BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING AGENDA

I. Meeting Called to order at 8:01 AM by President Lippert

II. Invocation – Bay Area Chapter President Mark Naylor performed the invocation

III. Roll Call – Attendance noted above, quorum established

IV. Past President’s Comments

 Past President Moriarty looked forward to relaxing as the season is starting to slow down

 Past President Dumas expressed the need for positivity with everything going on and the world and informed the board of the recent passing of Andy Paisal a longtime partner of the NCPGA

V. Action Items

 Board Meeting Minute Approval- Motion by Bailey to approve the June 11, 2023, Board minutes/ second by Larkin/ motion carried a. Tournament Committee Proposed Motion

 Due to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am becoming a designated event we lost a spot for our Section Player of the Year. A proposal was made to move the Section Player of the Year exemption to the Fortinet Championship and the Section Championship winner would no longer get an exemption into the Fortinet Championship.

b. NCPGA Committee Reports

i. Tournament Committee Report

 Field size has increased in the Section Championship since we have moved back to 36 holes. The committee is currently in discussions with Olympic Club to host the Section Championship for 2024 and Monterey Peninsula Country Club 2026.

ii. Strategic Planning Committee Report

 Have created a Pathway to Associate and now looking at Pathway to Membership packet

District 11 Report

The PGA Annual Meeting will be November 8-9 at PGA Frisco. The disaster relief fund is increasing from $30 to $40 because of the number of disasters that are happening and the cost of those disasters.

 The PGA of America is looking to improve its financial health moving forward. By focusing on this North Star the PGA laid off 22 employees, are evaluating what the future will look like for the Senior and Women’s PGA Championship, and the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL

 The PGA of America has released a new logo. The logo came from the events on June 6th when the PGA Tour and the PIF agreed to a deal in framework. The PGA of America logo was used instead of the PGA Tour. By creating a new logo this will allow the PGA of America to create a new story. The logo was unveiled at the Ryder Cup with a new campaign “We Love this Game.”

VI. President’s Report – Eric Lippert, PGA

 Looks forward to seeing everyone in person at the Section Annual Meeting and hopes everyone can take some personal time as we move into a slower time of year.

 There will be two resolutions voted on at the PGA of America Annual Meeting. The first resolution is the creation of the A-25 classification to recognize Past Presidents or CEOs of PGA Recognized organizations, other than the PGA of America. The second resolution is to increase national dues by $25 from $100 to $125. After discussion about the resolutions the board supports both resolutions.

VII. Vice President’s Report – Nick Bailey, PGA

 Report accepted as submitted

 Financial Statements, August 31, 2023 – Results for the period ending 8/31/2023 reflect a net operating loss of $5,595 versus a budgeted profit of $9,031 for a variance of $14,625.

VIII. Secretary’s Report – TJ Duncan, PGA

 Membership Report – Members 859 (down by 1 since the last Board Meeting); Associates 207 (up by 31); New Members in last two months 7; New Associates in the last two months 20; Transfer in 9; Transfer out 8; Class F 42; Reserve 23; ADM Certified 232

a. 2024 – 2026 BOD of Directors Election

 There are 5 people running for 3 Board of Directors positions. The election is now open and closes November 3. The people running are Chad Bennett, Matt Jordan, Mark Naylor, Josh Ostler, and Craig Renshaw

IX. Executive Director/COO Report – Len Dumas, PGA CCM

 PGA of America North Stars created by COO Craig Kessler. The North Stars are helping guide the PGA of America moving forward. They are looking to update the national database, help track more members, and make it easier for Sections to receive dues.

 National will send the new logo to sections in the coming months. National will pay for the logo change for the Section as we consume product of the old logo.

 Special Awards judging ends today

 PGA of America produced transgender verbiage. This was looked over by Director Iskander and said he follows state law.

X. Assistant Executive Director Report, Michael Merritt, PGA

 Met with the Strategic Planning Committee to go over Path to Associate packet and looking forward to continuing this with each level of the program moving forward.

 The Player Teacher Forum is scheduled for January 8 and 9, 2024 at Lake Merced Golf Club. We currently have George Gankas, Marcus Potter, Nick Clearwater, Warren Bottke, and Roger Maltbie committed as presenters.
