge necessary to champion respectful workplaces and reduce organisational risk. Practical steps will be shared with leaders to champion a culture of respect, inclusion, and equity within their organisations.

Session objectives:

Gain insight into various forms of workplace violence and harassment.

Discuss the business case for proactive measures against workplace violence and harassment, highlighting both the financial and social advantages.

Explore the role of leadership in setting the tone and creating a respectful work environment.

Equip leaders with the necessary information to effectively address and resolve challenges as they arise.

Understand Employer Obligations under ILO Convention C190 and SA Code of Good Practice.

TRAIN-THE-TRAINER PROGRAM

A 5-day intensive program equipping designated participants from an organisation with the skills and resources to develop and implement effective Workplace Violence & Harassment prevention, intervention, and resolution strategies within their organisations. The intention is to train selected individuals from various operational departments that can then implement the learnings internally to create a respectful and safe workplace for all.

Session objectives:

Gain a thorough understanding of workplace violence and harassment, including global best practices and South African legal considerations.

Develop the skills to create and implement comprehensive Workplace Violence & Harassment policies and procedures.

Learn effective intervention and reporting techniques.

Build capacity to deliver engaging and impactful Workplace Violence & Harassment prevention training.

Cost

R 2,500 per person, per day for the 5-day program Minimum 10 delegates

Who Should Attend?

This session is designed for all leaders overseeing Human Resources, People Management, DEI, Employee Relations, Legal Compliance and Employee Representatives.

Five days of interactive training delivered by experienced SVA facilitators and customised to address the organisation's specific needs and context.

Comprehensive training materials: All participant materials, including manuals, presentations, and case studies.

Comprehensive resource package for post-training implementation, including facilitator guides, participant handouts, and templates.

Skills assessment on the final day to evaluate participant learning outcomes.

Venue - we can deliver the program at your preferred location within South Africa. Please note that any additional venue costs associated with an in-person program will be quoted separately (venue hire, meals, and refreshments, logistics, management).

EMPLOYEE AWARENESS SESSION:

BUILDING RESPECTFUL WORKPLACES

This 2-hour interactive session will equip employees with the knowledge and tools to identify, prevent, and respond to workplace violence and harassment. By fostering a culture of respect and understanding, organisations can create a safer, more productive work environment for everyone.

Session objectives:

Define what constitutes a respectful workplace and the various forms of workplace violence & harassment.

Distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable workplace behaviours.

Understand the effect and impact of bullying, harassment, power dynamics and biases on individuals and organisations.

Recognise the role of bystanders in preventing workplace violence & harassment.

Explore multiple reporting channels for addressing concerns.
