We are a leader in Catholic education through innovation and visionary focus and constant examination of best practices.
We instill a strong spiritual foundation among our students in order to discern vocation using the God-given talents through a rigorous, multifaceted program of study
We promote high academic standards to form future problem solvers engaged in critical and creative thinking, who are able to collaborate and utilize diverse means of education and evaluate the moral implications of their decisions.
We uphold the virtues of fortitude, selflessness, sacrifice, self-mastery, integrity, strength, tenacity, humility, charity, courage and loyalty through peer support, accountability and love.
We provide an environment allowing students to feel safe, loved and validated in their physical and social-emotional development knowing they are supported across the community
We develop the whole person by creating a culture of active participation through a variety of cocurricular and athletic activities that enhance creativity, leadership, passion, teamwork and physical health.
We partner with families to educate students in the Catholic faith, so they know their identity in Christ and their unique call to holiness
We foster an environment where students can encounter Christ through the Sacraments of the Church, prayer, retreats and opportunities for lifelong servant leadership
We encourage and invite students to become transformational Christian leaders who support faith, patriotism and moral values so that they may choose what is good, true and beautiful with ease and clarity
NDP graduates should leave our school having learned, embraced and embodied our Integral Student Outcomes (ISOs).

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year. We are grateful that you have decided to join our Community of Saints, where we live by the pillars of Reverence, Respect and Responsibility!
Each year we produce Saints 101 as your “bible” for all things NDP-related
This booklet is a valuable resource where you can find information about school policies and personnel quickly and easily.
This book will:
Introduce you to our school leadership. Provide you with need-to-know phone numbers
Explain a few updates to our school policies and dress code
Highlight our academics, school culture and the many ways students and parents can get involved
At the back of the book, there is a list of important dates so that you can mark your calendar in advance. Please note that from time to time it is necessary to change the date of an event, so it is good practice to visit our school calendar regularly for the most up-to-date information. The online calendar can be found at ndpsaints.org/calendar.
When we make changes or have news to share, we will inform you in a timely manner using our website, social media, newsletters, text messages and emails. Be sure to read all our communications so that you stay informed.
When you visit our website, you will find that some pages are geared to prospective families, while others were designed with you in mind. Most of the information for current families can be found under MyNDP or Quicklinks
It’s going to be a fantastic school year!

Our attendance policy has been updated for the new school year Please take note and read the entire policy in our parent/student handbook.
The state of Arizona requires by law [ARS 15-803(B)] that all students attend school 90% of the school year Students who miss 10% or more of classes may jeopardize earning credit in each class in which they have excessive absences
Please familiarize yourself with the entire attendance policy and make note of the procedures in the following areas:
A parent or legal guardian must fill out the online attendance form prior to the student’s arrival for students arriving late ndpsaints.org/attendance.
For students leaving school early, a parent or legal guardian must fill out the online attendance form www.ndpsaints.org/attendance. Students may NOT leave school with anyone other than their parents without written permission from the student’s parent or legal guardian. Liturgies are an important part of life at Notre Dame Preparatory and a requirement for all students. Absences from Mass will need to be submitted directly to the Principal, and will rarely be approved.

Our primary purpose as an educational institution is academics. Students must be in good academic and disciplinary standing to participate in any cocurricular activities at Notre Dame Preparatory. Students are ineligible if they have earned one F or two Ds. The first eligibility report will be pulled 6 weeks after the beginning of the semester and will then be pulled weekly. Students will be ineligible for a period of 7 days. They will be allowed to attend athletic practices, but will not be able to compete in games during the window of ineligibility. Those involved with the arts, can rehearse, but will not be allowed to perform if ineligible. Please see the Student/Parent Handbook for more details at www.ndpsaints.org/handbook.
Fostering responsibility in our students and keeping the campus safe are essential to our mission Students should come to school fully prepared for the day. It is the student's responsibility to remember all needed items. The front office will not accept any dropped-off items This includes food, beverages, technology, and homework. Please do not try to bypass this policy as learning from mistakes is an essential part of high school.
The Diocesan Code of Discipline directs that “Parents or legal guardians are expected to support teachers and administrators and to recognize that disciplinary action entails the exercise of judgment, often under pressing circumstances ” (Diocesan Handbook 3-1 4 17 C 4) Serious consideration is given to every disciplinary action taken.
We recognize parents as the primary educators of their children Notre Dame Preparatory needs, expects and requires honest and consistent cooperation to implement the spirit as well as the letter of the Student/Parent Handbook’s guidelines and rules
We ask that our students and parents act with Reverence, Respect, and Responsibility.
If a student misbehaves, disciplinary action will be taken. Please reference the Student/Parent Handbook for more details at ndpsaints org/handbook
If, in the opinion of the principal, either a student’s or a parent’s/guardian’s actions, attitudes, or behavior are found in conflict with the school’s mission, policies or any specific directive of the administration or if parents/guardians or students fail to cooperate and comply with Notre Dame Prep's disciplinary policy or practice, the student may be barred from continued enrollment at Notre Dame Preparatory.
In the event of illness or injury while at school, students MUST report to the nurse's office for evaluation.
The nurse will determine the condition and disposition of the student and decide if the student should go home or stay at school.
The nurse, not the student, will contact the parents regarding a student’s health. No student may use his/her cell phone to request a pick-up. All arrangements must go through the school nurse.
A documented immunization record is required by Arizona Law for all students attending school. No student will be permitted to begin classes until this requirement is met.
The nurse is not permitted to administer any medication to students without written authorization from the parent/guardian. This includes acetaminophen, ibuprofen, Tums, cough drops and antibiotic creams.
Diocese policy prohibits the nurse from providing or dispensing any medications without written permission from the student's parent or guardian. Medications must be brought to the nurse's office in the original sealed and labeled container. All medication must be accompanied by a signed Medication Form in order for medication of any kind to be administered by a school nurse. A new form must be completed and signed each school year.

BECOMING AN EXPERT
is a required course at NDP for all first-year students who have been diagnosed with specific learning disabilities. After evaluating a student's progress over his or her first semester attending NDP, each student will be reassessed to see if the class will be needed for the following semester. This class helps students learn study skills, time management, organization, self-advocacy, and goal setting. These students also receive academic support through mini-lessons and one-on-one advising.
After school, teachers are available until 3:30 p.m. on regular block schedule days to assist students seeking help with their studies. Please check each teacher’s Canvas page for their specific availability. Twice a week, teachers are also available during WIN Time, which is a designated time during the school day for students to work with teachers for additional help and practice.
We hold one parent-teacher-student conference night on campus each year in the fall. The conferences will be held by teacher invitation specifically for those students who need some intervention, support, or a plan for improvement. Students will be required to accompany their parents to the conferences. More details will be made available about these conferences in late August. For those parents who wish to meet, teachers are always available by phone, email or appointment. Access the faculty directory at ndpsaints.org/myndp/staffdirectory

3. The Weekly Saints News Newsletter 4. Parent Club NewslettersCommunication is a two-way street. There is an important partnership between parents, students and the faculty, staff and administration at NDP. As a community of Saints, we must have an open and respectful dialogue to solve conflicts if they arise. To do so, we have set the following chains of communication to help resolve issues with reverence, respect and responsibility.
Should a concern arise in the classroom or with a student’s grades the following procedure should be followed:
To help students build self-advocacy skills, the first line of communication should always begin between the student and the teacher.
After the student has communicated with the teacher, then the parents can contact the teacher directly via email if necessary. Faculty information is available at ndpsaints.org/myndp/staff-directory.
If the issue remains unresolved, the parent should then communicate his/her concern with the department chair or student's counselor.
Parents should only contact the Assistant Principal of Learning Services if the chain of communication has been exhausted.
Should a concern arise during an athletic season, House or club event, the following procedure should be followed:
To help students and student-athletes build self-advocacy skills, the first line of communication should always begin between the student and the coach, Head of House or club moderator.
After the student has communicated with the coach, Head of House or moderator, then the parents can contact them directly via email if necessary.
If the issue remains unresolved, the parent should then communicate his/her concern with the Athletic Director or Coordinator of Student Activities or Coordinator of House and Retreats.
Parents should only contact the Principal if the chain of communication has been exhausted.
The following online tools are available to our parents and students in the parent and student portals on our website under the myNDP tab.

For the past two years, I have had the privilege of working with young students in theology classes at San Francisco de Asis School in Flagstaff. As the parochial vicar there, I discovered that I LOVE teaching and establishing a relationship as the spiritual father to so many bright elementary and middle school students.
From the moment I arrived in Flagstaff, I knew that one day I wanted to work as a Chaplain at the high school level. I didn’t realize that day would come so quickly! I am excited to continue the work started by my predecessors, Fr. Kurt Perera and Fr. Clement Attah.
The Lord is sending me to Notre Dame Prep and to my alma mater Seton Prep where I will serve as Chaplain to nearly 2,000 students starting in 2023-24, and I am grateful for this opportunity. I do have ties to Notre Dame Prep as a visiting member of the first Kairos team when NDP was just starting its Kairos program.
When I was a student at Seton, I attended a Kairos retreat as a candidate and then again as the rector. Our school Chaplain at the time was Fr. Will Schmid (who was my boss for the past two years in Flagstaff). Both Fr. Will and my Kairos experiences were instrumental in my becoming a priest. Now my life seems to have come full circle and I am excited for the chance to give back to the ministry that set the stage for my life.
Teaching reverence, respect and responsibility are wonderful virtues to gauge growth and gratitude. If I can help guide students in those three pillars, and see the divine beauty in the world around us, then my time at NDP will be well spent and more exciting than I could ever imagine.
I cannot wait to meet the NDP “Community of Saints,” and form lasting bonds with each of you.
Blessings to you all,
Fr. Ian Wintering Notre Dame Prep, ChaplainEngaging Prayer & Worship - NDP is actively engaged in prayer and worship every single day. We celebrate Mass, pray together as a school, and observe a daily student-led Examen. We celebrate the seasons and devotions that add so much richness to our faith. We bring our gifts and talents in music and the arts to draw one another deeper into God’s beauty.
Passionate Christian Service - Every student at NDP is actively engaged in serving others. Our Christian Service Learning program is an important graduation requirement that is designed to connect our students’ passions with their God given gifts. We provide many opportunities for students to serve and encourage them to create their own events and projects to change the world.
Meaningful Campus Ministry - NDP responds to the call of Pope Francis to be a Church of accompaniment. We engage in small group Bible Studies and discussions. We form students for the sacraments and celebrate them together.
If you have any special intentions or prayer requests, we are here for you! Your prayer request is a sacred trust and kept confidential. To request prayer or Mass intention, visit ndpsaints.org/faith
discipleship, and opportunities for growth and leadership.
Guided by the Coordinator of House and Retreats, students develop leadership skills to become the best versions of themselves while living authentic lives that are true to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The purpose of the House System is to ensure that every student and adult on our campus has a community who cares and holds them accountable to be the person God created them to be. The goals are to find and foster the brilliance in each student and to give each soul on campus a place where they are embraced by their fellow House members while building deeper relationships with Jesus Christ and each other.
At Notre Dame Prep, we seek to educate the whole student; mind, body and soul. The House System allows students to be recognized for more than GPA or athletic achievements. Within their House, students' talents are explored and nurtured by a builtin support system.
Each House consists of smaller groups called Families. House time/formation occurs twice a week where students meet in their families for authentic interpersonal interaction and fellowship.
The Houses compete for the coveted House Cup each year by earning House Points through academics, Christian service and school spirit while showing Reverence, Respect and Responsibility toward each other. Students can earn House points by attending Marquee Events (ME) and participating in our charity service drives.
Welcome to the House System where every student belongs to a family, a House and the NDP Community of Saints.
Congratulations to St. Ignatius House, the 2022-23 House Cup winner!

We offer more than 30 student-led clubs at NDP for students who have hobbies beyond athletics and academics. From the Adventure Club and E-Sports to Baking Club and PAWS Club; there is something for everyone!
Students are encouraged to join a club early as a way to make friends who share their passions and interests. If a club of interest does not exist, students are able to create one with other like-minded individuals.
Dog Pound Student Council members are elected student leaders who are responsible for planning student activities, dances and for igniting school spirit at athletic events and around campus. The Dog Pound Student Council will be charged with specifically developing and implementing plans for dances, pep rallies and the effective and appropriate running of our student spirit section.
The Coordinator of Student Activities, oversees both the Dog Pound Student Council and Clubs.
The Notre Dame Preparatory athletic programs are an integral part of the fabric of the NDP community with more than 80% of students participating in AIA or club sports. NDP competes locally, regionally and nationally in 27 interscholastic sports and activities. We are very proud of our athletic tradition and success, winning 58 state championships –most recently in Boys Discus and Girls Tennis Doubles. Our commitment is to provide young men and women with dynamic opportunities for personal growth and formation through athletics that will impact each of them for a lifetime.
For more information about our athletics programs including our Athlete Handbook, facility locations and our statement on sportsmanship, go to ndpsaints.org/athletics
To participate in sports during the 2023-24 school year, all athletes must register online to be cleared and approved before the first tryout or practice. The NDP Athletic Department uses the secure registration platform, FinalForms, which provides our families with a safe, easy and user-friendly way to register for Notre Dame Prep athletics. All students must upload a new physical form (performed after 3/1/23), while new and transfer students must also complete the Brainbook and Opioid Course and upload the completed certificate.

Traditional Catholic education is special. Our students are taught to be giving servant leaders with exceptional minds. We help instill in them the ability to think critically and solve problems creatively.
We want Notre Dame Preparatory to be accessible to anyone who wants a Catholic, innovative education. Therefore, tuition does not fully cover the cost of educating each student.
Our advancement team works hard to raise the money necessary to close the gap between tuition and the actual cost of teaching each NDP student. We host a variety of events to build relationships and generate revenue streams. This helps take our students’ experience to the next level.
NDP Fund is our top fundraising priority and runs annually from July 1 - June 30. Dollars raised through the NDP Fund campaign allow us to tackle the immediate needs of our school; from technology and facilities to athletic equipment and tuition assistance. All our events and fundraisers benefit NDP Fund. Visit, ndpsaints.org/NDPfund.
We offer business owners plenty of opportunities to advertise to loyal constituents in the NDP community. View opportunities for advertising at ndpsaints.org/media-kit.
Support school events while promoting your brand. Event sponsorship and underwriting opportunities are available at all levels and include substantial recognition and benefits. Visit ndpsaints.org/sponsorships to view the 2023-24 sponsorship packet.
Scrip is the fundraiser that pays you back. It is simply done by making your everyday purchases through Scrip’s various tools. Of every dollar earned from Scrip, 50 percent goes to your student and the other half goes to NDP’s Tuition Assistance Fund. ndpsaints.org/support-ndp/scrip.
Many years ago, our Advisory School Board started the Faculty and Staff Christmas Fund. This tradition helps make holiday gift giving to faculty and staff easier for parents and is very appreciated by NDP employees. The gift-giving event runs from Nov. 1-30.
Scottsdale in December is the perfect time for a round of golf at the gorgeous Troon North Golf Course. Our annual “best-ball” scramble format golf tournament is designed for golfers of all abilities. There are fun games, a putting contest and a silent auction for added excitement. Organize a foursome or come as a single and join us for a wonderful day on the links! For more information, please visit ndpsaints.org/golf
Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday is a special day at NDP. Our NDP Live! Club hosts a livestream-athon to raise as much money in one day as possible through their 8-hour broadcast. The money raised goes directly into NDP Fund.
The Auction Fashion Show is our largest fundraiser of the year and gives our entire community a night of good times and glamour while supporting our mission. After dinner and a fast-paced auction, we partner with Dillard’s at Fashion Square to put on a spring fashion show, featuring our seniors as the models! It is a wonderful tradition at NDP with fun for parents from all grade levels. Go to ndpsaints.org/afs for more information.
Redirect your tax dollars to help make an NDP education affordable for all at no cost to you!
ITC - The individual tax credit, for those filing single or joint returns, is a dollar-fordollar match of your tax liability (amount restrictions apply). Simply go to the Catholic Education Arizona (ceaz.org) website or student tuition organization of your choice (example, www.arizonatuitionconnection.com). To fill out the forms and a portion of your tax dollars will be directed to NDP. Remember to designate Notre Dame Prep as the school to which you want your tax dollars directed. The deadline to file is April 15.
CTC - The corporate tax credit can direct 100% of your company's tax liability to Notre Dame Prep, provided the company files an AZ 120, 120A or 120S form. We hope you will choose CEA and designate Notre Dame Prep. In turn, CEA will use the tax dollars to distribute scholarships to our students with a demonstrated need. The deadline to file is June 30.
Contact tuition@ndpsaints.org with questions.
Those interested in giving a lasting charitable contribution to our school including appreciated stocks and securities, will bequests and trusts, or donations to our endowment fund should contact Sydney Glenn at sglenn@ndpsaints.org to discuss tax strategies to achieve your philanthropic goals.
We are a Community of Saints and that is why we love to host events that bring us together to share in the special bond we have as members of the NDP family.
Favorite restaurants from all over the Valley bring their culinary delights to this fabulous dining extravaganza under the stars on the NDP campus. This 21+ event is casual, and features great food, drinks, a silent auction and much more! We were voted The Best Culinary Event in the Valley by AZ Foothills Magazine! Grandparents have always been a part of the Notre Dame Prep story. Many are Saints fans and school supporters. Each year, on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, we host an event to celebrate the grandparent/grandchild connection. This year it will be a special Mass set for Nov. 21. Registration will open in October.
Throughout the year we host networking events, Mothers' Guild luncheons, and parent socials. We will send special emails when these events arise.
All the SAINTS; past and present will fill Bemis Field to watch our homecoming game and see who is crowned Homecoming Royalty this year! The game is set for Friday, Sept. 15.
The partnership between NDP faculty, staff, alumni, and parents is vital to the growth and success of our students and institution. We invite parents and alumni to volunteer, join our parent and alumni associations, and actively take part in the mission and vision of our school.
The first step to becoming a volunteer is taking the Safe Environment Training (SET) through the Diocese of Phoenix. All parent and/or alumni volunteers MUST attend one SET introductory class or annually renew their SET training through the Diocese of Phoenix to be cleared to work on campus. Classes and renewals must be taken after July 1, 2023. To get started, visit phoenix.cmgconnect.org.
For the safety of our campus, all volunteers and visitors MUST sign in and sign out at the front desk. There are no exceptions.
The Advancement Office uses parent and alumni volunteers for our annual fundraising and community-building events including our Culinary Festival, Golf Tournament, Alumni Hall of Fame, and Auction Fashion Show. Please contact Heather Weurding at hweurding@ndpsaints.org if you would like to get involved.
Mothers’ Guild, Advisory School Board and The Alumni Association serve as vehicles for parents and alumni to engage in the life of the school and bolster the NDP experience. Involved parents and alumni share in fun and lasting friendships while building a cohesive community. Through these organizations, parents and alumni can volunteer, socialize, pray, and grow the NDP family. For more information visit ndpsaints.org/myndp/parents or ndpsaints.org/alumni.
